CHAPTER ONE, the arrival of the vks

(her outfit for the beginning of this chapter is shown above)

Living in Auradon, specifically in the castle, was pretty great. Ever since she was ten, Kalia has been living in the castle with Adam and Belle and their son, Ben. Adam and Belle treated Kalia as if she was their own daughter and Kalia had a brother-sister type of bond with Ben.

Some of the other students don't think it's fair that Kalia has some perks because she's close friends with the royal family. Those students mainly being Audrey and Chad. Audrey is the daughter of Aurora, sleeping beauty, and Chad is the son of Cinderella. Audrey is also Ben's girlfriend and is someone who Kalia isn't a fan of.

Kalia never liked Audrey; she even tried to convince Ben to break up with her because she could see that they just weren't good together, well, at least not anymore. Ben didn't listen, he was persistent with saying that they were good together and that he still liked her. It was true Audrey and Ben were good together at the start, but as time went on Kalia could see Ben's feelings for Audrey fade. She knew that Ben was too kind to break up with Audrey even though he might need to.

Currently, Kalia was in her room, sitting on a swing made of vines and was drawing in her journal. Specifically, she was drawing a blue bird who sat on its branch by the window. The Blue Jay was Kalia's pet and animal companion named Blue. Don't judge her for the name, she named the bird when she was five years old. One of the perks of being family friends with the royal family was that she didn't have to share a room with someone. She had the choice of having a roommate, but she decided against it, preferring to have her own room.

Two knocks on her door was heard causing her to smile and say, "Come in." She didn't have to ask who was at the door because she knew it was her best friend, Ben. When they were younger, they made their own secret knock so they knew it was them when they knocked on the door.

The door opens and Ben walks inside. "So, how did it go?" Kalia questioned, referring to him telling his parents about his first proclamation.

"Good," Ben answers as he sits on her bed. He pauses for a few moments and a nervous expression form on his face. "I think."

"Okay, explain, please." Kalia tells him, looking up from her journal to look at her best friend, who was staring out the window. "I can't read your mind and you can't just not talk about what happened after saying that."

"My dad didn't seem that happy about it which is understandable. I think he wouldn't even be okay with my proclamation if it wasn't for my mom convincing him." Ben sighed, running a hand through his brunette hair.

"Well, at least he didn't yell at you." Kalia said, trying to get Ben to look at the bright side. She grimaces when he stayed silent. "He yelled at you, didn't he?"

"Just a bit." Ben admits and glances at her with a small frown. "He definitely wasn't happy with who I picked to be sent over."

Kalia stands up, closing her journal and sets it on her bedside table before she went to sit besides Ben on her bed. She puts a comforting hand on his shoulder, getting him to look at her, and she smiles reassuringly at him. "Don't worry, Benny, I'm sure everything will be just fine. The fact you want to give some villain kids a chance at a normal life shows your kind heart. I don't think anyone else would do that and because of that you're gonna be a great King."

Ben's shoulders drop with relief and he smiles brightly at her. "Thanks, Kallie," He wraps his arm around her shoulders, pulling her in for a side hug. "You're the best."

"Yeah, I am the best." Kalia grins, wrapping her arm around his shoulders. The two best friends share a laugh and she smiles slightly. "You're welcome, by the way."

After a few moments of comfortable silence, Ben breaks the silence by asking, "So, do you want to be on the welcoming committee?" Kalia groans, taking her arm away from Ben which caused him to do the same and she stands up to walk back over to her swing. Ben turns to face her, looking at her pleadingly. "Come on, please? No one will be on the welcoming committee other than Audrey."

"I hate to break it to ya," Kalia chuckles, shaking her head. "Who am I kidding? No, I don't." She sits down on her swing, pointing at Ben. "She's the reason why no one wants to be on the welcoming committee."

Ben sighs heavily. "That might be true," He looks at her with puppy dog eyes. "But please will you do this for me?"

Kalia mentally scolded Ben for using puppy dog eyes. She knew that Ben knew she couldn't say no to puppy dog eyes and it annoyed her he used that to his advantage. "Fine." She grumbled and crossed her arms.

Ben smiles widely at her. "Thank you, Kalia."

The next day when she woke up she realized she was late. "This is not good. Not good at all." Kalia muttered to herself as she scrambled around the room, getting ready for the day. When she was done she quickly ran to the front of the school where Fairy Godmother, Audrey, and Ben were waiting for the arrival of the VKs.

"Sorry, I'm late!" Kalia apologized, finally getting to the three at the front.

Ben smiles, looking relieved that she was there. "Glad you made it, Kalia."

Audrey looks at Kalia with a smile as well, but it was clearly fake. "We thought you would miss it."

"Well, I'm here now whether you like it or not." Kalia remarked, causing Audrey to give her a glare.

"Oh, and so are the villain kids!" Fairy Godmother announced when a black limo pulled up, speaking before an argument could happen between Audrey and Kalia. Kalia stood between Ben and Fairy Godmother while the limo stopped in front of them.

Kalia had to admit she was beyond nervous. You would be nervous too if you were going to meet four villain kids. She twisted a ring that's around her right index finger as the driver got out and opened the door for the villain kids. Something she did when she was nervous or anxious was twisting the rings she wore and at the moment she felt both emotions.

Suddenly, two boys fell out of the limo, and Kalia noticed they were wrestling over some type of cloth. "Stop! You got everything else! Why do you want this?" The short boy with white and black hair cried out, tugging the cloth away from the taller boy with long hair. The band stopped playing and everyone grew quiet at the sight of the boys fighting.

"Because you want it!" The taller boy with long hair exclaimed, not letting go of the cloth.

"No!" The short boy with white and black hair shouted.

"Give it to me!" The taller boy with long hair demanded.

Kalia stifled a laugh by covering her mouth. She couldn't help it, these two boys were funny. And she wasn't expecting this. Well, she didn't really know what to expect with a bunch of villain kids, but she definitely didn't expect this for the introduction. After glancing at the four villain kids, Kalia was quick to notice how different they all were from each other.

The blue-haired girl, Kalia assumed she was Evie Queen, daughter of the Evil Queen, by the way she was staring at the castle in awe and how stylish her outfit was. The purple-haired girl, Kalia just knew she was Mal, daughter of Maleficient. It was obvious by her bored and almost disgusted expression as she looked at everything. Then that left the boys. Kalia knew the taller boy with long hair must be Jay, son of Jafar. Since he held different devices he must've got from inside the limo and he was stealing something from the other boy, that kind of gave away who his father was. The shorter boy with the white and black hair, Kalia figured he must be Carlos De Vil, son of Creulla De vil. She noticed the colors of his outfit were similar to the colors of his mother's outfit.

"Guys, guys, guys." Mal hisses at the boys. "We have an audience."

Jay chuckles nervously. "Just cleaning up." He glances down at Carlos, grabbing onto his hand and yanking him up. "Get up."

"Leave it like you found it!" Fairy Godmother said in a sing-songy voice. "And by that, I mean just leave it." Jay and Carlos then threw what they held back inside the limo. Kalia giggled a bit, gaining Carlos' attention. He was taken aback by her beauty, staring at her in awe. He was snapped out of his trance when he noticed Jay walk over to her and he frowned slightly.

Jay smirks as he walks over to Kalia. "Hello, foxy." He crosses his arms. "The name's Jay."

"My name's Kalia, not foxy." Kalia tells him. She knew that he most likely was expecting her to swoon because of him, but she wasn't going to do that. Jay wasn't the type of guys she liked anyway. She crosses her arms and she smiles friendly at him. "But it's nice to meet you."

Jay takes a step back, looking disappointed by her response. "Welcome to Auradon Prep." Fairy Godmother smiled while Jay went back to stand by his friends. "I'm Fairy Godmother. Headmistress."

Mal raises her eyebrows. "The Fairy Godmother?" She pretends to wave a wand. "As in 'Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo'?"

Fairy Godmother nods and smiles. "Bibbidi-Bobbidi you know it!"

"Yeah," Mal nods. "I always wondered what it felt like for Cinderella when you just appeared out of nowhere." She chuckles. "With that sparkly wand and warm smile. And that sparkling wand."

Kalia narrows her eyes, staring at Mal suspiciously. Why was Mal so interested about the wand? She knows that they don't have anything like it on the Isle, but she found it odd. "That was a long time ago." Fairy Godmother comments. "And as I always say," Kalia rolls her eyes, mouthing the words Fairy Godmother speaks in a mocking way. "'Don't focus on the past or you'll miss the future!'"

Carlos noticed Kalia mouthing the words Fairy Godmother said which made him wonder if she really did say that a lot, but he couldn't help the small chuckle that left his lips. He thought Kalia was funny and, of course, he found her very pretty. Kalia glanced at him when she heard his chuckle and she smiled slightly. Carlos blushed a bit after he realized she caught him staring at her, but when she giggled he couldn't help but smile at her, her giggle causing his heart to flutter.

"It's so good to finally meet you all." Ben steps forward along with Audrey and Kalia. "I'm Ben."

"Prince Benjamin." Audrey interjects. She smiles excitedly. "Soon to be King."

"I think that's pretty obvious, Audrey." Kalia muttered.

Evie steps forward, looking at Ben with a dreaming expression. "You had me at prince. My mom's a queen which makes me a princess."

"The Evil Queen has no royal status here and neither do you." Audrey told her. Evie's smile faltered and she took a step back.

Kalia rolls her eyes at Audrey and then smiles at Evie. "I apologize for Audrey and her rudeness. She doesn't always know when to keep her mouth shut."

The four VKs looks at her with surprise, not expecting her to say that about Audrey. Ben glances away to hide the fact that he stifled a laugh at Kalia's comment and Audrey glares at Kalia. "Kalia!" Fairy Godmother scolded.

"What?" Kalia shrugs. "You always say be honest and that was me being honest."

"I'm starting to think maybe she was meant to be a villain." Jay whispered to his friends. Mal chuckled and nodded in agreement along with the others who smiled.

"It's nice to meet you Princess Evie." Kalia smiles at the blue-haired girl. She points at her outfit. "I love your style by the way."

Evie smiles brightly at her. "Thanks. I made my outfit."

"Really? That's so cool!" Kalia's eyes lit up and she smiles excitedly. "I always wanted to learn how to make clothes. Maybe you can teach me?" Carlos couldn't help but smile at her, finding it cute how excited she was.

"Yeah!" Evie excitedly replies. When she heard Mal clear her throat, she shrugs and pretends to not be as excited as she really was that someone else was interested in fashion like her. "I mean, maybe, if I have the time."

"Great." Kalia nodded.

Ben chuckles nervously. "This is Audrey."

"Princess Audrey." Audrey cut in, grabbing onto his hand and smiles at him. "His girlfriend. Right, Bennyboo?"

"His girlfriend force or not by force? No one will know." Kalia sarcastically commented, earning a few chuckles from the VKs and she grinned, happy especially when she noticed Ben started to smile at her sarcastic comment.

"Ben, Audrey, and Kalia are going to show you all around," Fairy Godmother explains. "And I'll see you tomorrow." She pulls Ben's and Audrey's hands away from each other, walking past them. "The doors of wisdom are never shut! But the library hours are from eight to eleven. And as you may have heard, I have a little thing about curfews." She then walked away, followed by the band.

Ben takes the lead with greeting the four VKs. "It is so, so, so good too finally meet you all." He goes to shake Jay's hand, wincing a bit when Jay decided to punch him in the chest instead. He then moves on to shake Mal's hand, shaking her hand a bit longer than he needed to. Kalia smirks, noticing the way his gaze lingered on her before he moved on to shake Carlos' hand. "This is a momentous occasion and one that I hope will go down in history..." When he shook Carlos' hand, he furrows his eyebrows slightly, licking his finger when he felt something on it. "is that chocolate?" And lastly he shook Evie's hand. "As the day our two peoples began to heal."

"Or the day that you showed four peoples where the bathrooms are." Mal chimed in.

Ben chuckles. "A little bit over the top?"

Mal nods. "A little more than a little bit." She chuckled along with them.

"Well, so much for my first impression." Ben shrugged and he laughed along with Mal.

"Hey, at least you didn't steal her handkerchief." Kalia chuckles. When she noticed the confused looks from the VKs, she quickly adds, "That's how my dad and mom met." When they still looked confused, she glances at them with surprise. "Seriously? You don't know Jane and Tarzan?"

Carlos stares at her with shock. "Your parents are Jane and Tarzan?" He smiles at her, staring at her in awe. "That made you even more cool."

Kalia blushes faintly and she smiles shyly. "Oh, um, thanks." His compliment was unexpected, but it and the way he smiled at her made her heart skip a beat.

"Hey! You're Malificent's daughter, aren't you?" Audrey asks Mal. "Yeah, you know what? I totally do not blame you for your mother trying to kill my parents and stuff." She smiles. "Oh, my mom's Aurora. Sleeping-"

"Beauty." Mal interrupts her. "Yeah, I've heard the name. You know, and I totally do not blame your grandparents for inviting everyone in the whole world but my mother to their stupid christening."

A fake smile forms on Audrey's face. "Water under the bridge."

"Totes." Mal and Audrey then fake laughed before they both sighed.

"Well," Kalia exhales sharply. "This isn't awkward or tense at all. So..." She drags out the word, glancing at Ben with a smile. "Ben, I think now is a good time for a tour."

Ben looks at her with a thankful smile and nods. "Yes, great idea, Kalia." He gestures to the school, beginning to lead the group with Audrey by his side. Kalia stayed behind slightly, making sure that the VKs went with them. "Auradon Prep, originally built over three hundred years ago and converted into a high school by my father when he became king." The group stopped by the statue of King Adam that's at the front of the school. Ben clapped twice, causing the statue to form into King Adam as the Beast.

Carlos screams, jumping into the arms of the person who was next to him which happened to be Kalia. Kalia's eyes widen, stumbling slightly until she was quick to regain her balance as she caught him. She glances at him with a mixture of concern and confusion, wondering why he was so scared. "Carlos, it's okay." Ben smiles reassuringly at Carlos. "My father wanted his statue to morph from beast to man to remind us that anything is possible."

"Does he shed much?" Mal inquired.

"Yeah," Ben nods with a serious look on his face. "Mom won't let him on the couch."

Mal glances at him with raised eyebrows and smiles slightly. "Carlos, you good?" Kalia asked Carlos.

"Y-Yeah." Carlos quickly gets out of her arms, his face turning a bright red as his heartbeat continues to beat rapidly. "Sorry."

"It's okay." Kalia reassures him. "Oh!" She suddenly said, grabbing something out of her bag. She pulls out a handkerchief, handing it to him with a smile on her face. "Here. Figured you might want to wipe off the chocolate on your mouth." She shrugs. "Or not if you wanna save it for later." She joked.

Carlos stares at her with surprise, hesitantly taking the handkerchief from her. His mind was running with so many thoughts and questions. Why wasn't she scared of him? He figured kids in Auradon would be scared of him and his friends, but Kalia didn't seem to be scared of him or his friends. And why was she being so nice to him? He's a villain and she's a daughter of heroes. "Thank you." He spoke when he finally found his voice after realizing he hadn't said anything in a seconds.

Kalia smiles at him and nods. "You're welcome." She glances over her shoulder, noticing the rest of the group have moved on to inside. "Come on, let's catch up with the others." She began to walk towards the entrance, stopping when she heard Carlos clapping. She glanced back at the white and black hair boy, giggling a bit. She figured he was trying to see if the statue would change if he clapped.

"Sorry, but it won't work that way." Kalia calls out to him. He jumps, startled since he didn't think she was watching him. A confused look forms on her face. "Actually, I'm not even for sure how it works." She sakes her head and smiles slightly. "But anyways, let's go." Carlos nodded, taking one last scared look at the statue before he quickly followed Kalia inside.
