25- Future Alpha?
Hritika tried her best to not break down in front of these strangers by shutting her eyes tightly, not shredding a single tear but her trembling form gave away her act.
"Do you need some privacy? We all can leave the cabin," Peaceful pack's Alpha asked in the softest voice he could muster.
"Do we really have to? I mean we all are on a tight schedule and wasting time like this...." Alpha of Moonshine Pack butted in with exasperation.
"Have you lost it? How can someone be so insensitive?" Luna Mahira growled.
Moonshine Pack's Alpha shrugged.
"Why is everyone behaving like they were killed today. They have been dead for a long time. I am sure that this human had enough time to grieve," he answered nonchalantly.
"Shut up or I will break your face," Nihal threatened, standing up from his seat in fury.
Alpha of Moonshine Pack raised his eyebrow in amusement.
Folding his arms, he provoked Nihal, "Let's see human. How are you going to work through the threat with your nonexistent strength? It will be fun to watch, bring it on."
Before anyone could understand what happened, something whooshed past the arrogant Alpha, making him cry out while holding his cheek.
Hritika stood up, her eyes blazing with fire.
"You are lucky that I just threw my silver chain on you instead of strangling you with it as I had originally imagined."
Her strong and deep voice was enough to scare everyone. She was a tiny human in front of those powerful beasts yet her whole form oozed power.
"You will regret this," saying this Alpha of Moonshine pack took a step forward only to be stopped by Alpha of Peaceful pack.
"Sit back down before the agenda of meeting changes from Alpha Aarjav's punishment to yours. You deserved that burn and you know it," Peaceful pack's Alpha reprimanded him sternly.
Alpha Aarjav was ready to jump in to save Hritika but it wasn't needed.
"Hritika, do you need some time with your brother?" Alpha of Peaceful Pack asked again, looking daringly at everyone else.
His warning was clear from his gaze, no one was going to interrupt.
"No, just continue the meeting. Faster the meeting ends, the earlier we could go to our home," Hritika stated.
"Sorry dear but now that you two know of our existence, you won't be able to go back to your human life regardless of the fact whether Nihal becomes the future Alpha or not," Peaceful Pack's Alpha informed her with a sorry smile.
"You are kidding, right? You cannot just expect us to leave everything behind. Moreover, I hate living near a forest, forget about living inside it." Nihal shuddered at the thought of it.
"It is either this or we would have to kill you two," Alpha of Lunar pack deadpanned.
Nihal sat back down with a tired thud, covering his face with both the hands.
"Now that the topic of future Alpha has come up, let's discuss about who will be leading the pack - Vivaan or Nihal," Peaceful Pack's Alpha announced.
"How can anyone think of giving power to a measly human over werewolves?"
"He is the first born and that means Moon Goddess chose him to rule."
"He doesn't even like our kind. How is he going to work for their betterment?"
"His birthmark is darker that Vivaan's, clearly showing who would rule. Everyone knows that next Alpha has the darkest marks while other siblings receive a lighter one."
Many such views were splattered by all the Alphas.
"SILENCE."
Alpha of Peaceful pack stood up and addressed everybody.
"You all are right. Everything mentioned is correct. Nihal is the predestined Alpha but he doesn't have the capability or strength to run the pack. On the other hand, Vivaan has gone through extensive training and is already loved by the pack but he is the second son," Alpha of Peaceful pack summarized everything.
"How do we decide then? Won't we be going against the wishes of Moon Goddess if we select Vivaan? But we can't even select Nihal, because that would dishevel the pack and thereby harming the children of Moon Goddess," Female Alpha projected her worries.
"In that case, any choice we make is going to be wrong," Alpha Aarjav spoke.
"Exactly, both are wrong choices. So, instead of a good choice, let's try to choose the one who is less bad among them," Alpha of Lunar pack suggested.
"As per your suggestion, Vivaan would be a good choice but that would only work if Nihal cannot use an Alpha command on him. Both of them are going to stay in the same pack. So we can't have Nihal overpowering him when Vivaan would be the ruler," Moonshine Pack's Alpha remarked.
Luna Mahira looked at Vivaan with sorrowful eyes. The slight hope that had ignited upon hearing that Vivaan would be a better choice among both the wrong choices, died down as soon as the fact of Alpha Command came up. They both knew that Nihal was capable of commanding him and they were just fighting a lost battle.
