Afterstorm

Lucky they found the truck. The storm hit just before they could reach the city - or any other form of shelter. Izuku parked on the shoulder of the road, shutting off the engine.

Visibility was practically zero with how hard the rain came down.

"Wonder how long it'll take to clear up," Izuku sighed, slumping in his seat.

Katsuki shrugged, taking off his jacket. Izuku raised a brow. "Pillow," he answered the silent question. "Might as well sleep."

"It'll be cold since the heat is off."

"I'd rather be cold than be cold anyway with a sore neck."

Izuku laughed softly. "I guess so... Hey... Now that wr have a truck, we can gather more supplies than we can carry..."

Katsuki just stared blank-faced at him for a few moments. That statement was so incredibly obvious. Duh, they could gather more than they can carry-

His eyes widened and he shot up. "We can get more clothes!"

The greenette doubled over, clutching his sides as he wheezed with more laughter.

"That's not fucking funny! I'm serious- more clothes, dumbass! I'm so fucking sick of the same Goddamn outfit everyday!"

"I-I was just thinking more food, water and weapons, but clothes are good, too," Izuku sputtered out between his laughter.

Katsuki scoffed and rolled onto his other side, tucking his jacket under his head. "Fuck off."

"Aw, Kats..."

"Get some sleep, nerd."

Izuku hummed softly, watching Katsuki. "Okay. Sleep well."

When Katsuki woke, the truck was moving and the rain had died down significantly. He shifted and groaned, reaching down between the chair and door to sit the chair up.

"Have a good nap?"

"How long was I out," Katsuki grumbled, rubbing his face. He forgor how much he hated naps. Made him feel groggy and fuzzy, sometimes he'd even wake with a headache, then he'd have trouble sleeping the night after.

Izuku smiled and tapped the clock on the radio of the truck. "Just two hours. Power nap."

Katsuki huffed, eyes narrow and blinking. "That's longer than a power nap..."

The greenette chuckled softly. "My bad. Okay, so I've been kinda cruising these backroads I found, looking for a farmhouse."

"Wasting gas, are you fuckin' serious!?"

Izuku rolled his his and pushed Katsuki back into his seat. "No, I've only been driving for about half an hour. I was about to stop and pulled by a house anyway because it looks like more in coming in." He gestured out the window to the distant clouds, darker and thicker than the ones above them. "We're gonna want a roof over our heads for that one."

~

Katsuki grunted as he pulled a garage door shut as Izuku turned off the truck engine. Izuku hopped out of the cab and stretched his arms above his head. They cleared the house before pulling the truck in and thankfully, before the storm hits. It's still a distance off, but any minute it'll be over them.

Izuku grabbed the knapsack, Katsuki grabbing the duffle bag.

"Why don't we leave that in here? We don't need the guns inside, Kats," Izuku yawned as he opened the door into the kitchen, rubbing his eye.

"Better safe than sorry, nerd."

Izuku hummed, setting the knapsack on the island and opening the large pouch. "What do you want to eat?"

"Anything. Just throw it at me."

The greenette chuckled, digging through the bag. "We really don't have much left... Hopefully the storm is gone by the morning so we can scout the surrounding homes." Izuku grabbed a can of fruit and tossed it over, followed by a spoon.

Katsuki easily caught the can, but he hissed as the spoon hit his fingers and fell to the floor, rattling as it bounced on the hardwood. "Damnit... Yeah." He crouched to pick up the spoon. "I did see that grocery store around the corner, though. Hopefully they got some freeze-dried food there or something."

"Right." Izuku sat on the sofa, watching as Katsuki sat beside him. "We can carry a lot more now, though. Truck."

"Which is a damn-good thing. You sure we wanna drive it to go back to the store, though? That seems like waste of gas."

Izuku set his can aside, humming as he swallows his last bite. "We don't have to drive. We can make a couple trips or even grabs bags and carry the bags in one trip. We just are able to carry that much long distance now." He looked up to Katsuki, fiddling with his gloves.

Katsuki raised a brow at that, but decided not to comment. "Right. One trip in the morning, then we get to looking for a place for the group."

The greenette chuckled and nodded, leaning over to start untying his boots. "Sounds like a plan," he mused, kicking his boots to the side.

"Hopefully we can get you some new damn boots. Those fuckers have seen better days."

Laughing, Izuku stood and made his way back to their bags, grabbing the blankets. "New boots would be nice, Kats."

Katsuki huffed, leaning back and draping his arms over the back of the sofa. He watched Izuku closely, steadily relaxing.

He can't wait to find the place... Can't wait to have a home for not just his group, but for Izuku, too... They all deserve it.
