┍M┚ɪᴀ ᴡɪɴᴄᴇᴅ ᴀs ᴍᴀʀʟᴇɴᴇ ᴄᴀʀᴇғᴜʟʟʏ ᴀᴘᴘʟɪᴇᴅ ᴍᴀsᴄᴀʀᴀ to her eyes. She had asked her friend to help her get ready for her Hogsmeade date with Amos.
"Stop moving! I'll poke you in the eye!" Marlene yelped as Mia flinched once more. "It's not rocket science, Mia."
"You are holding a mascara wand, coated with who knows what, extremely close to my eyes that could very well be damaged for life!" Mia gritted out. Marlene simply smirked and applied the mascara to her left eyelash once more.
"Done. Now for the lipstick!" Pulling out a tube from Mia's makeup bag, that her mum had sneaked into her trunk, she carefully rolled up the product before looking at Mia with disbelief. "This is almost red?"
"Um."
"I'll only put some on your top lip, you can balance it out with some pink." Marlene did what she said, and smiled in adoration. "You look so cute!"
"Thanks." She smiled at her friend.
"The lipstick still looks a tad bit red." Marlene stated, before scanning Mia's clothes with scrutiny. "And you are not wearing those with my amazing make up."
"Oh come on! I'm gonna be late!" She complained, as Marlene dug through Mia's trunk with what looked like fierce determination.
Pulling out a shift dress, a beaded necklace and some kitten heels, Marlene got back up and threw them at Mia.
"Well hurry up, then. Don't wanna keep Diggory Dearest waiting." She smirked at Mia, "And you know, make someone else jealous of course."
"Marlene." Mia warned her, while hopping into her dress. "What are you talking about?"
"Well Emma Clackton told her little Hufflepuff friends, who told some Slytherins, who told a few Gryffindors, who then told a few Ravenclaws, who then told me that Sirius and Clackton are going on a date together at one o'clock." Marlene rambled.
"For fucks sake! And I'm Prefect so I have to be monitoring the Three Broomsticks so I couldn't hurry the date up before it hits one o'clock." Mia groaned, before promptly slipping on the shoes and getting Marlene to tie her necklace. "I'm just gonna disappear into the background. He'll never notice I was there."
"Mia-." Marlene started.
"I can't talk to him. I don't even want to look at him. It, it m-makes me feel sick." She whispered, "And maybe I just want to move on. And go through at least one decent date before someone has to ruin my happiness."
"Mia. Go." Marlene briefly hugged her friend before ushering her out. "Wait!" She stopped, grabbing her wand and pointing it at Mia's neck before whispering a glamour charm.
"I love you, Lenie."
"Ugh. You know I detest that nickname." Mia smiled before walking down the stairs.
"Diggory." A voice whispered harshly. Amos jumped, startled and looked around.
"What on ear-."
"Diggory. Here!" The voice spoke again but this time, Amos turned around, looking into the cold grey eyes of Regulas Black.
"Black."
"Diggory."
"What do you want?" Amos asked, warily looking at him with uncertainty.
"I want you to not mess up this date." Regulas spoke, glaring at him.
"What's it to you?" Amos asked, fiddling with the red rose he'd picked from the back of one of Professor Sprout's greenhouses.
"Let's just say that if you hurt or harm Mia in any way, like my idiotic brother did, I will string you up from your balls in the Great Hall. Capiche?"
"Yep." Amos nodded, "I won't hurt her."
"Good. And if I find that you have, you'll be expecting me." Regulas threatened before walking off, clutching his left arm.
"Amos!" It was Mia, standing on top of the staircase with a bright smile on her pretty face.
"Mia." He smiled back, handing her the rose and taking her hand in his. "So where do you want to go first?"
"Scrivenshafts! I need to buy a few quills. And then we have to be monitoring the Three Broomsticks remember?" She asked.
"Yep. Potter really seems to be tightening on the security. Even if we are the ones being the protection." Amos remarked as they walked to Filch, "Prefects."
"Well go on, then." Filch's nasally old voice grumbled.
"What a gargoyle." Mia said, shivering in disgust at Filch as they walked down to the village. "And that cat of his, gives me the creeps."
"Mrs Norris. I wonder what happened to Mr Norris." Amos wondered, still holding her hand.
"Maybe Filch is Mr Norris."
"Nah. Maybe Mrs Norris was Mrs Filch."
"Who knows?" Mia laughed as Amos pulled a face.
It was going so well but not for long.
"Say, Moony. Can you get us another round of butterbeer?" Sirius asked, with his arm casually draped around Emma Clackton's shoulders.
"Fuck off." Remus grumbled but got up anyway.
Sirius handed over a galleon.
"That'll buy the whole table a mug." He then chuckled at something James had said, pressing a chaste kiss onto Emma's lips after.
"Sure. And I'll bring you all some pillows while I'm at it." Remus remarked, rolling his eyes at Sirius' PDA.
"Awww. Thanks, Remus." Emma replied, giggling as Sirius whispered something into her ear.
'I was being sarcastic, you drunk cow.' He wanted to shout but instead decided to say,
"Not welcome, Clackton."
He then walked off, letting Peter nervously laugh at what had happened.
Remus walked over to the counter with a bored expression on his face as he ordered a tray of butterbeers.
"Chin up, Remus." Mia smiled, taking a sip from her Hot Chocolate.
Butterbeer reminded her of Sirius way too much, especially since she could see Sirius and Emma Clackton sitting in the booth where she and him previously sat on their first date.
How romantic.
"You know he's an idiot." Remus assured her, patting her shoulder in comfort as he waited for the bar maid to bring him a tray of butterbeer.
"I don't think I've ever experienced heartbreak before this." She whispered before taking a big gulp from her mug. "It just hurts."
"Don't worry. You wanna hang out in a different booth?" Remus asked.
"Sure. But Amos will have to come along."
"Diggory?" Remus was shocked.
"Yep. I know what you're thinking. But if he moved on so fast, why can't I?"
"Don't worry, it's not about that. It's just... Amos Diggory." Remus mused, "You make a good pair."
"Wow, Lupin."
"I know, Park."
"Whatever. Let's go, then. I'll go get Amos." She walked off, making Remus wait for her to come back with her date. "Vamos."
Sirius watched with narrowed eyes as Remus and Mia walked confidently towards their table. He watched her visibility falter in her steps for a split second after seeing his arm around Emma, but smirk as she brought Amos- Amos Diggory? with her.
"I'll be hanging with them, so bye." Remus declared, looking directly into Sirius' soul when he said it.
"No." Sirius said, sitting up.
"No?" Amos asked, quirking an eyebrow at him.
"Here. Sit with us." Sirius spoke, casually taking his arm off Emma. "Why don't Amos and Mia sit with Emma and I on this side? Remus can sit with James and Peter."
Mia's eyes darkened a touch.
'How dare he?' She thought.
"Sure. Amos, love. Let's sit next to Black." She sat Amos next to Sirius and sat next to Amos, leaning her head on his shoulder.
Remus' eyes widened for a second before he shrugged and sat next to Peter.
"So how did you meet?" Emma asked, leaning into Sirius as she asked Mia how she had come to meet Amos.
"Fate." Mia giggled dramatically, "Like he's just my knight in shining armour!" Amos quirked an eyebrow at her, and she winked.
"Yeah. When I saw her at the Prefects Meeting, back in Fifth year, I knew she was the one." He sighed in exaggeration, kissing the top of her head. "And here we are."
"Happy-." Mia started,
"And practically in love." Amos finished, chuckling to himself as Mia giggled again.
Sirius took a long gulp from his mug.
"That's lovely." Emma smiled at them, "You two are good together."
"Awww. Thanks, Erina!" Mia smiled, sitting up and kissing Amos' cheek. "I've moved on from the trash!"
Remus snorted while drinking his butterbeer, almost choking as he burst into laughter.
"Say. How long have you been dating?" Sirius suddenly entered the conversation. "A day? Two hours?" He glared at Amos, who cooly smirked.
"Since the beginning of the year. In fact, today is our month's anniversary." He looked directly at Sirius, "And Mia's never been more happier or satisfied."
"That's lovely to here, Diggory." Sirius gritted out, slinging his arm around Emma again. "We really wish you two the best."
Amos smiled calmly, "Touché."
"I think we should be heading back, our monitor time is up. No more Prefect duties." Mia said as she got up, "Amos, let's go."
Amos smiled at the group before getting up, "Sure babe."
"Bye!" Peter waved as they walked off.
There was a pause of awkward silence as the occupants of the table silently looked at each other.
James burst out laughing.
And the moment Mia stepped out of the pub, she started to cry.
And Amos was her shoulder to cry on.
