"Madame Pomfrey?" She asked into the empty hall of hospital beds.
"Yes, dear!" There was a crash from the opposite end of the room, making Mia flinch. She could hear Madame Pomfrey let out a string of curses and huff. Eventually the cursing stopped, and the sound of a squeaky trolley pierced her ears.
Wincing at the sound, Mia layed back on the Hospital Bed, plugging her ears with her fingers.
"Mia?" Madame Pomfrey asked hesitantly, confused at the sight of the Prefect with her ears plugged in. "I've brought you a few draughts. And you can have breakfast here before I conduct a few tests."
"And when will I leave?" She asked, fiddling with her duvet.
"When you're better. God knows how long you'd been laying on the cold floor. Regulas Black found you." Mia smiled at the thought of her friend in Slytherin, they hadn't spoken in a year.
"I'll give my thanks when I get out of here." Sitting up, Mia watched as Madame Pomfrey mixed the different vials and poured it into a cup.
"Here. It'll help with the headaches."
"But what happened?" She asked the Matron, frowning at the fact that she'd probably missed a few lessons. "Why am I here?"
"Mr Black said that you'd fallen down the stairs." Madame Pomfrey replied, taking back the cup and handing her a glass of water. "And by the look of that cheek of yours, I'd have to agree."
"My cheek?" She prodded at her face, trying to find the spot, until finally wincing at the soreness under her right eye.
"It's bruised. But it'll go away in a few days." Madame Pomfrey rose from her seat before wheeling the trolley back out. "Now rest for a bit, dear."
"Um. Okay?" Mia waited for Madame Pomfrey to close the curtains and wheel the trolley back to her office. Awaiting the sound of her office door closing, she gently got up from the bed and took her shoes from the party into her arms before rushing out the Hospital Wing.
Turning a corner, she immediately paused at the sound of students rushing out of their classes to go to Lunch.
Damn.
"Mia?" The familiar voice of Marlene McKinnon had her swishing around to find her best friend looking at her with utmost concern. "You should be in the Hospital Wing."
"I'm fine. I don't want to miss Herbology." She lied, not mentioning the terrible head ache that was stabbing her forehead, making her feel incredibly dizzy. Still leaning against the cold stone wall, Mia smiled weakly as she waited for Marlene to go to Lunch.
"What?" Marlene asked, crossing her arms. "You think I'm gonna let you walk to dorm on your own?"
"Yes?" She winced at the answer Marlene gave.
"AND I'LL TAKE 500 FOR NO!" Marlene grabbed her friend's arm and pulled her with her.
"Mia?" Sirius whispered, opening the curtains of the hospital bed to find nothing. Furrowing his eyebrows, he rushed to Madame Pomfrey's office. "Madame Pomfrey?! Where's Mia?!"
"What do you mean where's Mia? She's over at her cot—. Shit." Grabbing her wand and her outer robes, the healer rushed out of her office with Sirius running behind her.
Her heels clacked as she sprinted towards Professor Flitwick's office with a determination stronger than James Potter seeing Lily Potter.
"Poppy?" Flitwick asked, confused to see the healer looking frazzled and unkempt. "Black?"
"Ms Park has discharged herself from the Hospital Wing." Pomfrey quickly let out, her words almost melting into each other.
"Has she recovered?" The squeaky man asked.
"Mild concussion, and probably an aching headache."
"Black, would you mind asking Miss McKinnon to check the Ravenclaw Girls' dormitory? Poppy, stay in your office and take a nap. She'll be fine." Flitwick commanded, throwing a sharp look that could cut glass, at Pomfrey when the healer tried to protest.
"Yes, Professor." Sirius ran off.
"He really cares for her, doesn't he? He's been sitting at her side for the past two weeks! I had to threaten him with cough syrup to make him go to his lessons!"
"Let's not get involved, Poppy. You, of all people shouldn't be talking about dating."
"That was years ago! I've changed!"
Filius gave her a look of disbelief.
Marlene helped Mia onto her bed and watched as the brunette blankly looked up at the scarlet coloured ceiling of their dormitory.
"Do you want to talk about it? Sirius and the attack?"
"What attack?" Mia asked, turning her head to look at her friend, who let out a huff.
"What do you mean? You were found at the bottom of the stairs! Someone obviously did something!"
"Maybe I was simply drunk?"
"You weren't drunk. We were joking about the stupid cocktail!—." Marlene paused before furrowing her eyebrows, "What's the last thing you remember?"
"It's all blurry... Sirius gave a ribbon in Defence Against The Dark Arts ?"
"Oh dear." A voice rang out, bringing Marlene to jump and whirl around with her wand pointed aggressively at the person leaning at the doorway.
"Sirius?" Mia asked, pulling herself up onto her elbows. "What's are you doing here? How did you get—." He cut her off.
"Oh, the stairs were easy to hex." Mia rolled her eyes before responding with,
"I mean, how did you get passed the knocker? Come on,—."
"What, like it's hard?" He asked, before taking a step into the dormitory. Marlene watched him with narrowed eyes, as if waiting for him to make the wrong move.
"Mia, you might not remember a few thing," Sirius narrowed his eyes and flashed a sign of warning at Marlene, as if daring her to bring up the misunderstanding. "And I hope that Sirius gives you a recap! Use protection, kids!"
She ran out and down the stairs.
Mia looked away from the doorway and into the comforting light grey eyes of Sirius Orion Black. Her eyes flicked down to his luscious lips, watching as he wet it with his tongue, and looked back up into his burning gaze.
"So... what happened?" She asked, witnessing him groan slightly at the thought of reminding her of his simple mistake that had led to her running off and getting attacked.
"Um. Try not to get mad at me, I honestly didn't know that I wasn't kissing you! I swear! I didn't know you'd gone and changed your outfit!"
Mia nervously chuckled before replying with, "Um. What?"
"How much do you remember?" He asked, looking concerned as he brushed a strand of her hair back so that it wouldn't cover her face. "I'll tell you anything and everything you need to know."
"I-I um." Attempting to resurface the last thing she remembered was hard. Everything was a hazy cloud for her, blocking everything from her reach.
"Nothing from that day?"
"Yeah."
"We've got a lot of work to do."
After giving her the jist of what happened, Sirius attempted to get her to rest while he snuck to the kitchens and brought back a meal but the stubborn brunette refused.
"Just take a little nap, It'll only help you."
"I have been napping for the past two days." She mumbled, loud enough for Sirius to hear and roll his eyes. Looping his arm around her knees and then supporting her back, he hoisted her up and laid her down on her four poster before gingerly laying beside her.
There was a moment of silence before Mia broke it by simply saying,
"You know I can walk, right?"
"Hush and sleep before I bring up Pomfrey." He grumbled, carefully warning himself against putting his arm around her waist like he used to.
"Sirius." She whispered.
"Yeah?" He replied.
"Don't leave." She whispered back, looping her arm around his. He had nothing to say to that but smiled at the overall gesture.
Trust may have been broken but forgiveness would mend it all.
