Brian's lisp
It's been a while and I'm sorry about that. Life has been hectic and surprisingly I wasn't sure what I was supposed to write about next as well. Well I had some topics, but couldn't decide and yeah... Thanks to some old acquaintance, I remembered that I wanted to do a chapter about Brian's lisp, so here we are.
(If sb wondered how that came to be I had a horrible lisp as a child and I still have a very faint one, which nowadays most people don't realise, because I really forced myself to get rid of it. Well my friend knows about it and she loves to pick fun at me due to some very awkward episode in school. All I'm mentioning is: Simplicius Simplicissimus, which is something I'm never ever going to try to pronounce again, especially not in front of a group of people...)
Okay back to Brian.
Usually I don't post a collection of random things, but surprisingly I didn't find anything more concrete about his lisp. I was a bit surprised nobody bothered to write something more about it before. I mean it gets mentioned a lot in descriptions.
For example:
Or it gets called a "slightly effeminate lisp" in some places.
And here's some extract from an Interview with Dawn:
Q: Do you recall any particular conversations between Brian and yourself?
DAWN: Brian talked about going to America. His dream was to be able to play with some of the blues men he idolized.
Q: What was your impression of him as a person?
DAWN: He had this arrogant air about him but l saw through that. He was always well dressed. I loved the way he smiled and talked with just a slight lisp. He had a great sense of humor.
There are of course a lot of other examples, but I don't think I need to list every single one to get the point across. Yep we got it he had a lisp.
However, after reading so much about his lisp, I really expected it to be very audible, after all everyone mentions it at some point, so when I listened to some interviews, I was a bit surprised, because I could hardly hear it. In some more than others, of course, but seriously not that much that everyone needs to point it out like a million times, just to be sure. Or maybe that's only my opinion. Oh well.
Well if sb wondered yeah it took me forever to listen to his voice.
Well here's a short interview, (it's about 3 minutes long and he speaks about music mainly) for whoever is curious about his voice:
