Friends to the End
I am Alison and my best friend's name is Marissa we spend every waking moment together. We go to a movie every week. We go to the Adventure Park near my house and also hers. We met in kindergarten and were best friends from the start. I used to just keep commenting on her beautiful, always beautiful, brunet hair. Her eyes were blue. Mine was just boring old blond and my eyes were chocolate brown. She liked Strawberry ice cream while I love Dutch Chocolate. Her mom was a grocer clerk at the new mini market downtown. Her dad was a high school biology teacher and made very little money. My parents are both teachers at the near by elementary school. My mom is a 1st grade teacher and my dad is a 5th grade teacher. We have tons of sleepovers. We are never apart. One day our city was being attacked by the Britain's. We lived in the same apartment complex. We were both in our own apartments. I got up after the bombing. That day I never saw Marissa again. Her apartment had been crushed by a bomb. She was dead. Her apartment was on the west side mine on the east. The west side was the side of the apartment that had gotten bombed. Ever since that day I saw her eyes burn into my soul because I saw her dead body as the paramedics took her away.
I tried making new friends, but I was so used to Marissa. She was always there for me. Just the other day we were talking about some books we had read for book club. Alot of people came over me before or after classes to wish me their regrets. Everyone knew that she was my best friend. That's why so many people came to me and not her parents. We were about as close as well as close as best friends could ever be. I thought that I'd never find another friend in my entire life. I blocked them out of my life, I felt bad because I'm usually very nice and kind hearted.
Then one day there was a new girl in our class named Madeline and I was supposed to show her around. She was so nice to me and apparently news travels fast around hear because she already knew about Marissa. I became friends with her the minute she said hello. Her voice was just like Marissa's she looked almost identical. I told her that as a compliment and I think she took it well. I know Marissa would want me to be her friend and be happy. Maybe Marissa had sent her to me so that I wouldn't be so lonely.
Pretty soon me and Madeline were hanging out doing the stuff I'd be doing with Marissa. She moved into to my apartment complex and we had alot of sleepovers. I knew no one would ever take the place of Marissa but Madeline was a close second. No one ever even mentioned Marissa anymore to me and it kinda made me happy so that I wouldn't start crying in front of the whole classroom. But if I did Marissa's spirit was with me and Madeline was also with me now and forever. Never apart. Just like me and Marissa were.
