Chapter 4: Ready
Barry's body hit the floor with a loud thud. Len didn't notice. He was so blinded by rage, he couldn't do anything. He just watched. The Coldgun was still on and hitting Barry dead on.
...
"OH MY GOD!!!!" Iris screamed. She ran down toward the Pipeline, Caitlin and Cisco right behind her.
...
Barry was giddy. He had finally escaped his evil family.
...
Caitlin ran over to Barry's body. His entire chest was covered in ice. His legs and face were untouched.
She had an idea.
"Get over here and help me!" she yelled at Cisco and Iris. They ran over and helped her carry Barry's body back to the Cortex.
She then grabbed something she had made for Captain Cold attacks. It was basically a 8 foot long microwave.
She opened the door and placed Barry inside. Then she hit the defrost button.
She watched as the ice slowly melted off of Barry. She sighed in relief. It was working!
...
Barry was defrosted within the hour.
...
When Barry woke up in a bed, he was ecstatic. Until he realized that he wasn't dead.
Then he wasn't.
He opened his eyes to see that he was lying in a bed, in the Pipeline.
Then he remembered Len attacking him.
He started laughing hysterically. He finally had proof that they wanted to kill him.
He sat up, and looked down to see food. He looked at it in confusion. Did they actually think he was going to eat it?
He looked at the camera in the corner. He rolled his eyes.
He picked up the plate and threw it at the cell door. He smirked at the camera.
Then he rolled back to his bed and slept.
...
When he woke again, he saw that there was another plate of food in he same spot, and the food was cleaned off of the door.
He ignored it and stared at the wall.
...
"He's not eating," Caitlin said worriedly as she paced. She wasn't going to let her friend die, but she couldn't think of a way to stop it.
Len sat in a corner. He was deep in thought, and no one could get through to him.
"Well, we could put him on a feeding tube," Cisco thought aloud. Caitlin looked at him like he was crazy. "We can't do that overtime he won't eat," she murmured.
"We just need to convince him to eat," Joe said.
Everyone nodded. That was all they could do.
...
When Barry woke up from his fourth nap that day, he saw his family standing on the outside of his cell. He noticed the absence of Len, but didn't comment. He didn't even really care.
"Yes?" he asked, and he was already bored. He was a prisoner. Why couldn't he just 'serve his sentence'?
"You need to eat, Barry," Harry said. Barry snorted. "I don't give a shit about what I need to do," he said. "I'm already your prisoner. Can't you just be satisfied with that?"
Everyone looked at one another. "Your not a prisoner, Barry," Joe said. "Oh really?" Barry challenged. "A prisoner, by definition, is either a person legally held in prison as a punishment for crimes they have committed or while awaiting trial, a person captured and kept confined by an enemy, opponent, or criminal, or a person who is or feels confined or trapped by a situation or set of circumstances. I'm not the first one, or the last one, but I am the middle one. So, yes, technically I am a prisoner."
Harry, Joe, Cisco, Caitlin, and Iris were shocked speechless that he remembered the actual definition of a prisoner.
"How do you remember that?" Iris finally asked. Barry shrugged. "I just do. Now, please leave. Your not going to convince me to do anything."
They leave completely shell-shocked.
...
Barry watches them leave, and an idea starts blossoming.
...
Barry knows exactly how many days he can go without food before passing out, but they don't.
He could trick them into thinking he had passed out. They would open the cell to take him to the MedBay, and they would hook him up to a feeding tube.
But what if he acted? What if he wasn't actually unconscious? Then he could escape when they opened the cell door. He could finally get away from them.
Yes. He would do it.
He smirked. Hopefully this would be easy.
