the next day at school, she told her best friend mary, "someone gave me flowers yesterday."

mary squealed. "who?"

julia shrugged. "i'm not sure. i wish i knew."

in front of them, luke dropped his notebook.

"you have a secret admirer!" mary enthused, looking ecstatic. "this is so romantic!"

"they're just flowers," julia said, but she smiled and added, "nobody's ever given me flowers before."

mary nodded enthusiastically. "i know! this is so exciting!"

julia sighed. "if only i knew who sent them. it was so sweet of them to!"

in front of them, luke smiled to himself and made a mental note to text julia later.
