Childish

Nothing changed as much as they thought. Katara stayed in zukos room to read still and Zuko was just as much of a gentlemen. They haven't kissed since their confession but they slept side by side still in comfort, they had space and it felt natural.

Her touch, his warmth, it felt normal. One less secret from the other.

"Ugh the love birds are taking up the garden again," Azula rolled her eyes as mai and ty Lee followed her.

"They're not love birds," mai glared a little.

Katara was laying in the grass with her head in zukos lap watching the clouds as Zuko leaned against a tree to read. They looked confused for a moment.

"We always are in the garden?" Katara rolled on her side looking at her sister in law.

"Exactly, hogging it," Azula scoffed as Katara sat up and scooted over to see where Zuko was in the book.

"You can join us, it's open land," Zuko didn't bother looking up.

"Did you get to the part where they found out she's the lost daughter?" Katara asked leaning against Zuko.

"No? Are you kidding me?" Zukos jaw dropped.

"I just got where she stopped her fathers, now apparently adopted father thank you very much, wedding," he opened the book more so she could read.

"Oh i love that book, it's weird when she kills herself in the end," Ty Lee laid in the grass across the small pond.

Zuko immediately closed the book annoyed as the two girls giggled.

"I'm kidding!" Ty Lee cackled. She wasn't and Katara laughed harder.

"You know I thought I was really being nice for not spoiling the book your reading but I'm very close to giving up the ending," Zuko looked at Katara as Azula stole their bread to feed the turtle ducks.

"Youre such nerds," Azula threw in a piece.

"Since when do you even read?" Mai snorted sitting in the grass with the others and leaned against a rock.

"Got into it more recently, there's not much to do around here," Zuko didn't pay attention to mai as he went back to his page. Katara leaned her head against his shoulder to read with him.

Zuko blushed smiling and adjusted the book and wrapped his arm around her waist so she could be more comfortable while they read together.

Ty Lee covered her mouth smiling seeing they were closer. There was a feeling she had that they confessed. There was something different.

"I'm going to go get something to eat, do you want anything?" Zuko asked setting the book down again.

"Oh do we have the stuff for my favorite?" Katara asked hopeful.

"I think we have the dark chocolate and pomegranates," he smiled.

"Yes please," Katara smiled brightly.

"I'll be back then," Zuko kissed her forehead and got up from the grass to get them snacks.

"Okay," Katara blushed softly.

She didn't care much for being accompanied by the three girls as she properly marked off zukos book where he was left off.

"So did you confess to him yet?" Ty Lee smiled at her wide eyes.

"Confess?" Azula made a face.

"Kind of i guess," Katara pulled her knees to her chest.

"Wait you love him too?" Mai perked up worried.

"You knew?" She tilted her head to the side.

"He might've mentioned it once," mai looked down frowning.

"Did you kiss?" Ty Lee asked excited.

"We accidentally kissed a few days ago but we talked and somehow kissed again yesterday, he told me he loves me and I... I am falling for him, I'm not in love yet but I love him in a way?" Katara explained to her friend.

"I know, but honestly I think you two are going to be really great for each other," Ty Lee smiled happy for her friend.

"So your now romantic with my brother? Disgusting," Azula stuck her tongue out not amused.

"He's not so bad once You get to know him, but you grew up with Zuko so maybe I don't know," Katara offered her a kind smile as well.

Azula looked at the water with a calm look, yes she and her brother grew up together but they had completely different childhoods, it felt like they had two different mothers and fathers from their own perspective.

"Your not so bad either once someone gets to know You Azula," Katara moved her long hair off her shoulder looking in the water.

"Yes, we are," Azula mumbled.

"Zuko and I both have our fathers rage, neither of us are very good deep down," she sighed rolling her eyes.

Kataras smile fell as she looked at ty Lee, then mai, they also grew up with Zuko and Azula.

"I don't think people are born bad, your to hard on yourself," Katara sighed softly. "Some of us are just put in bad situations,"

"Are You done being the goody goody two shoes mom? It must be exhausting trying to be perfect," mai laid on her back with her hands behind her head.

"No one is born bad, it's where your morales land is what makes you good or bad," Katara glared over at her.

"Yea yea I know I'm a bitch blah blah, save your breath trophy wife," mai waved her off.

"Then I shouldn't bother telling you what you already know? I don't like you and I don't think I'm ever going too," she spat harshly and mai shrugged.

"And what are you gonna do about it?" Mai sighed.

"Nothing, what can I do about it?" Katara stood up just as Zuko came back.

"Hey I wanna go get another book, come with me?" Katara walked over to him.

"Oh sure, pomegranate?" Zuko offered.

"Thank you," she smiled slipping her hand into his knowing mai was watching. Zuko blushed with a smile and squeezed her hand back.

"You knew?" Mai looked at ty Lee annoyed when the two left.

"They both told me they love each other, I didn't tell anyone else, who am I to play match maker?" Ty Lee stole some bread from Azula to feed the turtle ducks.

"Why didn't you say anything? I still have feelings for Zuko," mai glared at her but ty Lee pursed her lips and forced a smile.

"Youre not a good friend mai, you don't love Zuko you want control of him because you know you can and won't have him ever again," Ty Lee sighed looking back at her.

"You aren't nice," she said softly.

"Like we were ever actually friends," mai scoffed standing up.

"I thought we were once..." she looked down nervously.

"Everyone's on zukos side, and I'm being replaced by some water bending skank because she's pretending to be nice? I know your dumb ty lee but I didn't think you were this dumb," mai kicked a rock in the water to make the turtle ducks run the other direction of the girls.

"Being a little harsh don't you think mai?" Azula sighed unamused by the tantrum.

"You think I'm harsh? One of you are next to being left behind too, Zuko doesn't care about either of you and Katara is just following him around like the trophy wife she is, you don't mean anything to either of them, when were You ever friends with Zuko in the past?" Mai barked at them feeling rage take over.

They were silent.

"Fucking what ever," mai scoffed storming off.

Ty Lee looked at Azula concerned as the princess kept here face calm and eyes down. She rested her head on the princesses shoulder.

"We're still friends right?" The brunette whispered.

Azula was silent as if she didn't care, Ty Lees eyes watered a little as she was about to take her weight off her friends shoulder but a hand pushed her head back and Azula rested her head against ty lees.

"We're still friends, you're not a bitch," Azula sighed.

"Is it okay that I'm friends with Katara too?" She asked carefully.

"I'm not your keeper, be friends with people that aren't assholes, are You friends with my brother too?" Azula sniffled a little as she inspected her nails.

"I think so.. Mai did some bad stuff to him and I helped him out, Katara makes him a better person, or gives him a purpose?" Ty Lee smiled softly. She loved having friends, she wanted people to like her for her, Katara felt like a real friend since she didn't know her as a circus freak or from one of her sisters.

"It's kind of cool seeing all of us growing up?" She giggled a little looking at Azula.

The princess blushed a little at the smile of her best friend. She's heard everyone talking about her brother and his betrothed, now wife, she never cared, it annoyed her, she didn't feel happy for them. But there was something that made her feel... hope?

"Then why is mai being so obsessive over my dumb brother?" Azula rolled her eyes disappointed in how childish mai was being.
