Chapter Twenty-Seven
Thea tossed and turned in bed finding it impossible to even just close her eyes. The third task was the next day actually it was today considering the clock on her bedside table.
Thea wasn't even competing in the tournament, if she really wanted to she could probably sleep through the entire thing if she chose to. But her tendency to stress constantly about every little thing would never let her.
There was no point trying to fall asleep that was already pass possibility. Thea pulled herself out of bed and down the stairs to the common room hoping to find something to occupy her until the morning.
Thea rubbed at her eyes as she entered the room and did a double take when she saw another person sitting on the couch closest to the fireplace.
"Cedric?" Thea asked confused.
Cedric turned around his eyes widening once he saw Thea standing there.
"Thea, why are you awake?" Cedric asked just as confused.
"Couldn't fall asleep but you should be asking yourself that question."
"Touche."
"But honestly, Cedric. You need the most amount of sleep you can muster to get you through the task."
"You are starting to sound like mum."
Thea gasped clutching her hands to her chest. "How dare you."
"You heard me," Cedric replied grinning.
Thea playfully aimed a punch at his stomach which Cedric blocked and pulled her into a hug.
"Do you really think I can do this?"
"I know you can. I'll be there the entire time waiting to congratulate you!"
"But what about the others?"
"Harry has done so much better than anyone thought he was going to do, Fleur is good but the last task really rattled her and Krum, I honestly don't know but I know that you are better than him."
"Thanks, Thea."
"No problem. You just need to get through it then you will win eternal glory and we can celebrate the entire summer."
"I can't wait."
"What on earth."
Cedric and Thea spun around to see Max and Sadie enter the common room.
"Why are you all up at this time?" Marquis said entering the room.
"You do all realize that it's 3:30 in the morning." Alexander also said entering behind Marquis.
Thea took one look around her and burst out laughing leaving everyone else in the room quite confused.
"This is no laughing matter, Thea," Sadie said. "I couldn't sleep because you two were making to much noise.
"I'm s-sorry," Thea said between laughing. "It's just you two came from over there," Thea said gesturing to where Max and Sadie were standing. "And you two came from over there all at the same time and I just can't."
The others seemed to finally realize the funny situation and also burst out laughing.
"We probably should try to be semi-quiet though considering we don't want to wake up the rest of the castle," Cedric replied being the leader everyone thinks he is.
"True," Max replied and the others all nodded in agreement.
Everyone somehow managed to all fit on the same couch. Well, Max was practically sitting on Alexander's lap but it still managed to work out.
"Well, what were you two talking about before the rest of us interrupted?" Marquis asked.
"Thea was pumping me up for the last task today."
"I was."
"Well, we all believe in you and know that you are-" Alexander started but Sadie cut in before he could finish his sentence.
"Going to win."
"I was going more along the lines of going to do well but that works as well," Alexander replied.
"Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it." Cedric said smiling at all of them.
"Group hug!" Alexander shouted.
"Shhh!" Everyone else said in unison before joining together to make a group hug.
"What would I do without you guys?" Cedric asked.
Eventually, everyone had just fallen asleep on the couch together and Thea had to be careful to untangle herself from everyone so they wouldn't wake up. Max and Alexander were all cuddled up with each other and Thea just couldn't take all the cuteness.
Cedric and Marquis had woken up around the same time as Thea so the three of them went down to breakfast leaving the couple and the extremely heavy sleeper, Sadie to their own devices.
During the time that the three of them had practically had a three-course meal for breakfast, the rest of school and their guests trickled in. Plenty of people had been over to wish Cedric luck or even ask for an autograph.
Cedric never said no but wasn't enjoying all the attention as much as someone else might. Cho eventually came over and asked to talk to Cedric privately so Cedric left but in his place, the rest of the group arrived and began hungrily attacking the food that was in front of them.
"So now that Cedric isn't here and the rest of you are, I can finally discuss my plan with the rest of you."
"Cool, what is it?" Sadie asked her mouth half full.
"It doesn't matter how Cedric goes or even if he comes last but either way we will have a party in the common room tonight to celebrate and another one at the Diggory's place once we all go on holidays."
"Oh my gosh." Max gasped. "That sounds so cool!"
"We have to do it," Alexander said.
"We are doing it." Thea chipped in.
"Ok so, we are all reprising our roles from the last party we held. So is everyone clear about what they are doing?"
"Yep." Everyone said in unison.
"Cool," Marquis replied. "Let's just get through this task first."
"Hands in?" Sadie asked.
"Yep."
"1... 2... 3... Go, Cedric!"
