Hunting Diana Part 11
Chapter 11
“I don’t know what to tell you, Hun, I can’t fix it.”
I look up at Cynthia and sigh. Knowing deep down that there is nothing that she can really do, I didn’t get my hopes up, but it still sucks being told that you will have to do without your powers.
“We can’t wait,” I tell them with a nod. “We need to hit her when she least expects it, and this happens to be a perfect time.”
“I agree. Ivy can stay here with the boys, and we can attack,” Wyatt says.
What I should do, is nod my head in agreement, but I don’t. “I’m going with you.”
“No,” Aaron says, “we are not letting you go in there defenseless.”
“So, what, you’re going to resort to what Diana did to me? Lock me up in a room; strap me down to a bed, because that is the only way that you can keep me from following you.”
Aaron sits down beside me. Squeezing my hand, he replies, “You know I couldn’t do that to you. We just don’t want you to get hurt.”
Looking around at the other people in the room, I see matching expressions on all their faces. They don’t want me to go in without my powers, but it isn’t their choice. They cannot decide what is best for me. My eyes contact with a pair of brown ones. I see it there, he doesn’t want me to go either, but what he should be worried about is his own outcome.
“What about Chris? Is he going with you?”
I watch as he darts his eyes around the room as if he doesn’t know the answer either. Finally, Wyatt speaks up. “Yes, we need someone who knows their way around the compounds.”
“He doesn’t have a power,” I point out.
Aaron sighs. “But he isn’t as important to us as you are.”
“He’s still a person, and if he goes, I go.”
“He is also sitting right here,” Chris mumbles causing us all to look over at him with a glare. He sends us a sheepish smile as his mouth snaps shut. “I’m sorry, but if you are going to sit here and talk about a plan, which I am supposed to be helping out with, I think that I should have some say so.”
Aaron’s grip tightens on mine as he looks over at Chris. “You lost that right when you put Ivy in danger. What did you think? That we would just let you be part of the group after what you did? Keep wishing, Chris, because as long as I live, you will never be trusted.”
“I’m sorry,” Chris mumbles, “but I did help you find her.”
“After you led her into a trap. You don’t love her. If you did, she wouldn’t be in the situation she is now. You’re selfish.”
“Enough,” I shout while jumping to my feet. Turning towards Aaron, I say, “I don’t trust him, and I don’t know if I ever will, but that is enough. We need his help, and if that means we have to suck it up and be cordial to each other, that is what we are going to do.” He sends me a grimace but nods any way. Looking at Chris, my eyes narrow. “And you don’t expect us to be nice. We are around you because we have to be. None of us want you hear at the moment. You’ve done enough of trying to play the victim. You need to suck it up and deal with the consequences of your actions.”
“I didn’t mean to hurt you, Ivy.”
I shrug. “Maybe you didn’t, maybe you did. I don’t care either way. The only thing I care about at the moment is finding a way to kill Diana.”
Hands grab my shoulders and turn me. Looking up, I stare into Wyatt’s green eyes. “Do you think you can kill her? If it comes down to it, will you be able to do it?”
I nod. “She never earned the right to be my mother.”
“I know,” he tells me while pulling me into his arms. “I just wish things turned out differently. I wish that you had a happy childhood.”
“Hey, don’t worry about it. I can’t remember it anyway,” I tell him with a laugh.
He shakes me. “Is there any other way to do this? Can you just stay here with the kids?”
“No,” I whisper into his chest. “Make Cynthia stay. She doesn’t need to be a part of this in her condition.”
“Alright,” he says with a sigh while pulling away from me. “Here’s the plan. We go in as quick as possible, find Diana, and kill her.”
“Sounds simple,” Clay says with a smirk.
Blayze reaches out and smacks him in the back of the head. “That’s what you said last time and look what happened.”
“True.”
“You ready, Ivy,” someone whispers in my ear.
Glancing over at Aaron, I nod. “I’m ready.”
