Finding Ivy Part 13

Chapter 13

I drop the letter, and watch as it floats to the ground. Who would take Eli? With everyone in the house, why did they pick him?

"Ivy?" I look up at Aaron. He has a slightly pained look on his face. I look in his hands, and see the letter. So, he knows too.

     "Yeah?"

"You're not going. You can't do it, Ivy. We can get him back without you turning yourself in. We have more people that work with us. We can do it. Don't give up, and don't do anything stupid."

"If it comes down to Eli or me, it's Eli that lives. I'm not about to let an innocent child get hurt because of some stupid war that's going on. Plus, what could they do with me? It's not like I can even control my powers."

"Don't be stupid, Ivy. It took me awhile to control my power too. Do you honestly think you're the only one that went through something like that? I know it's hard for you, seeing as you just found everything out, but you need to suck it up. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. You need to be the leader. You need to calm down, and think if you want everyone to come out of this alive."

I took a deep breath and let it out. I know he's right. Calming down, I realize that I need to think.

"Okay, let's grab the twins and bring them in the living room. Cynthia needs to make sure they're okay, and she needs to fix your arms too."

We walk towards the living room, and I can hear them talking amongst themselves.

"You need to tell her, Wyatt," Cynthia says.

"How am I supposed to tell her about it? She doesn't remember the rest of her family. I'm lucky she even remembers me. I'm not about to spring something this big on her right now, and that's final."

"Whatever, but when she gets mad at you for keeping it a secret, don't come crying to me."

"Aw, don't get mad. Look, I'm sorry I just don't think she is ready yet. I don't want her to go on information overload. She's still getting used to the fact that these things exist."

"Fine, if you honestly think it's the right thing to do."

I look at Aaron for help in what they are talking about. He looks just as confused as I feel and just shrugs his shoulders. I don't have time to worry about some secret my brother is hiding from me. I need to find out how to get Eli safe.

We walk into the living room, making noise so they know that we are coming. Wyatt looks over at me with a guilty look on his face. If he wanted to keep something secret, then he should really work on his expressions.

"Um, guys?" I ask unsure. Cynthia turns this time, and immediately notices the twins dangling from our grasps. She gasps, and quickly makes her way towards them. She puts two of her fingers on the pulse on their necks. I hear her let out a breath full of relief.

"They're fine. Somebody on their side can put people to sleep. It doesn't hurt them at all. It's just like a sedative."

"Good," I say. "Will you heal Aarons arms? It looks like I burnt him pretty badly."

"Sure, sweetie. Don't worry about it okay. When you have an offensive power like that it's hard to control."

I just nod my head at her and make my way across the room where Wyatt is sitting on the couch. I look over at him, I don't want to say it out loud yet, so I just hand him the letter. I can see him give me a curious look, before his eyes turn to the paper in his hand. He starts to read, and fury quickly covers his face. I don't know why he is so mad. Just earlier, he wanted to leave Eli with Ms. Norwood, and now he's mad?

"What's wrong, Wyatt?" Cynthia asks from the other side of the room.

I look over and gasp. A blue light is emitting from her hands. Aaron's skin is slowly turning back to normal. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

"You need to read this." Wyatt's voice interrupts my staring, and I look away slightly embarrassed for watching them for so long.

Cynthia grabs the letter, and I can see her fist tightening on the sheet crumbling it on the side. I honestly don't understand why they are so angry. I mean, yeah it's Eli, everybody loves him, but this anger looks deeper. It looks more like hate than anger.

"You need to tell her, Wyatt. You know who the letter is from. You can't keep it from her for to long."

"Yes, I can, and I'm not telling her until I think she's ready. She doesn't need to know right now. You weren't there the first time she found out. I can't put her through that right now."

"Guys, I'm still in the room, and quite frankly I don't really care what the secret is that you're keeping. The only thing I want right now is to get Eli back safely. We need to think up a plan and go with it."

We sit there debating various plans of action. Somebody would make one, and then another person would find a large hole in the plan. We need to find a plan that is close to perfect. I know it won't be perfect. No matter how hard you try, there will always be a possibility of something you don't expect to happen. That's when the plan hit me.

"Hey, I have a plan," I say to Cynthia, Wyatt, and Aaron.
