13: Old Enemies Part 2
She pulled away too soon with a cold shoulder. It burned a bit, Jesse had to admit. They still had to talk. He still had to get on his knees and apologize for what he had done.
But first, Jesse had to get rid of the Vernon beside his girlfriend.
Jesse turned to Kasper, offered him an ugly glare, matched with a scowl.
"Kasper," Jasper muttered. "Eight point seven million people live in this city and you happen to find my girlfriend. Should I be surprised or worried?"
"Jesse," India shouted out in surprise. "Don't be mean."
Kasper leaned over to India, his mouth inches from her face. "I told you he wouldn't be happy." Jesse clenched his fists tighter as to not pummel the guy. All he could focus on was the limited amount of space between the two.
"Actually you said he would kill you," India responded with a sideways glance. "And I doubt he wants to go to jail."
"I wouldn't mind it," Jesse interrupted. "Especially if you don't back away from her face."
Kasper held up two hands in surrender and backed away. "I should get going before I have to start writing my will. It was good to see you India!"
"Yeah you too Kasper! I'll see you around."
"I'll invite you to all of the community showers alright," he said with a wink and a laugh before turning to the door.
"What in the fucking hell is he talking about," Jesse growled, nearly shouting. "I should have kicked his a$s last year when I had the chance."
"Calm down," India muttered, taking her seat at the table. "He was just joking. Our dorms are on the same floor where there's a community bathroom. I was telling him that I'm not comfortable with that so I'll be walking up and down two flights of stairs to the closest female bathroom."
Jesse took his seat in front of her. His iced coffee and since turned into just watered down coffee. He pushed it out of his way.
"You're going to a community bathroom? I'm not okay with that babe."
India threw her hands up in the air in exasperation. "Did you not hear anything I just said?" Jesse grimaced as he knew this Kasper thing was going to kill him, and thus killing India as well.
India shook her head softly, her eyes finding the window that not too long ago, Jesse's eyes were glued too. From the twinkle in her eye, slowly forming into a tear, Jesse feared that like him, she wasn't focusing on the life outside that glass. Her mind was completely else where.
"Baby," Jesse whispered, reaching over to take her hand. She grasped it tightly, reminding him of finding her in the hospital. She held on so tightly that night. She never let go.
"We need to talk Jesse."
