Chapter 1 - He Who I Hate (Mischief)

*This is a side-story/sequel to Don't Let Me Break More. I would recommend reading that first, though I honestly have no control over you, so do what you want. With that said, I hope you enjoy.*

We were brought into existence around similar times. He was only slightly older than me. Meanwhile, the boy who won't be named was years younger than him. Somehow in some way I would separate them and get who I want in my life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It all started a long time ago. A long long time ago.
"Hello. I am the fanciful, handsome, brave, and dashing. I am Prince and you are?" Prince glanced down at me, a smile lighting up his face.
"Hi. I-I..." I started hesitantly.
"Don't crowd him, you guys." Someone pushed the others away, not that they were really crowding me. In my opinion, you can't crowd a person by surrounding them with three people. Not that all three were that close either. Two were, but one was at least three steps back staring at me through his cold and calculating four eyes.
"I'm Mischief." I smiled at the others, holding out my hand with the intent of shaking the others hands.
"The name's Morality but these guys often call me Dad." the perky guy who had told the others to back off, shook my hand enthusiastically. He smiled brightly before he wandered away saying something about cookies and stranger things. The cold guy turned to me and shook my hand.
"Logic." he spoke bluntly before he went off. I learned later that he was off contemplating the universe. I held my hand out to Prince, but he turned away, instead leading me on a tour of our home.
"No need to be so formal. I may be royalty, but we don't need more lame emotions in Thomas's head.
"Thomas?" I questioned.
"Our human..." he went on to explain everything to me. Where we were, what we could do, and how long him and the others had existed. He showed me his room and I got to see all the golden furniture. The walls were a royal red and the floor was gold, except for a violet rug that was placed at the foot of his bed. We sat in his room for hours, discussing life and watching all his favorite movies.
It became normal for me to talk with him everyday at least once. That was when life was beautiful. When life was perfect. Along the way, another emotion appeared in Thomas's headspace and before long the boy I hate to name came to live.
His name, technically is Anxiety. Not that I care about him in the slightest. Around the same time, Determination also appeared. He would come to be my best friend, but more on him later. Back to Anxiety... I remember his first day in the headspace. It's a night that still makes me cringe.
:
"I'm telling you guys, I feel something. It's like Sadness but not quite. It's like Thomas is starting to feel something new. Something unbridled. He's starting to experience a new emotion that makes me think of the villains in the Disney movies Prince is always having us watch." I spoke into the room.
"I must say I agree with you Mischief. Something is changing inside Thomas. At first I thought it had something to do with him being in this new school with all these new people, but there has been a shifting in the lower parts of Thomas's mindspace. I can no longer find Carefree and when I asked some of the others about her, they told me she'd been demoted down to a lower position. I can only imagine that this is because space was needed for a newcomer." Morality spoke from his chair in the common room. We were all having a meeting while Thomas was still. Caught in dreamland for at least another hour.
"Who must be this villain? I say we slay this beast before it grows to be too big to control." Prince thundered, pulling his sword out of nowhere and slashing it into the wall. It sunk into the surface but when he pulled the blade out there were no marks left behind to show that it had ever happened.
"Cut it out Prince. This new emotion may not be as bad as we're all pegging them to be. Carefree is the one that got moved down, which must mean that the new emotion is close to her or her direct opposite. This means that the new emotion could be; Lighthearted, Joyous, Elated, Cheerful, Gleeful, Blithe, or on the more negative side; Depressed, Sad, Dissatisfied, Troubled, Unhappy, Anxious, Heavyhearted, or Worried." Logan started, providing healthy insight into the situation.
"Great deduction Logic. Now let's think carefully about this. We already have emotions in the mindspace that cover Sadness, Depression, Unhappy, Joy, Blithe, Glee, and Cheerfulness. That leaves Lighthearted, Elated, Blithe, Dissatisfied, Troubled, Anxious, Heavyhearted, and Worried." Morality thought out loud once more.
"Now if we categorize them based off of the emotions we have left, we have: what I would categorize as a Downer, Someone who's constantly worried and anxious, or Someone who's looking up at the positives all the time." Logic provided. It was clear that he was about to continue when Prince cut him off.
"Let's hope it's that one, otherwise the person's blood will be spilt and flood down the halls as I carry them out to the trash heap." Prince's words were sharp as knives and his expression made me want to swoon at his feet. He's so adorably cute when he has the desire to be the hero of the mindspace.
"Even if it is one of the other two, we can't just go around killing as we please within the mindspace. That's not how life works for us." Logic yelled over to Prince.
"I am, was created to be a hero. What is a hero if they cannot handle others in their own world? You can say whatever you like and do whatever you wish to do, but I gotta tell you that if this emotion turns out to be something bad. If this emotion isn't positive. I will take matters into my own hands and dispose of them. And there's nothing any of you can do to stop me." This dark side of Prince we didn't see often, but when we did it made me want to marry him. It was kinda sexy to see him in this different light. It proved that just because his job description made him happy on most occasions, he is also capable of being something other than hopeful or caught in a daydream.
Slowly a clap of thunder shook through the mindspace. An entire shudder of everything we held dear. It sent Morality onto the ground where he curled up and looked around, nervously hoping the others were alright as well. Logic was hanging onto one of the chairs for dear life. The building shook again, but this time the shuddering just kept going. Determination was sprawled out on the floor a couple paces from me. I had fallen onto Prince and was lightly shuddering in his arms. Though it wasn't because of the fear. I was experiencing anticipation at being so close to Prince for so long. The place continued shaking until the door burst open on it's hinges. A shape was dropped into the room and the shuddering stopped as suddenly as it had begun.
"Well that was bizarre. Everybody alright?" Morality asked, getting up tentatively, as if he didn't trust that the tremors were actually over. Logic, Determination, Prince and I all nodded and slowly I got off of my fairytale prince. He glanced to the doorway with curiosity in his eyes. The shape began to hover and move down the hall. In a hurry, Morality and myself ditched the others to follow the object. The others probably would have followed if not for the fact that Thomas had awoken at this point. We ended up barging through a door that hadn't existed yesterday. Inside, he was sat, doll like on his bed. His eyes fluttered open and revealed dark brown irises that glared over at us.
"What are you staring at?" he asked.
"You." Morality answered shortly, the naïve fool.
"Why?" he asked in annoyance.
"It's not everyday that a newcomer causes hurricane conditions in here before floating away." Morality came to stand beside the boy's bed where he was still sat.
"Who are you?" I asked, my level of annoyance clearly outranking this boys.
"The names Anxiety." He said shortly, leaning away from all of Morality's clingy attempts at affection. Internally I screamed out in happiness. My Prince would destroy this scum where he stood and then he'd finally realize that I am perfect for him. Morality glanced over to me as he spoke, finally pulling Anxiety in for a single hug.
"Whatever you do, don't tell Prince. I want to wait a day or two before we introduce these two." Since when was Morality this logical? Must be spending too much time with that old stick in the mud, I guess. I nodded before running out of the room, shouting some excuse while on my way. It didn't take long to find Prince, he was on his way to his bedroom. I turned to him and gave him a knowing smile. He caught on easily enough.
"Who's the new emotion?" he asked.
"Say's his name's Anxiety." I spit out. My hero grumbled before he stalked towards the new room. I hastily followed. We barged into the room to see Morality was gone and Anxiety was laying flat on his back. Sweat had stuck his hair to his forehead and his eyes were glazed over in a daze. Prince had his sword out and slowly brought it up over his head. The emotion below him started to whimper and whine softly. It was then that Prince's determination broke. He looked at the boy and stopped his movements. All he could do was watch in awe as the boy under him began to mumble words in his slumber.
"Don't fail here. You can't fail here. You are motivation. You drag your host under. You were made to be hated. Don't succumb. Don't fail. Don't fail. Fail. Fail. Fail." Anxiety's words grew stiff, just like his body in the bed. Prince lowered his sword and leant down over the body. His arms wrapped around him once before he pulled me to the door and we left.
I couldn't understand how only a few hours were capable of changing my life so that Prince would worry more about another other than myself. How could he do this to me? I had been around for almost his entire existence but instead of loving me, he chose to find companionship and courtship in this other who he had known for a much shorter length of time. That boy should mean nothing to him. And soon he would mean nothing to him, if I had anything to say about any of this.
*I meant to post this the other day, but I basically passed out from being tired, so that happened. So happy belated Easter to anyone who celebrates and even those who don't. I'll try to post at least once more later this week but in the meantime, happy reading!*
