But What About This Guy? (Zootopia)
A/N: (Please watch the video before reading, so that you can easily understand where I'm going with this -- unless you've already guessed at who I'll be talking about.)
<><><><><><><><><><>
"Welcome to Zootopia..."
Blah-blah-blah-blah.
"Where Predators and Prey live in harmony..."
Blah-blah-blah-blah.
"Will Nick and Judy get together romantically?"
Blah-blah-blah-blah.
"When will Zootopia 2 come along?"
Blah-blah-blah-blah.
"Will Clawhauser get a love interest?"
Blah-blah-blah-blah.
"Nick and Judy are NOT meant to be together romantically! They're just FRIENDS!!!"
Blah-blah-blah-blah.
"Who will be Nick and Judy's respective love interests, I wonder?"
Blah-blah-blah-blah.
"Who'll be Team WildeHopps' next villain?"
Blah-blah-blah-blah.
"Where is Nick's mom? Is she still alive? Is his father?"
Yes, yes, these are ALL VERY legitimate and excellent questions! But we're ALL missing the most important question of all in the ENTIRE FILM! So much so that I don't think I've seen ANYBODY talk about it.
What is it? Well, judging by the picture above us, I'm guessing you already know the REAL question I'm going to ask?
Oh, you do, do you? Well, then, enlighten me! ,':-)
You've guessed RIGHT! XD
The REAL question we should be asking is: "What happened to Bobby Catmull? Did he ever get to follow his dream of being a composer -- or something music-oriented?"
Well, technically, that's TWO questions, but it's the same topic.
Speaking of "topic", let's get back to the topic at hand. Namely, whatever happened to Bobby Catmull, the awesome and completely underappreciated and underrated minor character that we only get to see in the beginning? I mean, this guy is one cool cat! Aside from Judy's adorable acting skills, I rewatch the beginning part solely to watch Bobby's amazing performance as the soundtrack and maestro of the play.
Seriously, seeing his serious, focused, in-the-moment, dedicated, enthusiastic, I'm-loving-this expressions that he makes as he does the background, behind-the-scenes music for the play. He doesn't care that he isn't on stage; he's PERFECTLY content doing what he loves most, which is playing on his little instruments and making music for the "soundtrack" of the play. So precious! ❤_❤

"I Have A Dream!":
Anyway, what happened to Bobby? Did he go fulfill his dream? Well, no one knows for sure (especially since Disney didn't care enough about him to showcase him anymore). But another important question is "Did his dream even involve music? Or was he like so many children who have one dream one moment, then change it as they get older?"
I mean, let's start with me. Between the ages of 4-10 (if not even earlier), I wanted to be a train, a raptor (of the dinosaur kind), a police officer, a fireman, a soldier, and a pilot. And it changed constantly, and other times they coincided and combined. By 11-14, I wanted to still be in the military, as well as a musician, a missionary, and a leader of a vigilante, black ops organization dedicated to locate and rescue kidnapped children and end slavery permanently -- not necessarily all at once, of course.
Then by ages 15 and up, I ended up giving up any notions of doing a physical job, including military, since I wasn't fit for it and take orders that would probably go against my moral beliefs. Not only that, but the wars that I would be fighting wars that wouldn't be for idealistic causes like in WWII, but to help establish a New World Order (which, between the Bible and watching Marvel movies, new that that was a BAD idea).
So, I eventually shifted to becoming a writer. I still wanted to be a missionary, but God was telling us that it wasn't time yet, so I moved on to other things. I also wanted to get married at 18 or at 21 like my mom and have a dozen kids (oh to be young and idealistic LOL), but then I realized that probably wasn't a great idea either. So I dumped that unrealistic dream. lol XD
But, when it's all said and done, there are core elements to these dreams that I have always wanted to fulfill in my lifetime:
1) Be like Thomas the Useful Tank Engine by useful and helpful to others, and always be willing to lend a helping hand if I have the ability and the opportunity.
2) Be like my namesake Caleb from the Bible (as I'm sure it's with you, GerithorDunedain ), who was courageous and zealous for God, and was wholehearted to the Faith and had complete faith that God would help them destroy the Canaanite Giants -- even if he alone had to fight, for he knew what God was capable of, and was singled out by God, even set apart from Joshua, as "having a different spirit and follows Him wholeheartedly." (Numbers 14:24). Even when everyone in the Israelite camp was ready to stone him, Caleb stood firm with Joshua, Aaron, and Moses even to the point of death -- even trying to stop the people from rebelling, trying to convince them to have faith and to take the land that God had already given them. And after God exiled the assembly from entering the land of Canaan for a whole generation, Caleb continued to have faith that God would keep His promise and let him live long enough to not only see the Promised Land, but to fight the Giants and claim his inheritance -- to the point of keeping himself physically fit and healthy in preparation of the Conquest. And there's no sign of him being bitter against his brother Israelites for prolonging the day of his inheritance, but instead focused on God and trusted in Him to prepare him and his fellow Israelites to conquer the Giants of Canaan. And conquer, he did, at the age of 85, and destroying three Anakite rulers (who are Giants) and their cities as he led the Tribe of Judah to their inheritance (read Joshua Chapters 14-15).
It's one of my dreams to have my namesake's "different spirit" and "wholehearted faith" and "boldness".
3) To have a close, intimate relationship with God and to serve His kingdom faithfully, and to be able to enter the Kingdom that He will establish at His Millennial Reign. To see Him work so marvelously in my life and to let Him use me and to direct me to wherever He needs me to go.
There are a couple of other ones as well, but I don't want to lengthen this any longer than it needs to. Plus, I believe I've made my point and this was supposed to merely show an example.
Anyway, I'm sorry for rambling. I wasn't trying to steer away from the topic at hand and talk about me. But I was trying to show that most of us -- if not all of us -- rarely, if ever, have the same dream throughout our lives, and can end up with different dreams, hopes, and passions by the time we transition into adulthood. Not always, and there ARE exceptions -- many, in fact -- but as a general rule, we, as humans, change consistently, and, as a rule, can tend to have different goals, hopes, dreams, and passions by the time we are adults, in contrast to when we were children.
There are, of course, those who know themselves very well and end up fulfilling the dream job that they've always wanted. Then there are those who DO know themselves, and realize (like I did) that the occupation that they wanted to do ends up being not for them or that it wasn't really what they had expected, so they end up finding an occupation that suits them more and that they enjoy immensely!
Sadly, there are many who, unfortunately, are still trying to find their dreams -- or end up giving them up and instead compromise on a job that they end up hating and is stressful for the sole reason of getting more pay to keep up with the rising cost of living and to pay off their student loans quicker, rather than doing the dream job that they would've loved doing.
As a wise fortune cookie once said: "If you have a job without aggravations, you don't have a job." Which means this: If you're enjoying your job, it's not a job -- it's a PASSION! A passion that you get PAID for! Contrary to popular opinion, if you love your occupation, it is NOT a job. If you love what you do, it becomes effortless. For example, if I write and/or talk about history or Bible (Biblical history included) topics, and get paid for it, then I'm getting paid to do a passion that I love: History and Bible. If I wrote something about advanced math, business, chemistry, politics and economics, or any other topic that I absolutely have a grind-fest with (and something that I get stressed and aggravated with), then that is a JOB. Plain and simple.
But then, there's those people who don't want their passions to become jobs and have the life sucked out of their passions and hobbies. Which I guess is understandable.

My Theory(ies):
So back to our question(s): What happened to Bobby Catmull the Enthusiastic Maestro? Was he able to do his dream occupation? And what IS that dream occupation? Is it something having to do with music? Or is he doing it as a side job? Or is he doing something completely different?
Again, as I have said, I don't know. But I have a few theoretic scenarios that could've taken place.
If you're an optimist like me, you're probably hoping that:
1) Bobby grew up to become . . . whatever that's associated with music, whether a maestro, a DJ, a composer, a musician, a music instructor/teacher, or what-have-you.
Or 2) He did the music for those movies that you see Duke Weaseltown trying to sell. You know, the John Powell of the Zootopia world!
Or, if you're a realist, you're probably thinking, and realizing, that Bobby's passion probably could've either became a side occupation or that it changed into something else -- something that many people end up doing at least once in their lives.
Or, if you're one of those pessimists, you might be thinking that:
1) He never had a chance to do it because of the prejudice against predators, so he wasn't able to be who he wanted to be.
And/or 2) He gave up on his dream and compromised, ending up taking on a job that he doesn't like, either because he gave up on it, because people kept telling him that it couldn't be done and convinced him to try something more practical and realistic, or because of pressure from his parents and peers (which is very unlikely).
Or, if you're into dark and sadistically tragic stuff, Bobby either:
1) Ended up like Nick where he allowed the prejudice to get to him and became a criminal and probably ended up in jail.
Or 2) Bobby died before he could fulfill his dream. :'( >_<
Though, personally, I'm going to believe that, like Judy, Bobby was able to fulfill his dream. ^_^

Conclusion:
And what about the Sharla the Ewe (female sheep) who wanted to be an astronaut and the jaguar kid (who wasn't named, lets name him after the Spanish word for "Jaguar" (pronounced "hog-u-are") because I'm lazy) who wanted to be an actuary (if you don't know what an actuary is, it's "someone who compiles and analyzes statistics and uses them to calculate insurance risks and premiums.")? What happened to them? Were they able to have the occupations that they wanted?
Well, ask yourself those questions by looking over what we've just gone through, and come to your own conclusion. As for me and my optimistic upbringing, they've all gotten the jobs that they've wanted. Because I'm not like a lot of people who are only interested in giving characters tragic backgrounds, backstories, or endings (*cough, cough* LOTR *cough*).
I'm joking. But seriously, though, what do you guys think? What do you think happened to these three peers of Judy? Did they get the jobs they wanted, like Judy? Or did they have to find them through circumstances like Nick?
Also, as a side note, did anyone EVER think that Gideon Gray would be a BAKER of all things?! 'Cause I most certainly didn't! O_O
Anyway, I hope you guys have enjoyed this article. To those of you who were waiting for more Zootopia articles, I apologize for the wait, but I was busy with other things and I kept drawing a blank as to what to write, and I had already written 3 or 4 Zootopia articles already as it was, so I was trying to do other fandoms. And I still will. But I will try to make more Zootopia articles when I can. But I can't promise that they'll come often. I also plan on writing some Narnia and Guardians of Ga'Hoole articles as well, since I, shockingly, haven't done any of those yet. But before I do those, I'm going to be writing a couple more Zootopia articles, before doing some HTTYD ones in celebration of the coming of HTTYD 3: The Hidden World!!! Probably not on the actual movie itself, since I haven't watched it yet, but on other things concerning HTTYD until I have the opportunity to watch the third film. Then once I've watched it, expect me to write several articles on this film! ^_^
I also apologize that this article is over 2,000 words long. I really didn't think that this would exceed 1,000 words. But it did. And to be honest, compared to some of my other articles (like a couple of my HTTYD ones), this is short in comparison. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to read this. I appreciate it. Have a great week, my Furians! :-)
It's been a hustle, sweethearts! ;-)
