I realized that it was not possible that the fall was that padded. I felt something wrap around me. I looked up, and saw Nate's face staring back at me. Then, I looked down and realized that his arms were wrapped around me. I heard him whisper, "Are you okay?" I looked into his eyes again and blushed. "I... think so. W-why would you..." My voice trailed off.

His response was simple: "I couldn't risk letting you get more hurt."

"What... would you have done if I left?

"...I would've followed you... to make sure you're safe. Please... please stay at least one night. I--We want to clean your wounds so you don't get infected. We want to at least help you get back on your feet. Even if you do want to go back out there, please let us clean you up.

"F-fine. Just... just don't worry about me. I've adjusted to the life out there. Pretty much..."

Nate helped me up. "If you want, you can use my shower, and I can wash your clothes."

"Its okay. I have another change of clothes in my bag. Just in case I can't find shelter when it rains or something... Wait! NO! I dropped it when that guy stole my guitar! Gah! I just lost my clothes and all of my money! I made like $3! Now I can't pay for my only meal tomorrow. Great."

"You only eat once a day?!? How in the world do you survive???" Dookie asked, shocked.

"Like I said, I'm used to it. But now I'll practically starve to death." I replied.

"No. You won't. I want to help you, if you'll let me." Nate pleaded, looking into my eyes hopefully.

"I... don't wan--"

"You don't want to be a bother, I know." Nate interrupted. "But you won't be. I want to help you. Please. Stay here for a while."

"Honestly, I agree with Nate. You should stay somewhere at least until you heal." Dookie added.

"You guys sure are persistant, aren't you? Fine, I'll stay. You guys will only beg me more. And Nate?" I asked.

"Yeah?" Nate responded.

"Thanks, I really appreciate it." I thanked him, with a genuine smile on my face.
