Annabeth woke up to Bobby and Mathew, her half brothers jumping on her bed and screaming at her to wake up. She groaned and put her pillow over her head, "five more minutes" she said into her pillow, "Bobby, Mathew, leave your sister alone!" Helen, her stepmom, called from downstairs. The boys jumped off her bed and ran off. Slowly she rolled out of bed, got dressed and walked downstairs to Helen making breakfast. She glared at her brothers who gave her innocent smiles. Helen sighed, "Bobby, Mathew you had one job. One job" Annabeth laughed, then she heard the doorbell, "Luke's here," she said grabbing her stuff. She opened the door and walked out to his cold stare.

Luke is the captain of the football team and Annabeth's 'boyfriend' if you could call him that, he is the definition of toxic, he's abusive, he cheats, he blackmails her so she can't break up with him.

Annabeth sighed, she needed to break up with Luke. She hated him. He had forced her to push her friends away, the result of more blackmail. They drove to school, neither of them saying anything. When they got to school, Luke grabbed her arm tightly, twisting it, and whispered in her ear "Remember, you are mine." Annabeth nodded nervously. She wouldn't normally be this weak, but Luke had a way of scaring her into getting what he wants.

Walking into the school she passed the office. Suddenly, the principal Mrs Booker, (Actual teacher) stopped her. "We have a new student, I would like you to show him around and give him the tour" she said with an exhausted smile. Annabeth smiled back and said "Sure I'd love to!"

Then she saw him. He had raven black hair, and sea green eyes, that were staring at her. She quickly looked away, and glared at the door, "Annabeth, this is Percy, Percy this is Annabeth, " Mrs Booker said, and quickly walked into her office.

"Well, let's go" Annabeth said sharply, she didn't mean to sound harsh but she couldn't stop herself. Percy looked hurt but Annabeth tried to ignore it, instead focusing on the floor tiles.

That was another thing about Annabeth, she loved architecture. Some day she hoped to design a building that people will remember for centuries to come. But when Luke heard about all her fantasies, and how they didn't involve him, he burned all her sketches that she had worked so hard on. Now she only sketched at the library, having to ask the librarians to hide her sketches for her.

The library was her haven. Whenever she was upset, she would go there and read until she calmed down. Luke never went in one. He always claimed that it smelled awful, like nerds and geeks.

"You okay?" Percy asked, Annabeth looked up, he looked genuinely concerned, "I'm fine" she snapped, "mind your own business." She walked faster wanting to get out of this as soon as possible.

She turned a corner and realized Percy was not with her, she retraced her steps to find him talking to Jason, she walked closer to hear that they were talking about pizza? She sighed, "Percy were not finished, I need to show you the amazing second floor" she said sarcastically. Percy sighed dramatically "do we Have to" "yes!" she said losing patients, "come on" she grabbed his arm and pulled him away "see you around" he called to Jason
