The date was may 1st 1966, Johnny's  seventeenth birthday. Pony and Johnny had been dating for a little over a month by this point and they both were happy as ever. The day before the Greasers we're getting ready for the surprise party they where gonna throw for Johnny.
The day of the party the Greasers had the Curtis house doused in birthday decorations. They quickly put all this up the night before while pony was out at the lot with Johnny. Dally was the leader of the operation, making sure everything was perfect. Dally didn't mess around when it came to parties, and he knew this one had to be a good one. Steve and two-bit worked together to make a nice cake, Soda was in charge of music, and Dally and Darry put up all the decorations.  Dally neglected to tell ponyboy the news of the party. He knew pony could keep a secret to save his life so all they told him was to invite johnny over.
That day Johnny and Pony woke up in the lot. The two had planned to spend the day together before the party. They ended up, getting some lunch and just going to see a movie, which was fine by both of them. By the time the movie was done the party was about to start.
"Oh shoot, I forgot Dally and the other guys were gonna come over and hang out for a bit. We better head over there.."
Pony and Johnny got a move on, and headed for the Curtis house.
Once they got there Johnny and pony took a second before going inside.
"Thanks for making my birthday so special pony.."
"Of course Johnny..."
Ponyboy leaned in to kiss Johnny. As their lips touched the door swung open, exposing all of the greasers to Johnny and ponyboys secret.
