JAMEY ROLLED his head back in laughter, his laugh only becoming louder as he replayed Cora's sentence in his head.

"I don't understand why you are laughing." She pouted, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I'm laughing because of you." He said, bringing his laughter down.

"Seriously, Jamey. I was mortified."

"So? He said no to you, I would say you had it coming."

"How exactly?" She looked up at him, her brows furrowed.

"Come on, Cora, you mean to tell me that you expected to walk up to this guy who was busy working and minding his own business and you yelled at him, yet you didn't expect a no?" He asked, shocked.

"I really didn't." Cora shook her head and laid back down on her bed.

Jamey climbed up the bed and laid beside her and grabbed her hand to hold. "It's alright, cous. We all make... some mistakes."

"Just drop it," she pulled her hand away from his. 

"Sorry." He watched her for a minute as she closed her eyes and sighed. He nudged her carefully and a playful grin spread across his face. "I smelt your mom's best baked cookies on my way up here."

Cora opened her eyes, having a smoke of her own. "I smelt them too."

"She wouldn't miss them that much, would she?" He smirked.

"Not unless she has a group meeting today."

"If she doesn't?" He asked already knowing the answer.

"Then she wouldn't mind." Cora laughed.

Jamey jumped off the bed and extended his hand to Cora, he pulled her up and led her to the kitchen where a tray of freshly baked cookies conveniently sat on the kitchen island.

Jamey walked behind the island, picking the tray off the island and placing it on the table.  "Help yourself."

Cora ran to fridge and pulled out the milk while Jamey got the glasses. They both sat munching on cookies till her mother returned home.
