-23-
I let my legs lead the way, from one street into the other and from one alley into the other. the cold weather embraced me, making every hair on my skin stand. I didn't even know exactly why seeing you affected me that way. maybe it was because I always thought you would see something in me if you ever payed attention - if only you looked my way. but that moment, our eyes locked and it didn't phase you one bit. it made no difference. maybe it was because I had a little bit of hope left in me. I was greedy, and I really wanted you.
I didn't notice that I walked a lot until I was going uphill. the houses on either side looked old yet cosy. how great would it be to have a house like that with you? I leaned against the closest wall and let my legs give in. I rested the side of my head on the cold brick wall and brought my knees closer to my chest. I closed my eyes and allowed the thoughts of us together to warm me up.
time passed and I didn't move an inch. that's when I couldn't trap my emotions anymore and I found myself sobbing quietly, thinking that someone might hear me, but after a few minutes, I couldn't care less.
and just when I thought that nothing will stop me from freezing to death with no tears left in me, your voice proved me wrong.
"you know, the earth won't stop spinning, sol."
