Chapter 3

Yugi and Yami walked down the alley to the bakeshop and when they got there. The two went in the backdoor.

"I'm back" Yami took off his shoes and Yugi did also as they wore slippers in the kitchen. Suddenly a man shouted from somewhere.

"Where the hell have you been"

Yami grunted making Yugi look at him wryly. "What's your problem? I'm back now" Yami yelled as he walked through the kitchen. Then a stern looking man came in. 'Is that Uncle Jiro, he looks really old now, well not that really old but old.' Yugi looked at Jiro who was looking at Yami with rage.

"Who's that?" Jiro looked at Yugi questioningly. Yami sighed as he looked down.

"Dad, it's Mutou"

Yugi gulped as Yami's father leaned in examining his face. "H-Hello, I'm Yugi Mutou, I used to hung out with Yami when we were little." Yugi stuttered, fear was all he could feel now.

"Yugi Mutou?" Jiro backed away.

"Don't you remember that whiny boy who always followed me around." Yami looked at Yugi teasingly grinning at him. 'I swear when I get my hands on him without his father here. I'm going to cut his balls off' Yugi looked away and back to Jiro.

"Ohhhh. Yugi!! You've grown up. But why did you come here?" Jiro has his mouth split.

"He wants to help out the shop" Yami said.

'Actually just wanted to check out the place and eat' Yugi thought and rubbed his left arm with his right hand.

"Working at a cake shop is a serious job. We won't need anyone who just thinks it looks fun." Jiro had a serious tone as he looked at Yugi.

"I'll do my best, Sir" Yugi bowed and heard Jiro laugh.

"All right. If you say so, put this bandana and go try it!" Jiro handed a purple bandana at Yugi.

Yugi straightened up and saluted Yami's father, "Yes, Sir!"

Suddenly the door at the front where the cake shop is opened, "Is anybody here? I'd like some cake please.......Ringo are you still watching tv. Yami!! Can I get some cake please." A customer shouted

"Hurry up!!" Jiro shouted at Yugi making him scamper to the front counter and noticed Yami was gone. 'Ah, jeez.'

AT the glass counter Yugi was observing the customer look at the cakes, "Can I get two shortcakes, three Mont Blancs, and one cheesecake."

"O-okay, two shortcakes and one Mont Blanc..."

"No, cutiepie. I said three Mont Blancs" The woman corrected.

"Ah!! I'm sorry" Yugi blushed in embarrassment. 'Yugi get it together'

Someone yelled at the back, "Excuse me. You gave me extra change"

"What! S-sorry, thanks" Yugi was feeling confused and his eyes were spinning in circles like crazy looking at the customers. 'Ah, I don't know what's going on anymore. Where the heck is Yami!!!'

Suddenly a deep baritone voice spoke, "Here, two shortcakes, three Mont Blancs and one cheesecake for you."

Yugi looked at Yami with hair all tied up to the back as Yami reached over his head holding out a box of cakes.

"We've had some bad temp clerks, but you're the worst. No question" Yugi looked away at Yami biting his lip.

"Yam-Yams" Yugi muttered and was audible enough for Yami to hear.

"Don't call me that" Yami frowned at Yugi and remembered not to call him like that anymore. Yugi looked at him again and up to his hair. "Yami, you're hair."

"Huh?"

"Your hair looks different" Yugi reached over Yami's tied hair.

"When you work with food, that's what you do. Everybody knows that." Yami bluntly said making Yugi back his hand away. 'He looks cool though, I think with his golden bangs hanging but it's nice he seems serious about his job.' Yugi smiled while looking at Yami.

"What are you looking at?" Yami raised a brow.

"N-nothing" Yugi quickly looked away and went back to assist the customers and get their orders.

Everyone started calling Yami one by one ordering cakes at him. Yugi looked surprised about this. It looks like from his ten year absence Yami's become popular with everyone from little kids to older ladies.

"I got it, I got it. I'll take your orders one by one, okay? Just get in line." Yami said.

"Oh, of course, Yami" A customer said and the rest lined up.

"Ugh, I hate sweets and sweet words" Yami sighed off looking away.

"Yami! Don't say that to a customer it's rude." Yugi scolded and received a grunt from Yami.

Soon Yami quickly and carefully handled the long line of customers with Yugi helping him out at the rest.

Time passed and it was closing time, Yugi and Yami were cleaning the glass counter and sweeping the floor before going. After that Yugi collapsed on a chair at the store exhausted. 'This is a tough job, Uncle was right.' Yugi closed his eyes for a bit and shut them open when Jiro came in complementing them.

"I couldn't really do anything" Yugi sighed looking down at the floor. "Here" Jiro handed a potato cake.

"Sweet!" Yugi exclaimed cheerfully.

"That's for your work today" Jiro said and went back to the kitchen.

Yugi looked at the big potato cake. He took a bite and the subtle sweetness of the potato and whipped cream filled his mouth. He smiled widely at the sweetness over loading.

"Ah, It's so sweet and good."

"I can't believe dad's feeding a potato to a potato" Yami smirked at Yugi.

"YAMI! You're so mean." 'He just called me a potato. What the heck' Yugi thought munching the cake looking at Yami with mad eyes.

Yami sat down at the chair near him. "You know. In movies you see the main character's childhood friend coming back to town...having transformed into a beautiful girl or something. That doesn't seem like the case here. And you're a boy on the contrary." Yami sighed in utter disappointment.

"Sorry if I'm not a dang girl and haven't changed at all." Yugi pouted.

"I never expected much anyway" Yami leaned his chin on his hand with his elbow on the table.

'But it's true and Yami's all good looking now. Ah, why do I have to get stuck in this height. Everyone in the group's all tall and stuff' Yugi puffed his cheeks looking at the cake and taking bite after bite.

"You haven't changed either you know." Yugi mumbled eating the cake.

Yami looked at him sternly, "Huh?!I've turned into a super good looking guy"

"But you haven't grown up inside you're still mean and a teaser."

"Thanks for the compliment" Yami frowned at Yugi in upset.

"You ate that potato thing. That means you'll come back to work tomorrow right?"

"What?" Yugi jumped off of his sit.

"Did you think you did enough work to deserve that cake today?" Yami exclaimed.

'Oh, re-really?' Yugi had a troubled look.

"You're coming back right?" Yami asked.

"Y-yeah."

'Ugh. I guess it's a habit from childhood. I can't say no when he tells me to do things.' Yugi rolled his eyes.

"Great! I can take it easy from tomorrow on."

With that Yugi was going to help out the Sakata Cakery. After some minutes Yugi said his goodbyes at Yami and Jiro. He was down  on the alley going back to the Duel Ship. He looked around and became nostalgic at the place as he walked on. Suddenly a rain dropped on his cheek.

'It's going to rain' Yugi looked up and saw the night sky covered by dark rain clouds. 'If I run I could make it to the coffee shop without getting soaked.'

The moment he started to run someone pulled his arm,"Ah!" He turned around to see Yami with an umbrella and pulled him more so he was also over from the raid drops starting to fall down heavily.

"Stop making weird noise" Yami looked at him.

"Yami... Did you , chase me to give me the umbrella?" Yugi asked.

"Well, yeah. Dad's bugging me about it." Yami sighed.

"But you only have one." Yugi said as he saw that Yami only had a single umbrella with him.

"Oh." Yami realized Yugi was right. "I-I was gonna walk you home!" Yami exclaimed.

"You were?" Yugi stared at Yami in minutes. 'You just forgot to bring another one'

"What do you mean by that?" Yami asked.

"Well, it's just not like you" Yugi scratched his left cheek lightly.

"I thought you might get lost because you just moved back in, if you don't like that. I'm going home." Yami turned around a little making Yugi grab his shoulder. "W-waiiiit! Walk me home please." Yugi pleaded panicky.

"Thought you would say that." Yami smirked.

They walked side by side through the neighborhood. They passed by the octopus park where they used to play back in their child hood.

"I didn't know this was still here" Yugi looked nostalgic as he remembered the days back then.

"oh, yeah..."

"We used to play here right?" Yugi smiled as he turned to look at Yami.

"Did we? I don't remember anything from ten years ago." Yami said coldly.

"Oh, really?" Yugi saddened a bit.

"That's when I was super little so I don't remember"

"I see...." Yugi trailed off and was sad. He glanced at Yami's unfamiliar presence as they walked by heading to the Duel ship.
