Chapter Four, Adoption and Surprises
A month and a half after everyone had moved to WolfStar Manor in New Orleans and the checks were completed, Rebekah was finally meeting the twins Sue had picked out. They were brother and sister a year younger than Teddy at just a year old, and they were Oscar Jayden Shafiq and Diana Chloe Shafiq the last of their line and soon to be Shafiq-Mikaelson; Diana was the youngest of the twins by five minutes making her the baby of the family.
Rebekah was so full of nervous excitement that she thought she might burst as they sat in the parlor waiting for Sue to arrive with the twins.
"Stop that!" Kol snapped, he's asked three times now for his sister to stop bouncing her leg up and down.
"I can't help it!" Rebekah snapped back.
"Okay stop." Amara interfered, sipping her ginger ale in a bid to settle her stomach.
"Sorry Bekah." Kol sighed. "But you stressing out is making me anxious - we're twins remember - and you're worrying Teddy." He nodded to the two year old who kept glancing over despite playing with his blocks.
"I'm sorry." Rebekah apologised. "Everything's okay, little man, Auntie Bekah is just a little excited to meet my new babies. Your cousins." She reassured him, ruffling his hair earning a bright smile and giggle from the toddler.
"We play?" Teddy asked hopefully, his eyes shining brightly.
"Of course you can, my littlest wolf." Nik reassured his son as he entered the room. Pausing to kiss and greet his mate and son before searing himself on the floor beside Teddy so they could play together.
"They will be frightened at first as they lost their first Mummy and Daddy and they are younger than you so you'll have to play nicely and look after them.
Can you do that?" Andromeda asked her grandson, casting a worried look at Amara out of the corner of her eye.
"I can Nana. I can do it!" Teddy exclaimed an attempt at a serious look on his face that just made him look adorable.
"Good boy." Amara praised her son, watching with a tender loving smile as Nik and Teddy played together. The room descended into a peaceful atmosphere after that as everyone did their own thing: Andromeda was reading a romance novel, Kol was reading one of Amara's Charms textbooks.
Rebekah was browsing through a catalog with a pen in hand to circle the things she wanted to get for not only the twins and Teddy, but for all of them as well; Nik and Teddy were playing with the blocks on the rug before the fireplace building them only for Teddy to knock them over with a laugh before starting again; and Amara was passing the twins between reading the extensive Charms textbook she'd been assigned for the exam to become an Unspeakable and watching Nik and Teddy play; that is until a wave of nausea suddenly washed over her and she had to race off for the downstairs bathroom the textbook hitting the floor with a thud attracting everyone's attention.
"Are you okay, love?" Nik asked, rubbing her back as she heaved before sitting back against him. Amara could tell he was concerned just from how tense he was.
"I think so. Think I just ate something that didn't agree with me." Amara commented, easing herself to her feet to rinse her mouth out with water before brushing her teeth again. "We better go. Sue will be here with the twins soon."

The day had passed so wonderfully that Rebekah often thought she was dreaming but at the sound of Teddy, Diana and Oscar giggling as they played wonderfully together solidified it in her mind while also leaving her reeling. After meeting the twins earlier that morning they had seemed to meld into their family as if they had always been there and after taking the potion Amara made the twins now had Rebekah's blue eyes, nose and lips while still retaining resemblance to their birth parents.
They had been a little shy at first, of course, but they had clicked with Rebekah, Amara and Teddy almost immediately which lifted a weight off of everyone's shoulders.
"They're getting along so well together." Rebekah remarked happily watching the three toddlers with a happy smile.
"I know. Teddy is loving being an older cousin, and is now looking forward to being a big brother." Kol commented with a sly look towards Amara and Nik who both rolled their eyes while Sue stifled a laugh, however, Andromeda and Rebekah looked at Amara with concern and a sort of sneaking realisation.
"Now, as the day has gone wonderfully and the twins have settled better than I ever expected, and the potion has settled I just need you to sign their new birth certificates and their dual passports which I will then send to be filed with Gringotts and both MACUSA and the British Ministry of Magic." Sue explained, passing over a few documents for Rebekah to sign which she did so immediately. The second she finished signing copies appeared on the table which Sue picked up, checked over and slipped into the twins' folder before returning the folders to her purse.
"Congratulations Miss Mikaelson, you are now the proud Mama of Oscar Jayden Shafiq-Mikaelson and Diana Chloe Shafiq-Mikaelson." Sue congratulated formally, smiling brightly at Bekah who had tears in her bright blue eyes making them gleam even brighter as everyone congratulated her.
"Thank you." Rebekah whispered emotionally, hands clasping one of Amara's and one of Sue's staring from one to the other trying to convey with her eyes what she couldn't express with words.
"You don't need to thank me Bekah," Amara returned, squeezing her hand, "you deserve this and those babies deserve a loving and protective mother which I know you will be, and we're all here to help if you need it."
"Amara's right," Sue agreed, "the twins deserve a loving family after they were taken from them, and you deserve the chance to be a mother after it was forcibly taken from you by your own parents. I will have to pop in once a month for checks for a year, due to the Ministry's laws. But if you, Andy, Amara and Caroline, if she's here, ever want a girls night I'm more than happy to make the trip." Three healing smiles and nods were all the answer she needed.
"Perfect. I shall see you soon then." with that Kreacher appeared to show due to the fireplace in the main entrance that was the only fireplace connected to the Floo Network and could only be accessed by a password, where she flooed to Gringotts leaving behind a larger happy family and an old house-elf excited to have more young ones to look after and he had an inkling that soon more would be on the way.

A few days later, Amara was walking through the French quarter heading for a coffee shop where she would meet her best friends Marcel and Vincent. The twins had easily settled in much to everyone's relief and profound happiness, they especially loved Teddy and had taken to following him around to their amusement but Teddy was more than happy to oblige and play with his younger cousins.
"Little sister!" Marcel and Vincent crowed, jumping to their feet to embrace Amara the second she had entered the coffee shop, startling a laugh from her.
"Marcel! Vincent!" Amara cried, hugging them tightly and ignoring the looks they were getting from the other patrons. Once they separated and retook their seats, sipping on their drinks (tea for Amara that they had ordered for her and coffee for Marcel and a cappuccino for Vincent) and nibbling on a carrot cake as they caught each other up on what had been going on since they last spoke.
"I'm so happy for her." Marcel beamed. "Bekah has always wanted to be a mother."
"She's taken to it like a duck to water." Amara agreed with a wide smile feeling incredibly proud of her soon-to-be sister. "Plus, Teddy loves having cousins to play with; however, when Teddy asked Nik for siblings Kol has decided it was his job to pose that question every chance he gets." She rolled her eyes fondly with a small head shake as Marcel and Vincent roared with laughter. They could only picture Nik's face.
"Sounds like Kol." Marcel chuckled. "Who wants another?" He asked, making to get up but Amara stopped him which is when everything started to go wrong.
"I'll get it." Amara insisted, getting to her feet when she was suddenly hit by a fierce dizzy spell. The coffee shop spinning and blurting quickly around her as the sound sounded like it was coming from down a long tunnel.
"Mara?" Vincent questioned concerted. "Are you alright?"
Amara couldn't answer. She tried to catch herself on the table as her vision darkened suddenly causing her to collapse.
"MARA!!" Marcel shouted, rounding the table quickly (using just a smidge of his vampire speed) to catch her before she hit the floor. Looking up at Vincent, Marcel didn't have to say anything before Vincent was working his magic scanning his little sister to find out what exactly was wrong with her. He paled drastically, casting suspicious glances around them.
"What is it?" Marcel demanded, cradling his sister in his arms. If someone had attacked her without their noticing he hated and dreaded explaining that to Klaus and the others; especially Klaus. "What's wrong with her, Vincent?"
"She's pregnant Marcel." Vincent whispered so quietly that Marcel barely heard, as he glanced hurriedly around them again, causing Marcel to follow his actions. "We need to get her home. We can't afford Agnis finding out! Who knows what she or those renegade witches loyal to her would do!"
Taking heed to Vincent's warnings the two men rushed from the coffee shop heading towards WolfStar Manor as fast as they could've hoping no one had overhead them which they didn't think they had as Amara was still part of from the sad and had put up many Secrecy wards; but you couldn't be too careful. Now they just had to let the family know. Least they knew now why she had been so ill the last few weeks. Vincent made a mental note to make her a herbal tonic to help her with the morning sickness, there was no way he was going to let her make it herself and he didn't trust the ones in the shops.
