Chapter 102

M: Rowen snickered a bit, then patted Saxon's shoulder, "I never realized that you have been raising so many children, Saxon, I truly commend you for your patience and self-control, we really don't give you enough credit for that.  But on that note, why not let them be free for their last day, most all of their respective countries are gone by now and I'm sure that they have enough self-respect to not cause trouble," he said that last part out loud, "Otherwise they would be acting worse than my sons, the adult children who still drop snakes and spiders on people, now that would just be humiliating, wouldn't it?"

N: The Russian insurgent raised a brow, "Do you really think that you can compare my work to the likes of your man-children? Listen here, Долбоеб (motherfucker)-"

He was about to approach him when the Egyptian insurgent grabbed him before he could get up. "Sometimes, صاحبي (my friend), you do have a thick head," he shook his head before getting up, "and I think you should start with washing your face before running that mouth of yours."

"Maybe you should," Saxon chuckled, "you know what, you all can have the day off, but no funny business."

The Russian grunted before shrugging the Egyptian's hand off, so each of the insurgents left one by one until it was just the entity and Rowen left.

"They are professional troublemakers," the entity sighed, "and it's nice that you would want them to relax, but now I can't."

M: Rowen laughed at that, he knew all too well the tension one feels when their dependents are allowed to run amock, all he could really do was pat the entity's shoulder as a "good luck".

"Well if you decide that you do want to relax, I hear that Esha is going through one of her fluffy stages, where the fur on her dragon is extra soft, could be worth checking out if she'll let you, it feels like she's one large cloud," he suggested, then walked away to see what his sons were up to.

N: "You know what, maybe I'll do just that," Saxon nodded and went on to search for the Eternal.

M: Esha was resting in the dining room, and as predicted, she looked like a ginormous pomeranian that had balloons rubbed all over its body, yet she didn't seem to be too bothered by it, even while she was being petted and lay down on by a few servants and the Saxon friends.

"Hey there, Saxon, come to join the party," she sighed when she saw him come in, "be careful, we already lost two people in here somewhere, they have yet to surface for air."

N: "Who cares, I want to join in," Saxon replied as he basically collapsed into the cloud of fur, slowly sinking in, although he did make sure that he could actually access the air to breathe, "finally, peace."

"You're the only one who could probably say that, Grandfather," Ireland spoke, popping his head out of the fur as he too was buried in it, "since you're the one who is usually causing the trouble."

"Perks of being the Head of Insurgents I see," the entity smiled, "but right now I want to say here. Forever."

"But what about your responsibilities of being said Head," Heinrich now asked, also resurfacing from Esha's fur.

"WhAt rESpOnsIbiLItEs?"

M: "Damn straight, who needs responsibilities when you have fluffy Esha," Neflen called out from the fluff.

"And there's missing person number two," Esha chuckled, "I was getting worried you two had drowned.  BE is going to pitch a fit when he sees me, this is only my mid-winter blowout, the spring one will be much worse."

"Or better, for us," Neflen stated, finally clawing his way to fresh air, "but you are right, BE is going to be pissed when you start shedding, especially since your fur has that water-repellent oil in it."

"Well, he should expect that with furry eternals, Uskaine and Sofia are doing to have their own blowout days too, the castle will never be fur-free again."

N: "The cleaning staff are going to have absolute fun with you around," Ireland joked before sinking back into the fur, "wake me up if I'm needed."

"That's if I'm awake," Saxon mumbled.

"I would stay around but I got to see where Sofia is," Heinrich spoke as he got out of the fur, only to see that he was still covered from head to toe in it, "how the hell do I get this off me?"

M: "Either high-pressure air or a sticky roller, both of which I don't think this era has quite yet," Esha shrugged, "maybe you could get Edel to give you a bath but I wouldn't want him ingesting all that fur."

"Why don't you give him a bath, Esha," Neflen jokingly asked.

"Because I once tried to scare Wolfie by pretending to eat him and learned that he has an incredibly rancid taste, like Hodag meat drenched in spoiled milk and left to rot for three weeks," the draconic eternal grumbled, "that is the last time my mouth goes anywhere near a Saxon, and that includes the red bump on my shoulder right here."

N: "That's ... one way to describe how a Saxon tastes," Heinrich spoke, in shock by what Esha said, "but damn, if so, Saxon you better avoid Esha's mouth at all costs."

"I don't plan to," the entity replied, "and either way, how dare you compare me to them, Esha? I'm nothing like them."

"If anything, you probably taste worse since you've been to, what I can only assume, some dodgy places for prolonged periods of time," the Saxon reasoned, to which the entity sighed. "I'll just go and find Sofia," he said, making his way to the door, "and probably get changed too."

"She's with Chrysalis," the entity called out, "since it's his last day here. Good luck trying to separate her from him."

M: "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm going to miss that miserable bastard," Neflen chuckled, "he is so much fun to pick on, and he has really great stories."

"You remember that poker game where he totally destroyed Scotty, we had to hold him back from ripping him to shreds, which reminds me-," Esha mentioned, then poked her head into a section of her fur, "time wake up Scotty, it's been way longer than ten minutes, you said that you were supposed to help Albion with something."

"Wait, how long has he been in there," Neflen asked.

"An hour and a half, apparently Edel's whelps had infiltrated his and England's room again and he was trying to catch up on his beauty sleep."

N: "Aye, so leave me alone," Scotland muttered, trying to go back to sleep.

"Scotty, weren't you supposed to help Albion with his work so he could spend time with France," Saxon asked.

"It's been a while; he probably forgot."

The entity shook his head as he begrudgingly got out of the fur and went over to where the Scot was. Grabbing onto his arm, he pulled the other onto his feet and gently slapped his face to wake him up.

When Scotland finally opened his eyes, Saxon smiled, "good, you're awake," before collapsing into the Scot's now former spot.

Scotty only grumbled as he looked down on himself, "Esha, is your fur really going to get everything?"

M: "Yeah, again, I'm blowing out half of my winter coat," she reminded, "all animals with fur go through a fluffy phase when they shed, since I'm a water dragon we have two shedding times, one to blow out the thinner stuff, and the second one to get me back to my swimming coat.  I can't shed when I'm in my normal form so I need to be a dragon for as long as I can to shed."

"And this is why we had grooming shops rather than barbers, it was very rare for an eternal to have hair, just fur, skin, and scales," Nefled said, "and trust me, you do not want to see Askad in his shedding season, it's not pretty."

N: "I don't think I would want to get anywhere near him in his shedding season," Saxon called out from the fur, getting a chuckle from the rest of them.

Scotland sighed as he tried to get the fur off him, "so I guess I got to bathe now."

"Ask Esha if she could bathe you, although she might not like how you taste," the entity suggested, to which the Scot just looked at the Eternal in confusion.

M: "Long story short, don't pretend to eat Wolfie, don't ask what happened, I'm not telling it again," Esha grumbled, "now if you all don't mind, I too wish to get some shut-eye, so zip it before I zip you."

With that said the dragon yawned and rested her head, almost immediately going to sleep, which made people wonder if she slept at all last night, but they didn't bother her and resumed their relaxing.

N: The rest of the day went smoothly, and as soon as the sun set, everyone began to go to sleep; however, there were some who were preparing themselves for the day ahead. Whether it was bidding adieu to friends and family, or leaving the castle, they were on edge.

As soon as the sun rose the next day, the insurgents gathered together, knowing the order that Saxon gave them, so they made their final farewells. Having all suffered under the hand of Prussia, the six of them have definitely bonded over the last couple of days.

Waving goodbye to the Russian, Egyptian, and Spanish insurgents, Chrysalis and Wald decided to wait back, so the Commonwealth insurgent waited for them as they headed to the guest wing.

The Scot was able to pry Sofia off him, the moment she was fast asleep, she carried her back to her parents so that he could pack. Initially, he wanted to leave without saying a word, but after a while, he felt bad, so there he was, knocking on her room and waiting to see if anyone was awake.

M: Uskaine came up to the door, since Askad was officially hibernating now he was the only one to watch their kids.  He took one look at Chrysalis and smiled, "I'm glad you came to say goodbye, Sofia wanted to give you one more gift to remember her by."

He went back into the room to grab his child, and when he came back with her she had a plushy in her hands, but it wasn't her hippogriff toy.  The little girl held a griffin plush that looked almost identical to her, it even had the missing leg and half a tail.

"Prudy and Uncle Odrus helped me make it," she murmured, still tired, "they said we can't see you again, so I give it to you to remember me, you will remember me, right?"

N: Chrysalis took the plushie and turned it in his hands, smiling at the mini Sofia before looking at the young Eternal. "Of course I will remember you, Sofia," he reassured her, "I never forget a face. I actually have something to give you too."

Shouldering off his bag, he carefully placed the plushie inside before taking out his blue and tartan bonnet, minus the white Jacobite rose, and handed it to her.

"Hopefully, you can remember me with that hat," he said, putting the bag back on, "it was one of the first ones I've had, given to me from my sister, and I thought you should have it."

M: Sofia carefully held the hat, worried about dropping such a precious item, she would have tried it on but knew it was probably too big for her.  She leaned forward and hugged the insurgent, Uskaine having to shift her into his arms for the moment, and she softly cried.

"I'll keep it safe for you," she sniffled, "I'll never forget you, Uncle Chryssi, I love you, and I'll miss you so much."

N: Chrysalis glanced at Wald and saw the German's worried look, but he ignored it as he patted Sofia's back, "I'll miss you too, Sofia, and I know you'll take good care of my bonnet."

After asking Uskaine permission to, he stepped inside their room and carefully placed her back into bed, covering her up with a blanket.

"You take care of yourself, ok," he spoke, "and rest now. Maybe, just maybe, we will see each other in the future, but right now, go back to sleep."

M: Sofia yawned and nodded, still holding Chrysalis's hand as she slowly drifted off to sleep.

Uskaine smiled at this and patted the Scot's shoulder, "I may be overstepping my boundaries a little, but I think you would make a great parent one day, if you ever decide to have a family.  I'll do whatever I can to make sure you two can visit each other."

He then addressed both of them, "I wish you both safe travels, may Lady Ora guide you on your journeys and protect you from harm."

N: "I'll be surprised if she even likes me after what I did," Chrysalis muttered before saying his final farewells and leaving the room.

As they made their way back to the main entrance, Wald asked, "you know that you really shouldn't have done that back there, right? Making bonds like that in our line of work only leads to sadness."

"I know, I know," the Scot sighed, "but I guess I wanted her to have some sort of closure. I'll stay as far away as possible, for our own sakes."

"Gut (good)," the German nodded, "and a family-"

"Not possible."

The German just nodded, knowing that they both knew the responsibilities of being an insurgent, and that they would rather be the only ones affected by it. When they arrived at the door, the Commonwealth insurgent complained about them taking their time. Before they went their own ways, Wald decided to give his new friend a hug, which the Scot gladly accepted.

"Try not to get killed," the German chuckled.

"You too," Chrysalis smiled, waving at them as they mounted horses and rode off towards the docks.

The Scot took a different route, mounting his own horse and riding away from Windsor Castle, further into the countryside until his figure disappeared.

M: As the moon's rays gave way to the morning sunlight, four other people began to pack their things, given that their chauffeur didn't know what sleep was and wanted to leave as soon as humanly possible. Deutsche and A-H didn't mind leaving so early, they had plans and deals that needed to be discussed with OE when they went back to Greece.  Mandara and Derogan, however, felt that they didn't get to spend enough time with their family, they knew they were coming back to stay, but they didn't know the next time RoV would be able to transport them again, or even if he would.

"Cheer up you guys, it's all going to be ok," Prudoria said, he and the rest of the Mandorians were there to have one last chat, "we'll still be here when you come back, it's not like we're going anywhere."

"We know, it just feels like time went by too fast," Derogan stated, "we haven't been together in years, it's just not right that we have to go so soon."

N: "But the important thing is that you'll come back," Johann spoke and he smiled, "and you'll be here to stay until we can get our home back."

M: "And we'll make sure it's sooner rather than later," Deutsche said from the doorway, "the boat's almost ready, RoV is giving us ten more minutes to say goodbye."

"Thanks, Deutsche, we'll be there soon," Mandara said, "don't forget to tell HRE goodbye, I think he's leaving today too, maybe."

The German nodded and waved to the Mandorians, leaving soon after.  The brothers then began to say their goodbyes, giving everyone hugs and receiving kisses from their parents.  They all then went to the courtyard to say goodbye to everyone else.

N: Just as Mandara predicted, HRE was preparing himself to leave, but he felt bad for leaving Odrus behind. After discussing details with RoV about traveling on his ship and stopping over at the Kingdom of Italy, he walked over to Odrus and pulled him aside.

"I'll have to go back home," he spoke to the Eternal, "with the rising tensions in Europe and a war with Prussia, I got to keep my empire out of the war, and that means I have to be present in my people's lives."

His wings hung a bit as he continued, "I would ask you if you would come with me, but I don't want you to be dragged into this and to be separated from your friends. I promise, once the war on my son is over, I'll come back to you."

M: Odrus, although disheartened that his lover had to go, understood the reasons and why he couldn't come with him.

"As much as I would love to come with you, I understand that I'm not ready to leave the island yet, it hasn't even been a year since we've come out of hiding," he agreed, hugging HRE close, "I am a patient man though, I will gladly wait as long as I need to for you to return, and considering the other night you may or may not be coming back to a surprise, I guess we'll have to wait and see."

While the two lovebirds were saying their goodbyes, the Mandorian and British families were finishing up theirs with Mandara and Derogan.

"I wish you guys could come with us," Mandara said, "Greece is surprisingly warm this time of year, and it's very peaceful compared to here, no offense BE."

N: "Apart from the obvious tensions between our two kingdoms, I still wouldn't go," BE shrugged, "it may be nice but I need some chaos in my life. Otherwise, it's boring."

"I think you're the only one who thinks that," Anglo chuckled, "I, on the other hand, would love the warm weather of Greece."

"Says the person who was practically dying in the Italian heat," Saxon rolled his eyes, "you wouldn't last long in Greece."

Johann chuckled at the interaction before turning to his brothers, "just be quick."

M: "We won't be long at all, apparently RoV became good buddies with Askad so wants to use us as an excuse to come back," Derogan stated, "and this time we'll bring you all something nice."

Mandara chuckled at this, the two then gave their brothers one last group hug, even giving them a feather from each so they would still be together.  Deutsche and A-H were waiting for them by the carriages, and when they finally left their family and got in, the former turned to Wilfried, "are you sure you don't want to come with, you might help speed things up since OG doesn't like you in his country."

N: "Maybe, but I haven't been in the British Isles for a year, so it's high time I stay and do some work from home," Wilfred replied, "but I do appreciate the offer. Do send letters my way when the plan is underway and we'll support you in your goals."

Glancing at the occupants of their carriage, he smiled, "take care. All of you."

M: "We will, and we'll look forward to fighting alongside you," Deutsche said, dipping his head in farewell.

He helped A-H into the carriage and got on himself, waving to the driver that they were ready to go.  The reins flicked and the horses marched forward, pulling the vehicles away as the occupants waved out the window to their families.  Even though they would be separated once again, Mandara and Derogan were not afraid this time, because they knew that they would be back together once again, and this time nothing would permanently separate their family.

The End
