The air seemed cooler. Shuichi wasn't able to put his finger on it, but he knew something was going to go wrong. Thoughts started coming to his mind and it was beginning to create a fog around his reasoning.
My head moved to hide in my arms. Wrapping around my head as if they were protecting my thoughts and my feelings. The ones I thought that people should never be able to see regardless of anything. Well...other than Kokichi, but even with him some things I feel should be kept inside. Even though I knew deep down Kokichi would figure it out sooner or later.
I perked up at the thought. Kokichi...god I had almost forgotten I am so lucky to be marrying him so soon. It makes me so nervous that this is all happening so quickly. It makes it hard to do most things because of how flustered I get by just thinking about it.
He is my everything.
I felt my thoughts stray again as my face started to get hot. He is so dazzling and funny and-
"Shuichi? Is the case something more--interesting or are you daydreaming about your lover again~?" Scarlette asked, moving over to put a hand on my shoulder. I blushed more and turned my head away.
"So the second option then?" She smirked, making my embarrassment increase ten fold.
"Y...yeah." I whispered, moving my hand to cover my mouth. This was normal for us to do as Kokichi is always something I tend to think about especially if it's a slow day.
"Well let's focus on the case instead of your beloved fiancé okay?" She asked, poking my cheek, making me sigh. "Alright, I understand," I said, moving to the file that was on my desk to study it once more.
The crimes that this "Monokuma Killer" has been doing to spread despair have become more frequent as well as more gruesome. There have been countless victims to these murders and these situations that it was making Shuichi feel even more stressed about if he and Kokichi were even safe.
"There are 14 new murders that have happened under the name of this "Monokuma Killer" group because as you must have noticed this can not be done by one person...and with the new evidence we have received it's hard to say how many people are involved." Scarlette said moving to sit next to me. She was right. There could be tens to hundreds of people involved...but I don't think that's the only part of this that we need to pay attention to. Are some of the people involved victims themselves that are getting manipulated into doing these things?
"Wait but Scarlette, do you remember that mask that one of the culprits was wearing? How they seemed completely unaware of what happened when they were murdering them." Her eyes seemed to widen. "You're right." She said gasping a bit.
"What means this could be-"
Concerned by the pause, Shuichi looked up from the file. And as suspected that feeling he has was correct. Something bad way going to happen...and it happened to be the power going out.
Goddamnit. Why does this have to happen now? It's later in the day so it's dark and it's hard to see anything. "Scarlette? Are you alright?" I asked, looking into the distance trying my best to make her out. She was in the corner of the room searching for something.
"Yes, sorry I'm trying to find the lantern." She said gently before I moved to get out of my desk to try to see if any of the emergency lights had gone on.
To my surprise it was pitch black.
Completely dark.
This is why I moved to the window to open the blinds so the moon would be able to give us some light. I felt a sigh of relief leave my lips when I saw that the moon and stars were out. They are always able to calm me down, but at this moment Scarlette moved over and put her hand over my mouth.
I felt panicked by this action, but I trusted my partner. She slowly moved herself with me in front of her into the corner of the room before she whispered in my room. "Monokuma Killers...this is not a normal blackout." Those were the only words I needed to hear to understand the situation.
I gave her a nod and she moved her hand away from my mouth. We both moved over to the supply closet as the window that I opened was smashed open.
Glass scattered all over the floor and I could tell I was about to let out a sound of panic, so I moved my hand over my mouth to calm myself down. I heard footsteps enter the room and crunch some of the glass with what sounded like boots.
"WHERE IS AGENT SAIHARA AND HIS PARTNER?!" One of them screamed. I looked over at Scarlette and she gave me a motion that told me don't move.
"IF THEY ARE NOT GIVEN TO US NOW WE WILL BLOW UP THIS ENTIRE STATION!" I felt my breath hitch...am I going to die? What about Kokichi? What about my uncle?!
"AND WE WILL GIVE YOU-" before they could finish...a gunshot sounded...before a body collapsed.
I kept still in the closet with Scarlette behind me holding me in the closet, we had no idea if the person who broke through the window got shot or if one of our own got shot. But we had to stay there until we knew it was safe to come out.
.
.
.
Hours passed and there was no sound other than sirens gathering around. The person who threatened us never spoke again...and I could tell that not long before the sirens came they were already dead.
"Shuichi, this is your commanding officer, you and Scarlette are clear to come out now." I hesitantly listened to the voice and Scarlette didn't even move. I knew this voice could have been an imposter so I moved my hand slowly and found my gun. This was so if anything happened I could defend myself.
Scarlette did the same and grabbed the knife she keeps in the side of her boots. "On the count of three." She whispered.
"One"
"Two"
"Three"
