Last train to Clarksville
Everything looked so strange and old fashioned, that I kind of felt out of place. I looked all around me and saw lots of tall buildings and people walking by. I got up and grabbed my Monkees record, hid it in my jacket, and began walking.
It was so fascinating how everything was functioning in this place. People all had places to be and they all got there. Then a girl holding a box was running by and accidentally bumped into me and dropped her box. "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry," she said. "Oh no no, you're good," I said.
I bent down to pick up her box and handed to her. "Thank you," she said. "I'm about to be late for work." "What do you do?" I asked her. "I'm a makeup artist for stars!" She said excitedly. "That sounds awesome!" I said back. "Would you like to tag along?" She asked me. "Sure," I answered.
I followed her to a studio and we went inside to find so many people walking around with clipboards and wearing headsets. But then I found 4 chairs and 4 people sitting on them. The people that I never thought that I would ever see in my life. It was them. The Monkees! And Davy Jones was alive!
They look so young though. "Excuse me, but what year it is?" I asked the girl. "It's 1966," she said a little confused like, but not in a suspicious way. I couldn't believe my ears and didn't think that she was right. But then my watch said a completely different time and I had no choice but to believe her.
The director walked into the room and started calling everyone to work. "Ok everyone, today we are going to start on our next episode titled, "Dance, Monkee, Dance" everyone got that?" He said. "Yes sir," they all said to him. "Lisa! The Monkees need to shine!" He said to the girl. "Got it James," she said and rushed over to the Monkees.
That's funny because my Nana's name is Lisa and she said she did the Monkee's makeup also. At that moment, my mind literally exploded. That's my Nana! She looks like she's about 20, around my age.
I wanted to walk over there but I knew I couldn't tell her anything because that would probably not end well. I still want to go over there and maybe say hi to the Monkees. But they probably want to get away from fans and do what the fans love to see. The director then walked up to me and looked down. "Who are you?" He asked me. "I'm Valerie and I'm uh, supposed to be helping Lisa with the makeup," I told him.
"Then why aren't you over there helping her?" He questioned. "I do not know, but I'll go now," I said and began my journey over to them. I tapped Lisa on the shoulder and she turned around to look at me. "Do you need any help?" I asked her. "Oh yes please, Davy isn't cooperating so much with his makeup," she said while handing me a big makeup brush.
I've never applied makeup to a man before, so this should be quite an experience. I went over to Davy and he looked so handsome in person. "Are you the lady who's doing my makeup?" He asked me with his cute accent. "Yes I am," I said. "Well since you're beautiful, I'll let you do it," he said and closed his eyes.
I applied the makeup to his face to bring it out and he looked fine after. "Why thank you, what's your name love?" He asked me. "Valerie," I answered him. "That's a beautiful name, I'm Davy," he said and kissed my hand. I blushed and Lisa smiled while rolling her eyes at my reaction. I helped her apply the rest of the makeup on the others and they left to go to their set.
I watched their show being directed and it went really well. This was one of my favorite episodes that I saw, so that's what made it even better. Lisa and I actually make a really good team and I'm excited to see what'll happen next.
