IN THE SLEEPY AND SECLUDED small town of Barrow, Alaska ⎯⎯ the northernmost settlement in North America ⎯⎯ its citizens are preparing for the annual coming of the Dark, when the sun will set for more than thirty consecutive days and nights.

With a population of five hundred and sixty-three, there are only ever one hundred and fifty-two remaining as the Dark days approach. Everyone boards up their homes for the month, before heading to the only airport in miles to catch the last flight that Barrow will see for the next thirty days. They just couldn't handle that much darkness.

And, perhaps, they could be considered the lucky ones, for this year, the Dark will bring something else.

From across the frozen wasteland, a horrifying evil that which thirsts for blood descends upon Barrow, mercilessly besieging its residents with unrelenting terror and swift death. And as the darkness continues and the thirty days of night seemingly have no end in sight, Barrow's only remaining hope lies with Sheriff Eben Oleson, Doctor Freya Oleson, and Deputy Stella Keaton, a husband and wife and their best friend who are torn between saving the town they love and the people who live it in and their own survival.

author's note: as some of you might already know, i have a huge obsession with horror movies, books and even comic books, so i decided to finally write a horror fanfic set in the universe of one of my absolute favourite movies ever, 30 days of night. most of this will be based on the books and comics since they have way more content than the movie, but i'll still be including scenes from the movie from time to time since it follows the book pretty closely. and just like the book and movie, i'll be going back and forth, so you'll be reading from the stranger, marlow, and the residents of barrow's povs throughout the story. i also didn't erase stella from the plot, she'll still be crucial to the story, just not as eben's wife and rather his and freya's best friend
