AUTHOR'S NOTE:

This is for Tanvi_VaruNyiesha who celebrates her birthday today. I wanted to update on February 14th only, but this is for you.

********

Ganesh took his son in his arms and saw him. He was a bundle of flesh wrapped in a soft delicate skin. He was still thinking about a name for his son which the nurse asked. He lifted him up and said, "I found a suitable name for him. His name is Varun. He will be famous among the girls just like the actor Varun."

The nurse was shocked. 'Is he crazy? ' she thought. But Priyadharshini saw her husband Ganesh with admiration. She said, "It's the perfect name. We have got the future world's handsome guy as our son." She extended her hands and Ganesh placed Varun in her arms.

She saw him. She was in the white gown given in the hospital. She saw her son. Varun was looking like, all the happiness in the heaven were wrapped in a flesh and blessed as a boy.

Every child used to cry when they were born into the world, but Varun didn't cry. He was smiling. An infectious smile which he was going to spread in the world. Varun's smile was so cute.

A child's smile is cute but Varun's smile was something more than cute even for a child. Even the nurses had sensed it. Ganesh and Priyadharshini knew that they have got a handsome boy.

**********Varun at 4 years old*************

Varun was in his father's car. They were going to the 'Musical geniuses.' It was a private school to teach singing and how to play musical instruments. They reached the building and Ganesh came and opened the door. He took his son with him. There were so many instruments painted in the outer walls of the building. Varun's eyes landed on the piano and he instantly felt something for it.

Ganesh took Varun's hand in his hand and started to walk slowly, so that Varun could walk with him. Varun was watching the instruments with excitement. Ganesh was talking to the receptionist and Varun was staring at the walls. They went inside after a while.

A table and few chairs were in the room. The walls of the room were filled with the pictures of musicians. There were many musical instruments in the room. Ganesh sat on the chair and the instructor sat on the opposite side. Ganesh wanted Varun to sing and play an instrument.

Varun was looking at all the instruments but that one instrument made him super excited. It was a piano. He tried to reach and press the keys in the piano but he couldn't reach it as it was an adult one. He tried to jump and reach it.

After trying for some more time, Varun called his dad and extended his hand. He said in his baby voice, "Picg meee ap Dad." Ganesh chuckled and came to him. Ganesh placed his hand on Varun's waist and lifted him up. Varun pressed the keys and even for a kid it was a pleasant music which impressed the instructor.

The instructor said to Ganesh, "You wanted him to learn Guitar but he has natural talent for piano. He is extremely talented." Ganesh was impressed too. He kissed Varun's cheek.

Ganesh hugged his son and Varun hugged his dad back. Varun kissed his Dad back. Ganesh said to Varun, "You don't have to play this. You can play the guitar." Varun didn't know what's a piano and guitar at that age but he surely liked the instrument which he played.

The instructor didn't understand why Ganesh didn't want his son to play piano. Ganesh understood his question and said, "Girls like guys who play guitar. That's why I asked you to teach him to play guitar."

Ganesh turned to see Varun ignoring the shocked instructor. He said to Varun, "You are going to learn to play this." He pointed at the guitar and Varun lost his smile the moment he realized that he is not going to play his favourite instrument.

**********When Varun was 6 years old**********

"And thus, they lived happily ever after." Ganesh said while closing the book and Varun yawned at the same time. Ganesh had finished reading a love story.

It was a common practice for Varun to hear those short stories on love. Ganesh said while ruffling Varun's hair, "What is the moral you learnt from this love story?" Varun always have to say the moral of the love story, which is always the reason for their temporary break up.

Varun said, "You should never hurt your girl. You should always spend time with her. You should stay close to her and you should not stay close to any other girl."

Ganesh kissed his son on the cheek. Varun said, "Dad, can you read a book called Harry potter for me tomorrow? My friends say it is very interesting." Ganesh replied to his son, "That book won't be useful to you in future but these love stories might be useful."

Varun was upset and it reflected in the words. He said, "I just don't understand what's the use in reading this, Dad?" he said that and pulled the covers over his face and slept with disappointment.

********When Varun was 8 years old*******

Varun was in the backseat of his Dad's car and his Dad was driving. His mother asked from the front seat of the car, "I heard that you slept while your Dad was reading you "Her Dreams" written by Yagappar."

Varun was really irritated now. The story itself is bad. The story is about a childish girl and a boy, who loved her without confessing it to her. They marry without the girl knowing about his love. She doesn't realize his love. After some time, she realizes her love for him but she does something bad and he gets angry. His car gets into an accident and girl cries for him.

By the time the girl comes to the hospital, I slept. What do you expect when I read a story like this? Varun couldn't help but feel irritated with stories like those. I really want to meet the idiot who wrote it.

Varun saw an Ice cream parlour and he excitedly said to his mother, "Mom, I need ice cream." Priyadharshini saw the ice cream and said to him, "Tell me the moral of the story which your Dad told you yesterday. If you are correct then I will buy you one."

Varun saw that he was losing sight of parlour so he immediately said, "The boy didn't say his love and the moral in that is that we should never hesitate to say about our love. The girl was not careful so he walked out and travelled in tricky situation so the moral here is no matter however angry you are, you shouldn't allow the people you love to walk out."

Ganesh was so stunned that he stopped his car. He turned and asked him how he knew because he had slept before Ganesh even finished the story. Varun said, "Then after she goes to the hospital and there, she learns everything. She confesses her love to him after he wakes up. They live happily ever after. This is the same love story I have been hearing for years, no one changes the story. They just change the names and city."

He crossed his arms, which definitely showed his anger. When his mother saw him, he immediately turned away from her.

Priyadharshini was the first to pull out of the shock and said, "Varun, you can't eat ice cream. It will spoil your voice and you wouldn't be able to sing well. So, no ice cream." Your voice won't have the same effect on girls.

Ganesh decided that his son has heard enough of the normal love stories. "You have now understood only one way to fall in love. So, you have to think about the same old story and find what to do and what not to do."

Even he doesn't know what he is trying to say. He was clearly shocked but he knew that Varun has to go to the next stage in learning about love.

Ganesh also decided that his son has to go to next level in love stories.

************When Varun was 14***********

"Dad, I have some sight issues. I can't see things which are at a distance." Varun said while walking down the steps to the living room.

Ganesh kept his newspaper on the table. He was disappointed. Glasses don't look good on boys. His appearance will be spoiled.

Ganesh found a way to prevent him from not losing his look. He said, "Why don't you wear contact lenses?"

Varun never liked the idea of contact lenses. They are a nuisance. They have to be remembered as a fact. You can't even rub your eyes while wearing them. Varun used to rub his eyes often.

Priyadharshini came to the living room and sat beside Ganesh. She enquired about the discussion and learnt about his plans. She face palmed and said, "This is a very old thinking. Girls nowadays like boys with glasses, so don't stop him from wearing them."

Varun was disappointed and he sat on the couch and started reading newspaper. Can't I do anything for myself? Why does girls or love have to come in every choice I make.

Priyadharshini came and ruffled his hair. She said to Varun, "You are going to high school. You have all the necessary things needed in your life. We are not the richest people in this city but I am the happiest person in this city. Do you know why?"

Varun shook his head and Priyadharshini said, "I am with your Dad. We were not toppers in studies like you. You have accomplished many things in your life which we never did. You are one of the most intelligent boys in the city but one thing worries us."

Varun knew what's going to come. His parents are always like this and he knew it too. He was ready to hear it and it came to him. His Dad continued, "You have not been successful in your love life. Actually, you never dated anyone. Love between me and your mom is what makes us happy. You could earn billions but you need someone to hug you when you come home. Even if you come to a deserted home with millions, it won't be worth it."

Varun was not running from girls or something like that, he just didn't meet his girl. He had checked out girls but none of them was worth to become his life partner. Some said he was searching for a perfect girl but actually he was searching for a girl who was going to make his life perfect.

Priyadharshini said, "I know that you are searching for her too but I don't know if those novels which your father read to you have kept your hopes high. You are not going to get even one girl like that. Novels always show perfect girls with everything perfect. Just let your search for love end in high school. Think practically Varun." Varun knew that he was not searching for a perfect novel girl, but still something was missing from all the girls in this city.

I want my search for love to end too.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

This is not a fan fiction. I am just using Varun's name. All characters are imaginary.

Did I leave too many mistakes?

How was the chapter?

I was still not convinced with this chapter. I wrote it three weeks back.

Any suggestions?

What do you think about Ganesh and Priyadharshini?

What do you think about the stories Varun said?

I am doing research here like reading many teen fiction books so that I don't repeat them. I am doing research on the way high school works. You can't understand my high school as it's different.

The subjects they teach, timings, classes they offer, do they have compulsory subjects and optional subjects? How many students sit in one classroom in an average? Do they have separate classes for games? What about clubs like literary clubs and all?

I have to finish my book "Her Dreams" and "What makes me a man" I even wrote Addar's name instead of Varun in this chapter ;)

Happy birthday. I believe no one else celebrates their birthday before February 14th.

If you celebrate then you will get a update only on my other books not this one.

If you have time, read my other books... I think you will find it at least okay if not loved it.

Take care be safe and stay blessed.

-yagappar, your Bro.
