❄️ Chapter 2: The Man In The Dress ❄️
The day after went the same way.
Another nightmare, another morning, another shower, another coffee, another shift.
This time though, he found himself walking to work a little faster than normal. He wasn't sure why, there was nothing important going on, at least that he knew of. He wasn't afraid, nor excited, but he wanted to get to work sooner if he could.
Once there, he stood behind the counter, placing his bag down, waiting for customers to start pouring in.
Customers bursted in and out of the store, some getting what they searched for, some leaving empty handed, yet Justin kept on glancing to the open doors over and over again.
Was he expecting someone? Who was that someone anyway? Even he didn't understand why he was looking forward to something unknown.
And then, he came in.
The man from yesterday, the one with the platinum blonde hair and light blue dress, only this time it was a white sleeveless dress with straps that tied around his neck, and his hair was let down this time.
Some of the customers stopped and looked, even some of the other employees stopped to look, but the man didn't seem to notice. He simply walked over to a specific dress, stared at it for a while, then walked over to the counter, placing the dress down.
Even as he waited to be attended, people's eyes were glued to him. Was it his beauty? He was very beautiful, like a god from the heavens. His aura was also something that attracted everyone's view, as if someone of royal blood walked in.
Once the dress was bought, the man gave a smile and left the store.
Barely anything happened, yet Justin's day seemed better than usual, happier, as if he had completed something important.
The same thing happened the day after; the same situation, the same feeling.
Then again the day after.
Then again the next.
Then again.
And again.
And that went on for the next two weeks. No words were ever shared besides the "Have a nice day," the man was as quiet as a sleeping child, never saying anything.
It was strange, yet it only intrigued Justin. For some reason, watching this scenario day in and day out was like snow; nothing ever happened, but it was something different from before, he was different.
He wanted to know more..
Today happened the same way, he got to work, waited for a bit, seeing the man walk inside. A smile grew on his face when he did, seeing him walk to the dress section as always.
Justin didn't understand what he felt; was he simply interested? Amused? No.. more like admired.
By the way he dressed, Justin could tell this man was a very flashy and outgoing person, and his actions only complimented that. He was someone who wasn't afraid to do what he wanted, without caring about what others would think, someone who wasn't affected by other people's negative feedback.
He was.. the complete opposite to Justin.
Of course, these were all just speculations that he had come up with, he had never interacted with the man outside of when he actually buys the outfits, he could be completely wrong about the way he's viewing this. But the thought of it did bring comfort to him, in a strange way.
"Um, excuse me, sir?" his ears perked up. It wasn't to him that someone was speaking, but to the man with the bright looks, a random customer by the looks of it.
The man was holding a dress in front of himself as he looked at himself in the mirror, and only turned when the person stood right beside him.
Did they know each other? By the look of his face, the person seemed like a complete stranger.
"Um, yeah, hi. I couldn't help but notice you trying on all of these dresses, and well, these aren't really meant to be used by.." the person gestured at the man with their hand, "your body type? I'm gonna ask you to stop, otherwise you'd stretch out the dresses for those who this is actually made for."
Justin couldn't see the man's face, but there were seconds that passed where just seemed frozen in fear, until he walked to the back of the room with the outfit he was holding.
The other customer seemed proud of their work, as if they had defended their favorite store and was about to get a reward.
Justin's ears were pressed against the back of his head; he felt bad, really bad, anyone was allowed to buy anything, were they not..?
He thought about telling the customer off, but the thought of the confrontation going south made his hands start to tremble, so he simply stayed behind the counter.
"Maybe I should apologize on their behalf later.."
There was no need though, because right after, the man walked back over to the customer, wearing the dress he had been holding before. It was a silver dress, completely covered in sequence, tube style without any sleeves. He had also added a white puffy jacket over it, as well as some pink rhinestone sunglasses.
Wow he was bright!
When the customer was about to argue, the man simply rose a hand as a signal to stop, walking right pass then and over to the counter. He lifted up his sunglasses, expression annoyed and irritated as he let out a sigh.
Justin stared at him in awe, to have the confidence to escalate the situation even more? He could never!
He hid the smile that had grown in his face, clearing his throat before speaking, "You can leave wearing that if you want, as long as you pay for it."
The man didn't respond, nor did he look over, he just had a small glare towards the other customer.
'Was he ignoring me..?' Justin thought, getting nervous, 'Have I done something to upset him before..?'
However, the man then turned to him, expression much calmer, and to Justin's surprise, raised his hands to speak, "Is it okay if I leave with this on once I buy it?"
Wait, is he..?
When Justin didn't reply, the man then felt a little awkward, reaching into his bag and pulling out his phone. However, though he was rusty on sign language, he replied, "Sorry! Yes, you can take it like this."
It made sense now, why he never spoke or didn't react to when others spoke to him if he was facing away; he wasn't getting ignored, yay!
The man smiled, "Wonderful! I'll be taking this then."
Justin nodded in reply, but there were words in his mind that stopped him from concentrating. His smile was sheepish, looking at the man once more, "Uh.. I think it's really cool how you stood up for yourself.. Not a lot of people have that courage.."
The man gave a shrug, "You'd be surprised how often it happens, for a number of reasons, I'm used to people trying to tell me what to do and not do."
"Well, it's admirable of you, I know I could never do that."
"When you're in my line of work, you get used to the negative side of people."
Justin tilted his head, "Really? What's your work?"
"Model, actually. That alone attracts a lot of nasty people, but well.." his expression was playful and sheepish as he spoke, "I'm a man wearing girl's clothing, so you can imagine how much people speak badly about me."
"Heh, I know what you mean.."
"You wear feminine clothes too?"
"Uh- n-no, it's just-" Justin stopped himself, smiling awkwardly as his head tilted down, "Never mind.." He glanced over at where each piece of clothing was, typing the numbers into the cash register, "$135."
The man then reached into his bag, his expression becoming more annoyed the more he searched through, a low growl emanating from his throat. Eventually, he turned to Justin, "I left my wallet at home which contained all my cards, do you take cash?"
'You have $135 in cash??' Justin thought, but simply nodded.
And just like that, the man pulled out two hundred dollar bills, offering them to Justin, who had to force himself not to react. Once he got the change, the cashier attempted to return the change, but the man simply pushed it back to him, smiling as he replied, "Keep the change."
"H-huh?" Justin physically stopped, his hands a little jittery as he spoke, "I can't accept this, it's too much!"
"Don't worry about it, I don't need it," he smiled sweetly, "Think of it as a gift for your kindness."
"Wow, I.." he glanced down at the money in his hands, slightly gripping it, "Th-thank you..!"
The man smiled at that, throwing a wink in his direction, "I'll see you around, Ocean Eyes," then walked out of the store.
Justin's heart skipped a beat, 'Ocean Eyes..?' he asked himself. His eyes were a dark a blue, but less of a navy and more of a turquoise.
He looked down at the money in his hands once again, staring at it for a while, then let out a heavy sigh.
"At least I'll eat well tonight.."
