CHAPTER TWO: STOLEN JOBS

DEAN was pissed, to say the least.

But he found that for Sam's sake, he was able to hold it off for a bit and complain when no one was paying him much mind.

It wasn't like it would change much, it just showed them that they needed to leave town and find a new case quickly.

"How long are you girls gonna be in town?" Bobby questioned watching as Elana set down her empty beer bottle, "actually, we were gonna head back to the motel and then head out, we had our sights on this case up in Michigan."

Bobby softly nodded his head before taking a sip of his beer, both Sam and Dean exchanged a look before Sam softly smiled and turned back to face the girls, "we're taking a case not too far from yours, maybe you could help us out."

The two girls watched as Dean cast his brother another side-eyed glare, "see, we can't, we have to get going before morning, by the time you guys leave we'll already be there." Avanna furrowed her brows before glancing at her sister, "but you said we were getting breakfast at the mote-"

Elana swatted her sister's arm as quietly as she could before offering Sam a smile, "well, Dean and I were planning on heading out tonight, we could keep up with you." beside her, Avanna widely smiled before nodding her head, "sounds great, we can leave tonight and get breakfast on the road tomorrow morning."

Both of the eldest siblings turned to glare at their younger counterparts the silence saying everything they wouldn't until they were out of earshot.

"We're gonna head back to our motel and start packing up, it was nice seeing you again Bobby."

Pulling her sister along with her, she sent a nod in the older man's direction before exiting the kitchen and making her way to the front door. Opening the door enough for her to step out onto the porch, she wanted nothing more than to hit her upside the head.

"You are quite possibly the worst hunting partner someone could have." she remarked stepping out onto the porch after the younger blonde, Avanna rolled her eyes glancing back into the house to see the boys bidding Bobby farewell and beginning to make their way to the front door as the girls had moments before.

Elana was half tempted to book it back to the motel and abandon the boys, she didn't need to get stuck dealing with Winchesters just so Avanna could stare at the tall lanky one the entire time, that wasn't what they were supposed to be doing.

They were supposed to be hunting.

Reaching into her pocket to remove her keys, the older of the two girls cast a look over her shoulder to check where the boys were as they approached Elana's Dodge, hopefully, just hopefully, it would be faster than whatever the hell the two boys were driving.

Maybe then she could lose them.

But it didn't matter, there were only two motels in the small town and she had no doubt that they'd choose the right one and manage to catch up with the girls, so for now, she could put up with the two and just wait till they reached Michigan.

Popping her door open, Elana slid into her seat waiting until her sister was buckled in to start the car, casting a look in her rearview mirror, she watched as the boys climbed inside a car closer to the side of the house. Clearly not bothered, she put the car in drive and quickly began to make her way down the dirt path that served as Bobby's driveway.

Behind her, the eldest of the two boys had whipped his car around and was already catching up to her, losing them was going to be a lot harder than she'd originally thought.

Meanwhile, her sister sat with a content smile upon her face as they drove, if she didn't know any better, she'd say Avanna was smitten over the fact that they finally had other people to work with, boys at that.

She'd hardly ever hunted with anyone besides her older sister, and her parents a few times while they were still around, but to have two completely new hunting partners, maybe she'd pick up a few things she didn't know, or maybe they would.

They drove down the dimly lit roads for a few minutes before turning off into the motel parking lot, the sight of two bright headlights shone through the rearview mirror slightly illuminating the inside of the Dodge.

Letting out a sigh, Elana pulled into the parking spot closest to their room and let the car sit idle for a few moments before she turned it off and climbed out. She'd been to Michigan twice and still, she wondered what the trees would look like around this time of year, would they be pretty? Or would they be in the middle of dropping leaves in preparation for the oncoming winter?

She shook her head, they had more important matters, like how they were going to wiggle their way out of helping the two boys trailing them.

Seemingly unbothered as the boys- technically just Sam- climbed out of their car, Elana removed the room key from her pocket and tossed it over the car to Avanna, she almost smiled at the sound of Dean protesting with his brother but instead followed after her sister across the small sidewalk up to the door leading into their room.

Banging his fist against the steering wheel within his car, it only took Dean a few moments to climb out of his car and rush after his brother cautious to leave him alone with the strangers. It didn't matter if they knew Bobby or not, he wasn't going to risk his brother's safety for a pair of girls that could pose a threat to either of them.

Avanna was the first one to enter the room quickly sliding off to the side to allow her sister entrance, she hadn't even noticed the boys approaching the door until her sister turned around with a glare crossing her features.

"I'm sorry, I don't remember inviting either of you in, especially not you Daniel."

She watched as Dean returned her glare, "it's Dean."

Turning to grab her bag from beside the bed she shrugged her shoulders, "I don't really care." pausing to look between the two brothers she gestured to the taller of the two, "don't just stand there Sanity, go help her out." Sam almost dared question the nickname but instead slipped past his brother to make his way over to Avanna as she grabbed a few things from the bathroom.

"So, what exactly are we hunting in Ohio?" Elana questioned as she breezed past Dean to her own car, he watched her from the doorway with a glare still residing among his lips, she glanced back at him before rolling her eyes.

"I have a feeling you're gonna be a real pain in my ass." this time Dean rolled his eyes, "you don't have to come with us, we don't need your help, not sure why Sam even invited you."

Elana smiled before making her way back to the motel room, "maybe.." she paused in front of him, "it's because he knows we can get the job done."

Dean bit back on his tongue watching as she slipped past him and grabbed the last of her things as Sam and Avanna began to make their way towards the motel door, she couldn't help but smile, it was entertaining to see the older of the two boys so frustrated, especially at her own hand.

It was amusing really.

Following her sister to the trunk, she settled the last of their items into it before leaving it to Avanna to close while she started the car. Sam was the first to appear in her line of vision the boy stopping at her open door before gesturing to the map he held in his hand, "when we head off in a few minutes we're gonna stay in front, I already gave Avanna my number so we can communicate back and forth." he paused before holding the large folded slab of paper out to her, "we're heading into Elizabethville for the case, there's been a few omens and two really unusual deaths, but we can talk more about it when we get there and find a room."

Softly nodding her head, she almost smiled up at the boy, "thanks, Samuel."

Sighing, Sam turned and made his way over to his brother's car as Avanna popped open the passenger's door and situated herself beside her sister.

They had an eighteen-hour drive ahead of them, probably longer if they stopped a few times, which they more than likely would have to.

She knew they'd be stopping for breakfast the next morning, but after that, she had no clue, maybe a meal in between from then and their arrival, but she'd just have to ride on the fact that it was less than a full day's drive.

Elana waited a few moments before starting the car, her eyes glued to the back of the Impala as she pulled out after them, hopefully, the boys were like them and hardly took any unnecessary stops, then they might be able to shave down on the time they had to spend in the car.

She wondered if Dean was worried they would end up solving the case in Ohio, if they would steal their job, again.

The first time had been understandable, they hadn't known someone else was looking into it and they'd been the first one's to take action, but this time, they knew the boys were working on it, and yet, it seemed that maybe they could still snatch it right from under their noses.

And would it really matter in the end? So long as the problem was solved and everyone was safe? She didn't think so.

It wasn't until twenty minutes into the drive that Avanna began to complain, mainly over the lack of noise in the car. Elana didn't quite understand why, the silence was comforting, and well, quiet.

Without giving her much time to dispute the matter, Avanna grabbed the box of tapes from behind her seat and began to shuffle through them before she let her head thump back against her seat with a loud groan leaving her lips. "Why is there nothing good?" she whined dropping a tape back into the box with the others.

She was sick of listening to the same stuff over and over again, AC/DC, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Kiss, hell, she was beginning to despise Guns and Roses.

And it wasn't like she could exactly argue over the music choices, she wasn't the driver and it certainly wasn't her car, plus, even if she did want to argue over it, it wasn't like she had tapes of her own that she could play.

"Just put something on and stop whining about it." Elana grumbled as she followed behind the boys out of the town. Somehow, they'd only managed to spend two days in, she wouldn't miss it the slightest, but she did wonder what would happen when the locals came across the farm of slaughtered individuals.

That would be an interesting read in the news.

But she doubted anyone would even come looking, not until the mortgage was overdue.

And by then, they'd be long gone, more than likely on the other side of the country and nowhere on the list of suspects the locals had conjured up.

It took a few moments before Elana recognized the familiar sound of a tape being popped into the slot, she would have to wait a few seconds to find out what the younger girl had decided on, and yet, she knew it would be exactly what she wanted to hear.

Back In Black.
