Episode 17: The Escape Fleet

Frame sat in silence as he continued to ride in the Transport he had escaped in along with his entire force of Soldier's. For the past day or so they had been on the trip to San Francisco, but the conversations never stopped it seemed.

This one was certainly new to the group as they had been telling each other their past live's and what they had done during their year's to this point, but Frame only listened to them as he stood on the edge of the truck holding on to one of the Roof's support beam's.

"Yeah, my Love is back in China right now, She's American blood as well." One of the Soldier's spoke as he had taken a cigarette and had lit it.

"Didn't think you had it in you to actually find a girl, Harvey." The Soldier next to him joked and hit his arm, but the other's had began laughing making the Soldier Harvey angry.

"Screw you guy's, but what about him.....we haven't asked him yet?" He pointed in one direction and everyone looked at who he was pointing at, but everyone went silent when they saw he was pointing at.....Frame.

"Are you insane!?" The Soldier next to him spoke rather quickly, but when he did speak his voice was shaken and stuttering a lot as well.

"Just wanted to kno-." The Soldier stopped and looked over his shoulder, though the other Soldier sitting next to him stared at him before he felt someone standing behind him. Behind the man was Frame who seemed to be looking down at them.

"You wished to know something?" Frame raised a eyebrow as he spoke, yet his stare was like a death stare that could kill you in a instant or at least what the men liked to say.

"I-I wanted to know...I-if you ever loved anyone?" The Soldier known as Harvey spoke shakenly almost like he thought his life would end here today as Frame stared at him without speaking a word.

"Once..." Frame spoke low, but enough so the Soldier could hear him before he retook his position on the side of the Car while hanging on to the Bar.

"Once? What do you mean, is there anyone else now?" The Soldier leaned forward with his arm holding him with his leg, but when Everyone else looked at Frame he never turned his head.

"Don't you have more stories and idiotic Games to play?" Frame spoke again and it immediately broke them all out of their trance.

For the Rest of the trip it was silent despite the men's idiotic talk and Game's they played to pass the time, but Frame continued to stand on the side watching the tree's and hill's go by. Though when the truck finally stopped he had jumped off to see the Convoy had stopped outside on top of a hill, but before them was San Francisco itself.

"By God." Frame spoke when he saw the number of Ship's and people in the Bay's. There had to be over hundred's to a at least a thousand of ship's in the Harbor, but as for the people the amount was greater.

Though Frame turned his attention to the ship outward from the Bay, what he saw was a Air Craft Carrier one of the Five in the Empire's current possession, but he could see why they needed it here out of all place's as to serve as support for the transport ship's.

"Sir, the Convoy is ready to move, but on you're order." A Lone Commander had walked up to Frame and spoke silently in his ear.

"Get it moving, we really don't have long." Frame spoke slowly and lowly as he stared at the City, but after he heard the commander leave he heard the sound of Truck's and Tank's moving behind him.

It didn't take long for he himself to be brought out of his trance before he got on top of one of the Tank's again, but as soon as he started climbing it the Tank had begun to move again.

Frame stared around when he saw that they had entered the city, but was curious either way. Everyone who lived here was packing up everything they had and were running to the bay for their lives, but that being said went for anyone else who didn't live here.

Frame looked over at the Military personal who were running through the street's and down the sidewalk's helping the people get to the Harbor, but also helping people get their stuff.

He only hoped Allie had made it here, that thought was now going through his mind the thought of her not being here was killing him.

Finally the convoy had stopped at the very Bay itself and Frame thought they wouldn't be able to move it any further than where they currently were. Everyone was being rushed into the nearby Transport ship's, but most people dropped their stuff and had to get it or leave it behind as they feared for their lives.

By the time the convoy stopped, the Men on Frame's tank had jumped off to go to their duties, but Frame on the other hand had jumped off and went skulking off to the left so he could see the now Close up Air Craft Carrier.

The Carrier was on constant alert from the look of it as it continued to launch Jet patrol's, Boat Patrol's, and Helicopter patrols. His thought's were ended when a soldier tapped his Soldier and spoke in his ear.

"Sir, General Hector would like to see you." Frame turned his slightly to look at the Soldier, but motioned his hand to send him off. Though he stood there for several more minute's before walking away to see Hector, but when he did he found himself in a old House that was empty no-one else was in the house.

At least until General Hector and someone surprising stepped in.

"Kaleb?" Frame looked at the Man who seemed to be just as surprised, but non the less glad that he was here in this hell of a mess.

"Frame, good to see you here." Frame nodded and looked at Hector who was leaning on the large table which had a map and plan's on it.

"If you two Ladies are done gossiping, we have work to do." Frame shrugged at Kaleb when he shook his head.

"What situation are we in currently?" Frame spoke as he looked at the Map before him, but was met by Hector's stare.

"More and More people are pouring into the city, but by tomorrow we will have no chance but to leave." Frame stared at the map still as Hector spoke though took it into consideration when he hinted, Tomorrow.

"We also have been having trouble holding Fort George, which has been the Enemies main point of attack, but we keep sending supplies up there and the Enemy continue to attack none the less." Hector pointed down at the map toward's the hilltop where the Fort was located, but from what he was going on about with the fort he seemed to be a new one that had been built.

"Let me guess you want me up there to try and defend it?" Frame questioned Hector's plan here and why he had been called upon, but it was clear on what this man was going about.

"Yes, that is exactly what I wanted." Frame sighed as he looked at the map and at the fort.

"Alright, I'll get it done, Kaleb you coming?" Frame looked at Kaleb, but was shot down when Hector had coughed getting both of their attention's.

"I'm sorry to say, but Mr. Kaleb must stay with me the King sent him here to help us with the Effort and I need him here." Frame looked at Hector and then at Kaleb before sighing heavily.

"Alright, I'll be off then." Frame spoke lowly as he walked back to the door and stepped out rather quickly, but when he did he quickly looked up to see several patrol's fly past him. Though he turned his attention to the large group of people running to one spot to look at the sea, but when he approached a spot where he could get a better view he didn't say a word at all as he stared at what it was.

"My god, is it this bad here?" Frame spoke lowly to himself as he stared at two Battleship's that were sitting near the Carrier, but their main gun's along with every other gun facing toward's the shore. Though their intention here was unclear beside's keeping order and keeping the Carrier, and the Transport ship's protected.

"Always watching the machine's that can kill aren't you....Dad?" Frame's eye's widened quickly as he turned around to see none other than Allie standing before him, but before he could react she hugged him leaving him speechless.

"What are you still doing here?" Frame kneeled down to reach her height as he stared at her, but she was speechless as she stared back at him.

"I got here an hour ago, but the idiot's held me and several other's back I just heard a few minute's ago you were here." Frame sighed after she stopped speaking, but slowly sat down on the ground while she did the same.

"How bad was it?" Allie asked almost like a whisper than any actual question, but Frame didn't even turn his head as he watched the ship's in the bay.

"Pretty bad....We lost good men on the way to this forsaken city, but they saved more lives' by giving theirs." Allie stared at the ship's as well thinking only about what he had just said and imagining it in her head.

"How was the ride here?" Frame spoke silently as he continued to stare at the ship's, though the sight of the Battleship's was still curious to him.

"Not too bad....we barley ran into many of these monster's, but sometimes we almost did." Frame sighed as he listened to her, but was concerned either way.

"Just glad you're safe is all." Frame smiled slightly as he turned his head to look at her, but when he did she saw her slightly smiling as well.

"Well, I need to go to Fort George....and you need to go to one of those ship's, right now." Frame smiled yet held in a laugh as he looked over at Allie, who looked like she was about to argue with him.

"Fine.....but please you better come back, you're the only family I have." She quickly hugged his arm before looking up at him, but when she did she saw he was looking at the sea.

"You're damn right about one thing....we're the only family we both got, beside's uncle M and Uncle B and the other's." Frame looked down at her before hugging her with one arm, but he sat there with her for several minute's longer before they both left. Though they had to split up one had to follow up the mountain to the fort, but the other had to go down from where they were to get to the Transport's.

When Frame had approached the fort he stared at it with curiosity. The Fort itself wasn't the biggest out of any Fort here, but it did protect and was in the way of the only path down to the city. The actual condition of said fort however was moderate, though it looked like it had been going through hell lately due to the scorch and blast's mark's on the wall's or the ground, but some were still smoking still meaning the Fort had just been attacked.

He crossed his arm's across his chest as he saw several Soldier's going inside the Fort, but some were carrying Crate's and at one point there was a Transport with Good's and Ammo.

Frame looked around before he began to approach the fort, but instead followed in between the group and the Transport as to not have to wait after they closed the gate.

"Excuse me, but who are you?" Frame looked to his left to see a middle aged man, roughly in his Thirties, staring at him. This man looked like a Captain yet he wore a strange design for his uniform, which was a bended down hat that made the outing parts go down to the side's of his head, as for the Uniform it covered most of his body almost like a coat.

"General Frame, here to help however I can." Frame crossed his hand's behind his back as he stared at the Man's surprised Expression, but none the less he regain his stature before and shook his head.

"Right...Well, Name's Monroe....Captain Johnathan Monroe." The Captain raised his hand out to Frame in a friendly matter unlike other's here, but Frame returned the friendly manner by shaking his hand while the other was behind his back still.

"If, you will follow me General I will show you the current situation here..." Frame nodded to Monroe who in return, turned around, and began to walk away leading Frame to the different place's around the Fort.

The First place they visited was a very large building that seemed large enough to hold maybe over a hundred Soldier's, but no doubt it was the Barrack's of the Fort.

"This is the Barrack's, but several Enemy Soldier's managed to infiltrate the Fort, yet a battle for defending the Barrack's ended up here, barley left it unscratched." Monroe sighed as he rubbed his chin, but was right when it came to the Barrack's. Almost none of the building was left untouched by battle, yet the men who sat on the first and second floor were not affected at all as they whistled or sung a song.

"What, and why are they singing?" Frame stared at every last one of the Soldier's who were obviously tired and had experienced hell enough today from the constant attack's.

"I think it's a old song from the Seventeen, Hundred's?, plus it help's them forget everything else....and also to stay calm." Monroe shook his head as he walked off, ignoring the sound's of the men's singing, and kept on with his little tour of the fort.

The Two men soon reached another building, but this one was much larger and more open the last one.

"This is ironically the clinic, and the Quartermaster's office, any supplies such as spice, candy, and Medical supplies, or anything else come's here." Frame raised a eyebrow questioning why the Quartermaster's office would be right below the Clinic.

"The Building over there is the Armory, and the other is the Commander's Office." Monroe pointed to each building, but Frame only followed his arm and finger to each.

"Where is the Commander?" Monroe immediately stopped when he began to walk again, but turned around slowly with a blank look on his face.

"Dead....I'm in Charge of the Fort and the Militia now, but god bless that poor man's soul." Monroe sighed heavily and shook his head as he stared at the ground, but obviously from Frame's point of view it seemed like this man cared about everything around him. That was unlikely to him since most Captain's and Commander's were dim witted idiot's and hotheads, but Monroe he was......Different.

"I....Understand you said, Militia?" Frame raised a eyebrow as he asked this question. It was sometimes unlikely the Empire would use Militia or would form any, but in a War like this I guess anything was possible at this point of time.

"San Francisco, Militia, I was brought in to this Militia unit after I was told that I was the most qualified to teach this young boy's and Men how to fight and shoot." Frame nodded his head slowly while also thinking, but knew Monroe had a point when he said he was the most qualified, never mind his attire.

The two were interrupted however when two Soldier's carried over another young boy who looked hurt, very hurt in fact.

"Captain....Johnny is hurt very badly." One of the Soldier's spoke while they both sat the young boy down on the ground, but when they did Monroe quickly kneeled and inspected the boy.

"Get him some medical treatment." Monroe looked up at the Soldier's as he continued to hold pressure on the boy's wound on his stomach which by now was pouring with blood.

"Sir, there are not enough Supplies, we can't even get the other wounded treated." The other Solider spoke next and had a worried look on his face as he stared at his friend dying at their feet.

"You're his Friend's aren't you?" Monroe slowly got up and looked at them both while Frame held the young boy without him having to feel more pain, but the two other's only nodded and stared at the Captain.

"Then be with him Son's, there's nothing we can do with the lack of Supplies.....He's a goner, but be here with him until his time is done." Monroe patted one of the Soldier's shoulder's before the two silent but slowly nodded and went to their friend taking him from, Frame and sat there talking to him.

"This is Damn Suicide!!" Monroe shouted to himself as he walked off looking around as he did, but Frame knew what he meant when he himself took a look around the place and all the men who were crying in agony and In pain.

"What in the hell made this happen?" Frame spoke next as he continued to look around, clearly the affect's of the men screaming in pain was affecting everyone.

"The King is what happened!" Monroe shouted out at Frame in anger that almost made the entire Fort go silent, but that didn't happen as many of the Soldier's continued to scream.

"The King, sitting on his precious throne.....he enforced harsh law's on the people here after the Rebellion's, Food Shortage's, Water shortage's, More Military, and so forth....these Death's of countless men and Women and Children....are all on that Fat Pig!!!" Monroe kicked a large barrel as sign of his anger, but when he did kick it the barrel itself had a hit a wall smashing itself into piece's.

"You have a point, I'll say that much." Frame sighed heavily as he sat down next to Monroe after he had also sat down, but the two only stared at the ground in silence.

"I-I'm sorry for my outburst, General....It's just that I've seen plenty of young men die alongside me, some being good Friend's and I hate the thought of our little "King" sitting on his throne in China, while we sit here fighting his War." Monroe sighed as he looked at the dried blood from earlier on his hand, but slowly clapped his hand's together as he looked at the ground, at least until Frame put his hand on the man's Shoulder.

"There was a old Saying once....that History remembers King's, not Soldier's....I don't believe in that." Frame sighed as he held his hand on Monroe's shoulder, and also noticed the man was listening.

"Though after battle after battle, I think that saying is very out dated....History wont ever remember the King....No....It will remember the men who gave their lives' fighting for what a King such as he." Frame stared at Monroe yet knew he got his point across when the man wiped his nose and nodded.

"Thank you, But I'll let you sit here for a few minute's, I must see to my men." Monroe shook his bloodied hand with Frame's and took off to see to his men, but Frame only had one thought on his mind as he watched the other man leave.

This Entire Civil War was the King's Fault, and the Death's of Hundred's.
