pirmas [full]

7pm, Friday. May 17th.

Jin squished the phone hard in his hand while sitting behind the wheel. It suddenly buzzed. Could it be that Namjoon replied? He didn't want to get his hopes up. But as the phone kept buzzing and cold sweat broke in Jin couldn't handle it anymore, it must have been his friend. Right?

The screen flashed in his face just for a second, his heartbeat racing, Jin took his gaze down from the road. He blinked several times trying to see what the message said but the words were blurry from the tears in his eyes.

I love him.

This one thought kept popping up in his mind as he brushed it away. All this anger, the pure hate he was filled with, it wasn't his. None of the words he said to Namjoon were his, not a single phrase did he mean but he said it all and he knew he couldn't take it back no matter what. He was scared.

He saw the desperation in NamJoon's words. He saw how much he wanted to keep him around and how he couldn't understand why was his hyung acting like he was. He saw genuine bond that NamJoon wanted to maintain. He saw so much more... or so he thought, but could it be? SeokJin didn't want to allow that thought  to overpower all the other ones in his head. If he did all this raw negative emotion he poured onto poor, unsuspecting NamJoon not only would have gone to waste but would have damaged their relationship to the point where coming back wasn't an option.

Still unable to see what the text said, SeokJin squeezed the steering wheel harder and accelerated. The car shot forward and he threw the phone onto the passanger seat. I can't read that, I can't read that, I don't want to read that. He kept trying to convince himself.

Memories started appearing in his head. Articles from the news about people being targeted, hurt, even worse... people like him. He couldn't get those horrible, graphic images out of his head. They kept switching with moments of NamJoon's smile, his lips moving as he spoke, his hair messed up by the wind. He had to protect him, because he loved him.

What if he loves me back.

He shook his head no. If NamJoon truly loved him back, if that message that he didn't manage to read was truly from his friend, then he would be in much more danger than he was not understanding SeokJin's pain and anger directed towards him that kept them apart. They were safer apart, or so SeokJin thought.

I have to read the message.

He leaned over to the passanger seat to grab the phone and the car slightly steered to the side but he quickly got ahold of it again. SeokJin slowed down the speed and lifted the phone. He was going to do it. Read the message and then... he didn't have a plan, but he didn't need one, all he needed was to know that NamJoon still is his friend. The screen flashed once again and SeokJin squinted. There was only message on the screen. Brained101...

Suddenly a loud noise pierced the silent moment of realization. The phone went flying from SeokJin's hand. Two bright headlamps shining  right in his eyes, he screamed and twisted the wheel to the side trying to avoid the collision.

With a kiss.

He didn't see those words.
