Chapter 20

Is she okay?

Is the only question Jungkook had as he saw Lily running around the seaside with a sparkler in her hand. Her face was covered with a mask that's why he was unable to see what expression she had on but he was more than sure that she didn't have any emotion on her face whatsoever. Why is she doing this? What was the purpose? Does anyone know?

Currently it is 8:30 at night and they were at Busan seaside. The beach was pretty crowded with a lot of people having a picnic, just sitting by the seaside enjoying the calming view of the sea, having a date, playing around with fireworks, all in all having a great time. Lily had dragged him here without telling him literally anything.

Lily had completely thrown his phone off the window of the motel so Doyoung or anyone couldn't track them. In Lily's words it's the least that 'motherfucking rat of a friend' deserves.

Lily ran to him with a sparkler in her hand and stood beside him while twirling that in her hand like a child.

" I will light one for you,"Lily casually said while getting another sparkler out of the pack she brought from the nearly store.

Jungkook sighed,"Lily, what are you up too?"

"What do you mean?"Lily asked even though she totally knew what he meant.

Why is she acting like nothing happened in the last twenty four hours? Why is she acting like her whole life hasn't turned upside down? Why is she acting like she has some big decisions to make? Why is she acting like nothing is wrong? Why are they suddenly on a vacation? Why isn't she asking how Jungkook knew Soobin? Why isn't she asking more questions about it?

Jungkook has so many questions to ask, and Lily knew all of them. But she is pretending to not know anything.

Jungkook sighed and crouched down beside her to help her with the sparklers,"I will do it. You might hurt yourself."

Lily gave the sparklers to him like a good girl and looked at him as he tried to light them up. Just by her gaze Jungkook can predict she is about to say something atrocious.

"Kook, do you think this pretty sparkly thingy can be used to murder.."

See?

"Lily stop,"Jungkook said, he really wasn't in the mood for this bullshit.

Lily was pleased with his reaction and let out a chuckle. After Jungkook handed her sparkler back and held his, Lily completely sat down on the sand. Jungkook soon followed and sat by her while holding his sparkler. The way fire sparks was emitting from the sparkler and the way it lit up Lily's face in the darkness was really pretty indeed. She really seemed to like that thing and how it let out sparks.

They sat silently for awhile, holding a sparkler each, Sometimes twirling it, looking at the sea, listening to other people's chatter a few times, enjoying the night breeze.

Lily was the first to break the silence,"Isn't it nice?"

"What?"

"This, you and I sitting here, without thinking about anything. Just sitting like nothing is up, isn't it nice?"

"Pretending that nothing is up and nothing actually being up are two total different things, Lily. The directions of our lives is at stake."

"I know. But I just want to..not think about anything for the time being, Jungkook. I want a real vacation for the first time in my life."

"But Lily you would have to face it anyway.."

"I'm painfully aware of that, Kook,"Lily sighed slowly turning to him,"But for now, being here feels nice."

Jungkook felt unbelievably sad at those words for some reason. His heart clenched. He softly called,"Lily.."

"Jungkook, for the time being can we pretend like nothing really is up? Can we do that? I need that."

Jungkook slowly wrapped his free hand around her shoulder gently, trying to comfort her as best as he could,"I.."

Lily cut him off again,"We don't know when we are gonna have another vacation like this, Jungkook. This is my first ever time off work and anything. I need to disconnect to figure out what I really want later. But for now I don't want to think about anything, remember anything. Can you please do this for my sake, Jungkook? I'm trying my best to not think about shit."

Jungkook gave up on his argument. No matter how urgent it was, he couldn't force Lily or bring her back to Seoul. He had to oblige. And really a small time off won't hurt too much right?

"Fine, Lily. Let's do that. Let's have a vacation. Let's have fun. Let's not think about anything. Let's pretend to be normal people on vacation for once!"Jungkook smiled at her reassuringly.

Lily nodded,"Good. It's gonna be fun."

Jungkook nodded as well and noticed Lily's sparkler had almost stopped burning,"Should I light another one for you?"

"I would be glad if you do that."

I guess, now we are playing along with this 'absolutely nothing is wrong' act for the rest of the vacation for who knows how long especially when I'm losing my mind on the inside.

Great, just great.

Well, Jungkook ate his words soon and this vacation was one of the best memories he's ever made. Jungkook had way more fun than he imagined he would. He feels a little bit embarrassed to say that he actually had fun when he was the one who was annoyed at Lily for dragging him here in the middle of this emotional mess. It's the fifth day of them in Busan. The first night they were by the beach playing with sparklers. Jungkook was obviously in a very somber mood. But that night while Lily was sleeping in the motel room he was pacing back and forth in the room trying to do what she said she's doing. Pushing all the worry, fear, thoughts away. It wasn't easy. He couldn't do it. All of the thoughts were stuck to his head like a devil on one's shoulder. But from the next day, Lily woke up and chose to not even let him have a single second to think about anything. Their schedule was packed of roaming around from different tourist attractions, trying different foods and so much stuff.

Neither Lily or Jungkook had their phone on them, so when they had run out of places to go to they went to a nearby pc cafe and searched up more places to go to, more things to, there was not a single dull moment in these five days. Jungkook really had no time to think about anything. He saw and did so many things for the first time in his life as a demon.

They visited Busan tower, the beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, kaleidoscopically colored Gamcheon culture village, they went to night markets, ate street foods, and did went boat riding Haeundae beach and so much more. These five days have to be the most eventful five days of Jungkook's life. It was crazy. Jungkook had even convinced Lily to buy a Polaroid camera so they can at least keep memories of this first and probably last vacation they're having. And Jungkook just knows Doyoung isn't gonna believe when Jungkook says the crazy things they've done. I mean..who would knowing Lily? Who knew she could do and arrange such things?

They took photos of each other, walked side by side, ate so much delicious food, saw so many beautiful sceneries, Jungkook couldn't believe it. They didn't talk about anything that could ruin the mood in these five times. They both were in a fantasy world where both of them were a very normal young people on a fun getaway. It was pure bliss for Jungkook. When they roamed around Busan hand in hand, Jungkook felt like they were a young couple on a date. And every time it made him blush. He would never admit it though in front of Lily.

Today Jungkook and Lily had just come back from another amaze-filled day at the Radium Art Gallery, a beautiful gallery jam packed with a lot of different kinds of creations and art. Lily had taken Jungkook there knowing how much he's interested in art. Jungkook was stunned to see so many different forms of arts, paintings, music, photography and so much more cool stuff there. It was right up Jungkook's alley. Might be Jungkook's favorite place they've ever visited. They had spent quite long hours there, then they had returned to their motel on foot. Jungkook was really tired. When they reached their motel, Lily had asked Jungkook to take a little rest while she goes out and does something. Jungkook wanted to follow her but Lily insisted.

Jungkook obliged. Lily has been nothing but a good sport these five days. She just wouldn't suddenly go and do something sketchy, right?

While Jungkook was alone at the motel room he admired the Polaroids they took. All of them came out so nice. Jungkook has decided he's gonna make an album with these photos and probably stick some on their refrigerator whether Lily likes it or not.

Lily came back within an hour and shocked Jungkook with a news. Jungkook's smile dropped when he heard her words.

"What did you say?"Jungkook asked again, as if he couldn't believe what she just said.

Lily raised her eyebrows but repeated what she said anyway,"I said, let's get to packing. Tonight we are going to our last destination of this trip then we're gonna go back to Seoul."

Jungkook didn't know when he expected this vacation to end but still this announcement feels like a sudden smack right across his face. He wasn't ready to hear that.

"Oh,"Is all he could get out.

"I rented a car, let's pack up quickly,"Lily said simply and went to pack the minimal things she had brought while Jungkook let out a sigh.

The started their journey when the sun was about to set. Lily had rented a black SUV for them. She was behind the wheel while Jungkook took the passenger seat. Resting his elbow against the window and his cheek against his palm Jungkook kept looking out the window. He saw as the buildings, trees, people everything become a blur in a second. The radio was on playing some latest kpop songs. Lily wasn't a fan of them but she kept it on for Jungkook. Otherwise the car ride was silent. Jungkook knew they both were dreading going back to Seoul.

Going back to Seoul would meaning bursting their small fantasy bubble. They no longer would be normal people, a young couple on vacation. Instead they would have to go back to the reality. Where Lily is far from a normal person, a cold blooded feelingless murderer and Jungkook is not even a human. They would have to go back to the mess they've left behind. Another cycle would start of Jungkook trying to push Lily to the right direction while she adamantly insists on ruining her life further.

The drive was long, they were driving out of the urban part of the city. They had reached a road with trees on both sides with barely any houses on sight. That's when finally Lily acknowledged the grim atmosphere of the car.

"Jungkook-ah, don't be too sad. We still have another place to go to before returning. So cheer up for that, would you?"Lily said in a low voice, keeping her eyes on the road.

"I'm trying."

"Aren't you even gonna ask where we're going?"Lily asked,"Well, even though it's better to be kept as a surprise. Something tells me, you would love it. You've wanted that for so long."

Jungkook frowned, thinking what he might've wanted for a long time. Was there a place in Busan that Jungkook wanted to visit for a long time and told Lily about it? Unknowingly Jungkook started expecting a little.

Jungkook had a big frown on his face when Lily stopped the car in front of what looks like an abandoned for years, dusty, full of cobwebs small schoolhouse looking building in the woods. There was literally nothing interesting or good about this building. Rather it looked ominous. The very few streetlights by the woods and the moon on the sky, lit it up a little bit from the outside but it looked like nothing but a horror movie set. There even was a big wall around this building. It was far from locality. There are only trees surrounding it and there's only a road by the trees where barely any cars drive through.

What?

Jungkook was confused. He turned to Lily who was unbuckling her seat belt. When she noticed his questioning gaze, she raised her eyebrows,"Come on, we've reached!"

"This is our last destination?"Jungkook asked pointing at the gated haunted looking building out the car window.

"Yes, now come out. Quick!"Lily said and got out, going to the back of the car to take out something. Jungkook also got out and stood outside the car looking at the building.

The more he looks at the building, the more concert he gets. Why did they three and half hours to come here? What the heck is going on?

"Hey! A little help here?"

Jungkook turned back hearing Lily's voice who was calling him to come and get the stuff out from the back of the car. Jungkook walked to her. He was once again amused by how many bags there were in the back.

"What even are these?"Jungkook asked trying to pick them up.

"You'll know when we get in,"Lily simply said and closed the hood of the car when they were done carrying all the packets and bags from the back. Lily seems to have also bought a few flashlights. She turned one on and looked at Jungkook smirking,"Shall we go in?"

Jungkook has a very bad feeling about this. He narrowed his eyes,"Lily, What're you planning? What's happening? Why do I have a weird feeling about this? I swear if you're up to something bad.."

Lily shrugged her shoulders and walked forward without letting him finish.

Jungkook sighed and followed her, holding most of the bags. Lily flashed her flashlight, making the light cut through the darkness and came to stand in front of the huge iron gates of the wall. Th crusty, chipped old iron gates light up as the light hit them. These iron gates looked like a prison's. So big, so creepy.

"Lily, can we like not go in there?" Jungkook asked.

Lily turned her head to him,"What? Why? Are you scared?"

Jungkook didn't know what to answer. So he paused.

Lily let out a chuckle of disbelief,"You're really scared? Unbelievable. There still are things you're scared of after living with me? "

Jungkook narrowed his eyes,"Listen, I have a bad feeling about this place? It kind of feels like a place full of evil energy."

Lily chuckled. This time the chuckle sounded dark,"Funny you say that, because this place is the root of a lot of evil."

"Lily, really I feel like a ghost might jump out any given moment."

Lily got out of her trace of thoughts as soon as she said and looked at him with the most disapproving look in the history of disapproving looks,"You are scared of ghosts?"

"What? No.."

Lily shook her head,"We are both so scared of two completely different things, Kook."

Jungkook frowned,"You're scared? Of what?"

Lily looked at him,"Of this place, Jungkook."

"Why? And then why are we going in there?"

Lily just gave a small smile as answer. Then she turned to the iron gate again. The light still flashing on the iron bars. Lily stood there, still while thinking about something. As if contemplating something.

"Lily, are you okay?"Jungkook asked putting all of the bags on one hand and using the free hand to pat her shoulder ever so lightly. His heart was suddenly filling with only concern for Lily.

"We have to do this, Jungkook. We have to go in,"She said in a low voice. It sounded like she was telling to herself this more than him,"You want this, Soobin wants this, Doyoung wants this...this might be the answer to everything."

"Lily-ah.."Jungkook looked at the building ahead. He thought Lily was here for a weird haunted adventure, seeing if she can scare ghosts too before going to Seoul(well, that's no something Lily won't do, so the suspicion was reasonable). But now it seems like there is way more to the story. She has come here for answers. Answers to what? Just what is this place?

Lily suddenly removed his hand from the shoulder and intertwined it with her tightly, pulling Jungkook out of his trail of thoughts. Then she looked up from the ground and to him, her eyes filled with the sudden boost of confidence.

"I can do this, I have you, Jungkook."

Jungkook doesn't know in what context she said that and what is the meaning behind her words but his heart pounded. So hard that it might've even jumped out of his chest.

The corner of her lips curved up,"Let's go in, shall we?"

Without letting him say anything, Lily turned back to the iron gates and pushed them hard. The iron gates screeched open. Lily slowly stepped in without letting his hand go. Jungkook followed her in. They stepped in the moderately big front yard of the building. It is now filled with trees and foliage. Jungkook looked around the place without letting Lily's hand go.

Lily took a deep breath and flashed light on the front gate of the building. The sign just above the front gate lit up. Jungkook whipped his head towards the dusty, old, almost broken down sign reading the name of this Godforbidden place.

Angma Care Facility.

Jungkook frowned and then turned to Lily. Lily once again took a deep breath. She must've been having a hard time. Jungkook squeezed her hand reassuringly. Lily looked up at him when he did that.

Lily's lips turned upwards slightly again in a very sad, heart clenching away.

She still kept flashing light on the sign of this building and kept looking at his eyes. Jungkook noticed how her eyes were watering ever so slightly. Are they really watering? Or is he seeing things?

"Remember when you said, you wanted to know about me? The 'real me'?"

Jungkook nodded slowly.

Lily chuckled.

"Well, so welcome,"Lily said,"Welcome to where it all started."

Jungkook held his breath.

"Welcome to the hell where I was born and grew up in."

Jungkook looked at Lily as she had a slightly hard time saying her next words without breaking from her character. Jungkook's heart beat was accelerating. He could feel the moment he was waiting for since he met Lily came closer and closer. He held Lily's hand tighter, assuring her that it's okay. He's with her. She finally uttered the words.

"I hope you don't regret wanting to know about me. Cause tonight....I'm gonna tell you everything."
