Third Person POV

("Thoughts")

"Talking"

Everyone was running as fast they can to the hill with the Death-stalker and Nevermore trailing them, the Nevermore then flew fast in front of them and out an ear-splitting caw as it landed on top of the rock.

"Well that's great." Yang said sarcastically.

All nine of them ran for cover, but the Death-Stalker not giving up was catching up to them knocking down multiple trees in the process.

"OH MAN RUN!" Jaune Screamed as they took off

"Nora distract it!" Ren said

"Gotcha" Nora said as she dodged the feather's the Nevermore was shooting at her then she took out her grenade launcher and shot multiple loved shaped grenades at the bird right into it's chest, which caused it to roar in pain and fly off.

The Death-Stalker tried to sneak up behind her and slash Nora with it's claw but Ren and Blake came up and parried it with their weapons, and Weiss came up and formed a glyph under Nora and got her out of there.

"Go, Go!" Pyrrha yelled as she shifted Milo into it's rifle form and shot at it, with Ren now by her side and shooting at it too, they then stopped shooting it when it tried to swipe them with it's claw and continued to run.

Ayanokouji right behind Pyrrha noticed that the Death-Stalker was not going to give up it's pursuit on them, he then looked into the sky and noticed the Nevermore making it's way back down to them in top speed.

("If the Nevermore's flying down to us in that kind of speed, mostly half of that bridge will collapse from the pressure.") He thought.

He then looked back at the Death-Stalker and then the Nevermore one last time before he finally came to a conclusion. ("This should work, but I have to be quick about it, If I have to guess I'd say about 20 seconds.") He thought.

"Hey you guys hurry and run across the bridge, I'll catch up with you." Kiyotaka called out.

"WHAT!... Kiyotaka what are you doing?" Ruby called out looking back at him.

"Yeah, what are you waiting for?" Yang added.

"I have to agree with her!... what are you trying to do?" Weiss also called out.

"It'll be fine, just trust me on this." Kiyotaka said.

"BUT W-" Jaune was about to say, but was interrupted by Pyrrha.

"let's just trust him on this one okay?" Pyrrha responded to them and she then looked at him and gave him a smile and nodded before continuing to run across the bridge.

Ruby was really reluctant to leave her friend and scared to see him get hurt, but she trusted him because he helped her before. "Ok just please don't die." She called out before continuing to run.

Weiss and Jaune also felt the same way as Ruby, but they eventually nodded and continued to run before Weiss turned and said something to him. "I will never forgive you, If you manage to get yourself killed." She said with a serious look before turning to run again.

Kiyotaka nodded at them and pulled out liberty and stared down at the Death-Stalker. It then tried to swipe it's claw at him, but he ducked under it and ran up to it and slashed it across the face. It roared in pain and tried to use it's stinger to stab him into the chest, but he parried it and pushed it away and then decided to run across the bridge.

He saw the rest of the group ahead of him and near the end of the bridge, he then looked up and saw the Nevermore gaining on them. ("10 more seconds.") He thought as he was almost halfway across the bridge.

The Death-Stalker right behind him again tried to use it's claw to slash him, but he jumped over it, it then tried to use it's stinger again to stab him into the chest and he was about to turn around and parry it again, but then it changed it's direction at the last second and was heading right for his face. It missed, but tried again multiple times but kept failing.

Kiyotaka then parried the stinger again and threw it off him, he then looked up and saw the Nevermore speeding up to him very close now. ("five, four, three, two, one") He thought.

The Death-stalker at one last attempt to try and hit Kiyotaka use both of it's claws and tried to grab him with it's claws. ("Now!") He thought as he did a back-flip to gain some distance from the Death-Stalker.

The Death-Stalker missed it's attack and couldn't pursuit Kiyotaka any further when it looked to the side and saw the Nevermore crash right into it breaking the bridge in half, the Death-Stalker roared in pain as it fell into the abyss below. The Nevermore was in pain as well but shook it off and continued to fly around it's prey.

Kiyotaka finally sighed and ran to the end of the bridge joining the rest of the group. He finally reached all of them and saw them in shock at how he was able to get rid of the Death-Stalker without killing it.

"What happened you guys? Is something wrong?" He said not understanding why they were all staring at him.

"Whoa" Jaune said

"H-How did you do that?" Weiss asked.

"THAT WAS AWESOME... YOU GOTTA TEACH ME HOW DO TO THAT!" Ruby screamed happily as she sped up to his face.

"YEAH TEACH ME TOO!" Nora said as she was also in his face.

Kiyotaka was not able to get a word in as they bombarded him with praise, only for Pyrrha and Yang to get out of their shock and decided to help him out.

"Come on, give him some room people, but I have to say I'm Impressed Kiyotaka I wasn't expecting that, good job." Yang said with a smirk.

"I agree your plan was very impressive, you must be really smart." Pyrrha added with a smile.

"I wasn't expecting it either, but still good job." Blake added while smiling.

"Yes, your plan was really brilliant." Ren also added while nodding.

Kiyotaka shrugged, "I'm not that smart, I'm just more cunning." He said.

The groups moment was interrupted as they heard a huge caw into the sky and noticed the nevermore still in the air circling around them.

(Song End)

"Oh... I completely forgot about that thing." Jaune said

"Don't worry we can take care of it!" Ruby suggested.

"Yeah! let's hit it with everything we've got!" Yang said smashing her fists together.

Weiss sighed, "Fine let's get this over with."

"I'm ready." Blake said.

"We'll support you guys from below if you need it." Jaune said with Pyrrha, Nora, Ren, and Kiyotaka also giving a nod as they will also help them from below if they need it as they started to run to another part of the bridge.

"Thanks you guys." Ruby said with a smile as She, Yang, Weiss, and Blake jumped up on top of the pillars of the bridge.

They readied their weapons as they saw the Nevermore circling around them, they then switch their weapons to gun mode and started firing at the Nevermore, and it was tanking the attacks they were firing at it and rammed into the pillar in the middle of the bridge breaking it.

They jumped from each bridge piece to another as Weiss then used her glyphs to get to another part of the bridge, then Ruby who used crescent rose in it's gun mode to shoot into the air and send her up to another part of the bridge, followed by Blake who ran up the pillar and used gambol shroud to wrap itself around a pillar and was now standing on top of it, and Yang who used her gauntlet's to shoot the near by bridge pieces and sending her into the air and landing on top of a pillar.

"None of this is working." Weiss said annoyed.

Ruby looked over at Weiss then turned to Blake who just landed and then Yang who was shooting at the Nevermore. "I have a plan, cover me." She said she fired crescent rose and went into the air as Weiss nodded at her.

(Meanwhile on the other side of the bridge)

"Do you think they'll be okay?" Jaune asked feeling worried.

"I'll sure they'll be fine Jaune, we just have to believe in them." Pyrrha said

"YEA!...COME ON YOU GUYS YOU GOT THIS." Nora yelled.

"Yes, they seem to work well together." Ren said.

Kiyotaka was silent and watched the 4 girl's battling the Nevermore. ("We have nothing to worry about, from some of the abilities I've seen from them, they should be able to take out the Nevermore no problem, as long as they work together.") He thought.

(Back to the battle with the Nevermore)

Yang was currently firing bullets from her gauntlets at the Nevermore, some of them connected and it roared in pain as it turned around and opened it's mouth and tried to eat her. Yang at the last second jumped and was standing up with her hand on top of it's mouth so it couldn't eat her.

"I. Hope. Your. Hungry!" Yang said as she was firing bullets inside of the Nevermore's mouth and then turned around and did a black-flip out of it's mouth and landed on the ground as the Nevermore then crashed into the mountain and roared in pain.

Weiss then used her speed to get to the nevermore as it was momentarily stunned at the moment and froze it's tail in a block of Ice preventing it from flying off, then she did a back-flip and created a glyph to go back to Ruby.

Blake who was on one pillar used gambol shroud and stuck it into one of the pillars and tossed it creating a line to Yang who caught it and stuck another part of gambol shroud into the pillar next to it, creating a huge line in the middle of the two.

Ruby then used crescent rose and shot herself towards the middle of the line and landed on it with her feet on the bottom of crescent rose getting into a catapult position. Weiss formed a glyph behind it and it turned black and now white as the line was pulled back.

"I guess this is the other idea you came up with?" Weiss asked.

"Think you make the shot?" Ruby asked.

"Hmph...can I?" Weiss said sarcastically.

"Can You?" Ruby said confused.

"Of course I can!" Weiss yelled.

Ruby then got ready as Weiss used her weapon to make the glyph go red and then launched the catapult sending her speeding towards the Nevermore. Ruby was shooting at the Nevermore with crescent rose into the air and then changed her position and used crescent rose to hook the Nevermore around the neck with it and landed her feet on the side of a mountain.

Ruby then started to run up the mountain as Weiss created multiple glyphs in front of her to increase her speed, she then let out a war cry as she finally reached the top of the mountain and use crescent rose to rip the Nevermore's head off at the last second with it's body falling into the abyss below.

(Song End)

(On the other side of the bridge)

"Wow" Jaune said in amazement as the others looked amazed as well except for one person.

Kiyotaka looked up and saw Ruby looking down at them, standing in victory as they defeated the Nevermore. ("I knew they could do it, I didn't have any doubt about that at all. What am I gonna do now though? the test is almost over and I still have yet to find a partner, now that I think about it the number of first years did seem to have a fewer number of students enrolling into Beacon so one person was eventually gonna be without a teammate, I know the headmaster must've noticed this as well")

"Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark" as Ozpin called out their names as they made their way to the stage. "The four of you retrieved the black bishop piece, from this day forward you will work together as team CRDL (Cardinal) lead by... Cardin Winchester!" he said as the audience clapped politely as they walked off the stage.

"Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces, from this day forward you will work together as team JNPR (Juniper) lead by... Jaune Arc!" Ozpin said

"Huh?...lead by?" Jaune said in surprise.

"Congratulations young man." Ozpin said.

Pyrrha playfully hit Jaune in the shoulder, but was surprised when he fell down to the ground and smiled apologetically at him as the next teams were called.

"Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao long. The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces and from this day forward you will be known as team RWBY (Ruby) lead by... Ruby Rose!" Ozpin said.

Weiss was a little shocked, but not overly surprised when Ruby was announced team leader, she came up with good plans with the Beowolf's and the Nevermore back then which was really impressive, but her pride will not allow her to admit that to Ruby. Ruby was also surprised she was made team leader but no words came out of her mouth and she was hugged by her sister. "I'm so proud of you!" Yang said to her sister.

"And finally...Kiyotaka Ayanokouji would you please make your way to the stage." Ozpin said.

Kiyotaka not far from the stage begin to get up from his seat and make his way to the stage, Teams RWBY and JNPR were sending nervous glances at him because they knew he was the only one without a partner and didn't know what was gonna happen to him.

"Mr. Ayanokouji it seems we've had a odd number of first year student's today taking Initiation and unfortunately you were the only one paired without a partner."

"......." Kiyotaka decided to stay silent.

"Now under the normal circumstances that if you didn't manage to get a partner, you would fail the test and would be expelled from the school, but then you displayed this." Ozpin said as he then showed a video of Kiyotaka fighting off the Death-Stalker and eventually making the Nevermore crash into it, and most people in the room looked shocked at the plan he made.

"Never before had I seen such planning from a huntsmen-in-training, this here proves you are more than deserving to be here. As the only person to retrieve the black pawn chess piece while having no partner I here-by announce you as Beacon's first one man team and you are also allowed to help other teams in missions if you or I see fit. Congratulations young man." Ozpin said as everyone clapped.

Kiyotaka was not surprised at all he was put on a team by himself, he doubted the headmaster would put him on any of the other remaining teams like RWBY or JNPR because it wouldn't be fair for five people to be on the same team.

("Even though I've made some friends, I still ended up on a team by myself, at least I'm not expelled.") Kiyotaka thought as he let out a deep sigh and was making his way off the stage. He wondered why the headmaster would bend the rules just to make him stay at Beacon and make a one-man team that's never been made in the school, those's kind of cases were extremely rare and teams that were made like that didn't survive for very long and died sooner or later. Even though he didn't really like the attention he was getting at this announcement, he then thought that being on a one man team would not be so bad, because he could assist teams RWBY and JNPR at anytime, and he was used to being by himself a lot in the past.

As soon he got off the stage he was immediately confronted by a concerned Ruby. "Kiyotaka are you ok with this? You have no partner and your gonna be on a team by yourself." She asked while frowning.

"Yeah... I guess I'm fine with it, I won't be totally alone because I can assist any teams that need help on missions like yours right?" He asked.

"Yeah, but Ozpin made it sound like we'll be working with our partner a lot, won't that tire you out?" She retorted.

"Good observation Ms.Rose." Glynda Goodwitch said as she entered the room. Everyone in the room that was about to get up and leave sat back down and there was nothing but silence in the room.

"Mr. Ayanokouji is an exception in this case, but it's not like it hasn't happened before. Assignments, and Sparring will be adjusted for him accordingly because his lack of a partner and will be handled by the professors in the class"

Kiyotaka carefully took this information into consideration and wondered how it was gonna be, he never went to school before, and this whole thing seemed like a lot of work for him and he sighed deeply at the thought of having to expend more effort than he has to.

After that explanation Glynda then went on to explain what to expect from Beacon and also assign team rooms and handing out everybody's schedules for class. She then gave all of the first years a tour of Beacon and where to find places like the cafeteria, the training room, and showing paths to go to certain classes and their own rooms.

After the tour was over, Glynda told them it was getting late and walked them to the cafeteria where they ate dinner while Ayanokouji was sitting at a table thinking about what Glynda had said about how not having a teammate is gonna work for him.

After dinner, everyone started to clear out of the cafeteria and started to walk with their teams into the dorms that they were assigned to and get some rest for the night.

Ayanokouji POV

As I was making my way to my dorm room, I still couldn't help but think about how I got put on a team by myself and even get my own dorm room as Professor Glynda explained It to everybody. I got some envious looks at multiple people that seem Jealous of the fact that I had my own room, even team RWBY, and some of JNPR were sending looks as well when they heard that information.

I then stopped as I made it to my dorm room and was about to go inside, but was stopped by some voices.

"Hey Kiyotaka!...wait up!" Ruby yelled.

"Yeah wait for us!" Jaune added.

"Hey guys, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at your dorm rooms?" I asked as they finally stopped in front of me.

"I was but then I saw you, and saw how close your dorm room was to our's and we just had to let you know." Ruby said with a bright smile on her face.

"Yeah... I couldn't believe it either, My team's dorm is in the middle, and Ruby's team dorm is on the left side of ours, while yours is on the right" Jaune said chuckling.

I then looked and they were right, both of their team's dorms is just a simple 10 second walk from there. "Wow... what a coincidence." I said

"I know right." Jaune said still chuckling.

While I'm glad to hear this information I really wanted to go into my Dorm and take a shower and then maybe get some sleep. I wasn't feeling tired in the slightest, but it's bad to stay up late.

"I would like to talk more about this with the both of you, but I'm just gonna go ahead and take a shower and get some sleep." I said

Ruby and Jaune looked a bit dejected at first, but perked up once they heard he liked to talk about it later. "Ok then, but before you go let's do this!" Ruby said as she stuck out her fist gesturing us for a fist bump. "This right here will be a leadership fist bump since You, Jaune, and I are leaders for our teams and we'll promise to do our best!"

"But... Kiyotaka doesn't have a team right?" Jaune asked feeling confused.

"Even though he doesn't have any teammates he can still be a leader right? He can also join other teams like ours and help us out with stuff. He can help and motivate a lot of people to make them a better person of themselves and want to follow in his footsteps, Am I right?" Ruby explained to Jaune and was confident in her answer.

"Wow...I guess so." Jaune said shocked at her explanation.

Even though Ruby is not as old as the rest of the people in Beacon she has a way with words, and has a heart of gold within her and puts her friends first and thinking about herself last. She seems like a really good friend to have.

I made a fist into my hand and touched Ruby's fist "You're right, let's do our best." I said whole nodding.

Jaune also made a fist and joined us in the fist bump. "Yea, let's do our best." Jaune said smiling.

Ayanokouji POV

I waved goodbye to Jaune and Ruby as I went into my dorm room to turn in for the night, I finally got a good look at my room and noticed that it was way to big for just one person to be having all to themselves.

It had four beds, a clock at the top, three windows, one closet, one bathroom, two desk chairs with tables, and one bookshelf.

I can see why some people were now envious of me getting my own room because you can have a huge amount of space putting things you wanted here and there. Unfortunately for me I didn't need all of this space because I didn't have any use for it besides the bed, the bathroom, the closet, and finally the clock, and the rest would just sit there being empty.

I could ask the headmaster if he could take out the extra beds and put them somewhere else, but immediately disregarded it as that will leave even more space in the room. I then decided not to think about it anymore and started to take off my clothes and go into the shower.

After spending about 10 minutes into the shower I dried myself off and put on my white t-shirt with some black shorts and white socks that was in my bag, and then went back into the bathroom to brush my teeth and when I was done I then hopped into one of the beds that was closer to one of the windows.

Freedom was simply the best. If I could eat something I could, If I wanted to go somewhere I wouldn't be put into a cell, It's almost like a dream come true for me. I can have a new life now. I even made some friends, but I don't know if it was because of the circumstances that happened or if it was just simply me. I was eternally grateful at the new life I was given, so much that I couldn't even go to sleep if I wanted to. My eyes just stayed open.

As I laid into the bed I was staring out one of the windows for 5 minutes before I started to think about certain memories that happened a long time ago.

(flashback)

A brown haired kid with golden eyes was sitting in one of the singular tables doing a knowledge test as everybody else around him was doing the same.

Then suddenly a tall man in a suit with brown hair and golden eyes similar to the kid was walking around observing the students before stopping right of him.

"Kiyotaka" He called out.

The boy looked up from his test and looked at the man with emotionless eyes staring straight at the person he know's that called him.

"Remember this, to have power and fail to use it, IS THE BEHAVIOR OF A FOOL."

(Present Time)

"A fool huh" I said as I then got up to turn off all of the lights in the room and went back to bed pulling the covers over me as I started to go to sleep, so I can be prepared for classes tomorrow.

AN: Man another chapter in the works! I hoped you liked It and liked some of the fight scenes I added here and there because TBH I'm still average at them lol but hopefully I can slowly get better.
