✥Chapter 22: Tonight's the Night pt.1✥

Januis pov

"I know I've seen that girl somewhere before" father rests his finger on his chin, "Sweetheart, will you show us a picture of her again?" mother asks. I took out my phone and pulled up a picture of y/n and gave it to my mother. She and father both looked at it, "....She looks like m/n in a way-Its her!!" father almost exclaims, as the limo stopped at a stop light. "Who?" I ask, "Januis! Do you not realize that is the princess of Hidelington!! The track record, the pacer test- even made it on the track team with you! Did not you see why I told you to keep close with her?"

 "THAT is the princess? She acts more like a tomboy if you ask me, father" 

"No wonder. She probably kept that persona just as a disguise. Januis, did you feel any...connection towards the royalty?" mother jumps in, the limo kept going. "I felt it the moment I touched her, mother, father. But she is attracted so someone else, she has many guys after her." 

"And you have many girls after you. " mother steps in again. 

I noticed y/n's heartbeat was faster every time she was near Adrien, and Chase was the same way with y/n and Lana." Now, since she is the girl we're looking for, what about those other two that keep following her? Lana and Chase?" father changes the subject. "I believe those are her body guards in a way." I answer back. "Lana must be the Shadow Hunter. Listen, you know the call for us when it is time. Remember what we've told you as this is an important night. This is the only time you can come out as yourself- fangs and all." my father encourages me.

 "Are you sure this is your mate?" my mother questions, "Definitely, mother".

Your pov

"I have to say I'm a bit excited for this I wanna see is Adrien gonna be at this"I look at my gown. "50/50" Lana winks.

 We both was waiting outside since my mom and dad told me to tell Lana and Chase we all wait in the center of Hidelington. "Ah there's Chase!!" Chase came up to us, he was in a black and white tux with a blue tie that matched his hair. His hair was into a mohawk full of shiny sky blue curls. "Never seen you dressed so nicely besides a leather jacket" Lana smirks.

"Well its a masquerade isn't it?" he slightly blushes. 

"Listen are you still mad at me the other day....at the cafe?" I lay a hand on his shoulder, why is he so stiff? "No." 

"Yes you are, and I want to apologize-"

 "I get it you don't like me but you can't help it. I mean I had another girl in mind but...I liked you more. I should say sorry on my part for being a jerk, I should've took the hint but instead I ignore it.  This is what happens when people refuse to see the truth huh?" he shoves his hands into his pockets from the fall breeze.

 "I'm sorry." he looks away.

 All three of us stayed silent the rest of the wait, I took a glance at Lana who was looking down at the ground. "*ahem* So... why are we waiting here?" Lana attempts to break the silence, "I'm not sure my parents never told me. But if we're supposed to get to the party, how can we cross a field without getting the least bit dirty?! I can't hold two people ya know!" I say. 

"Not exactly su-" Chase was interupted by a sound of horses-...horses?! We all stop and look seeing a carriage stop in front of us. 

"NO WAY!" I gasp,  mom and dad hopped out, "This is your transportation to the masquerade, now I must warn you, be really cautious tonight as it is a full moon! So just in case anything happens tonight, here" my dad says as my mom took out a small flat suit case. She opened it and gave each of us a knife looking handle, "These are sharp retractable daggers, press the silver button and- "EEP!" I almost yell as the dagger almost cut through my skin, "That happens" my mom face palms. "These special daggers are covered with a special formula made by the village doctor. It won't exactly kill the vampires, but it can injure them and maybe distract them for a bit. These are only for emergencies. Lana, Chase please keep an eye out for anything suspicious-and for y/n as well. Chase don't forget." my mom glances at Chase, he nods.

 "Now, hurry before you're all late you only have 15 minutes before the party starts!" my dad says. The coachman hopped down and opened the door for us. "I'm gonna be so embarrassed..." I blush. "My Princess." the coachman bows as I stepped in the coach, Lana and Chase followed. The door was shut and the coachman climbed onto his drivers seat, and the coach started moving. 

"Whats up y/n?" Lana elbows me, "Everyone else has a car or limos while we're over here in a coach from the 1800's " I rest my elbows on my knees and my head in my hands.  "Y/n you don't need a car or all of these fancy other things everyone else has to prove yourself. We're all a family and that's what counts" Chase smiles. "...Besides you are getting treated like how you're supposed to be. Even Chloe would love to ride in this!" Lana says.

 We was at the stop light and saw people staring at us through the no-glass windows. "Guys put on your masks! We're almost there!!" Lana starts. I placed my mask on as did Lana and Chase. Lana had on a dark purple gown with some sequins and  a matching purple mask with fancy glitter and feathers, and Chase had on a matching blue one. 

I had a green mask that had white dots at the bridge of the nose of it and going to the eyebrow and white lines outlining it. There it was, La Grande Hotel, "So we need to make a code name if there's an emergency!" Chase says, "How about our old code names?" I ask,  we all agreed on it.  Cars drove off as people in beautiful gowns, costumes and tuxedos were entering the building. We was already getting snaps from people's phones. 

"I'm gonna probably die of embarrassment tonight" I bury my face in my hands. The  coach stopped in front of a long red carpet heading into the hotel, Chloe was walking in, stopping by and taking pictures. Her hair was in a ponytail and had a yellow tule gown on with black stripes and a matching mask on-wait is she a bee? 

The coach opened the door for me and helped me down, I was already getting stares, "Who is that?!" "I love that ride she has! Is she a deer?" "Look at that gorgeous gown!". Lana and Chase followed next. We  walked down the carpet as outside of the hotel was illuminated by the camera flashes of press and bloggers.  

I heard the engine of a car behind me and the door slam of a car, "Oh who is that now?!" I hear more press. We went in and the place.....it was HUGE! It didn't even look like a hotel!! There was a gigantic commons area where everyone was dancing and whatever, the floors are marble. A grand stair case that led to upper levels blanketed in rich red velvet trimmed in gold along with glimmering silver stair case rails.

 Tables filled with a huge buffet and drinks served in fancy glasses. There's a tall and large ivory white and gold grandfather clock on the wall as well.  There's even white-clothed tables  and chairs to sit and rest in too. A lot of people are here- a lot, yet so many faces that are masked. I'm seeing black cats, ladybugs...wait is that someone dressed as me?! Okay getting weird now.  "Man so much to do here!" I place my hands on my hips. 

I heard a loud bang, everyone turned around seeing the doors closed, "It must be ready to start" I whisper. The talking stopped, there was patting on the mic  and everyone looked forward and the principal of our school was on top of the first set of stairs. "Is he an owl?" Chase whispers, "Seems like it"  Lana says back. "Thank you all for attending this year's masquerade!! Also Happy Halloween to everyone as well! We hope you enjoy this as a reward for your excellence! Please remember this party ends at 12:30 and you may leave anytime. We will have a reveal at midnight-when we all take our masks off and show our true colors! Until then enjoy the full moon and have a great time!" everyone applauded and clapped as the principal stepped down the stairs and blended in with the crowd. 

"Its best we separate for larger cover. " I say loudly over the booming music, "Alright just text us if ya need anything!" Lana says as she and Chase soon disappeared into the crowd as well.  Strobe lights and lasers pierced through. I saw a table and swooped past dancing  people, I sat down in the farthest corner I could think of (me all the way).
