"Good evening, everyone!" A certain red echidna slammed the door open, the whole house rattled with the sudden change in motion. "Oops, hope I didn't break that door..."
"Knuckles!" Sonic called out, waving to the red mobian standing in the doorway. Shadow sat in silence, watching the echidna walk up the grand staircase, walking into this small group of family-like friends. Everything was flying through his head, everything he ever knew about echidnas lead to one thing: only they can guard the Master Emerald. 
"Hello?" A finger snapped Shadow back into reality. "Mobius to Shadow, do you read me?" Sonic asked, waving his hand up to his older brother's face. 
"Huh? Oh! Yes, I'm fine." Shadow answered, but he knew that was a lie. He was definitely not okay, he was in the same room as the Guardian of the Master Emerald! What will he even say to him? 

"So...? You're Sonic's brother?" Knuckles asked, placing himself right in front of Shadow's face. "I'm Knuckles, and you are...?" 
Shadow was speechless, or rather, he voice just drained away. 
"Shadow! I'm Shadow and, wow! It's a pleasure to meet you, guardian of the Master Emerald." Shadow shook Knuckles' awaiting hand. 
"Huh, popular with some mobians, I see." The red guardian mused, shaking the ebony's hedgehog hand. 
"Are you kidding?! Everyone on Bloodshed knows about you, we've all heard the story!" 
"Huh, never knew." 

The two anthropomorphic mammals talked and talked non-stop about the Master Emerald, what it was, the myth, the history, all of that. And while they did, Sonic and Silver shrugged it off and returned to their normal conversations.
