Chapter 2.5
---flash back brought to you by Allistor (Allistor's POV)---
It was dark and raining, it was past midnight and I knew where to find Arthur on this spasific day. I had almost forgotten. It was May 30th. He was drinking to try and forget what he did to France.
I always guessed he would also be drunk somewhere in his country too. Neither one of them ever did to well on this day.
I picked up Arthur from the place he called me from. It was one of the smaller pubs on the eastern side of town. Once I opened the door I caught sight of him sitting at the bar slumped over, with a beer spilled all over the counter top and dripping onto the floor.
As I approached him I heard his half coherent babbling. I set my hand on his back. "Come on,' it's time to get going."
"Allis-stor-" he slurred. "Why did-I do it?" I ignored his comment and proceed to pick him up. "Franc-is, is alone because-ah me." I keep a straight face as we walk outside.
That's where he hurls for the first... second, and third times. By the time we finally reached the car he was babbling again.
"Francy really loved her, why did I do that to him?" He sniffed. I buckled him into the passenger seat of my car.
On the way home he puked a total of six more times, I was able to pull over to the side of the road. When I reached his house I noticed a different car in the driveway.
"Arthur, is that your car?" I asked. "No, bloody hell. She can't see me like this!" "Who?" "_____! She can't see me like this!"
_____, that was that human girl he started dating. She hadn't seen him drunk before? Granted he's a bit upset right now.
He was still rambling on. I started to pull out of his driveway. "You're coming to my house." I tell him. On the way there he gets sick twice more before passing out.
As I unbuckle him I noticed tears had escaped his eyes and were streaking down his face. I carried him inside. As I reached the front door he began to stir.
I put him in the guest room but he was clinging around my neck, blubbering again about how through all the wars he was such a terrible person, and that's why he deserved to be alone.
"You're not alone you idiot." I tell him unlatching his fingers from around my neck. God he smelled terrible.
"Let me take some of your clothes, I need to warsh them."
Downstairs I started to toss his clothing in the washing machine. But rummaging through his pockets first. Coming up with his wallet, and his phone, on which he called me.
I clicked the home button, to see he had 9 missed calls from his lass. She was probably worried about him. As I was starting at the screen it began to ring.
It was her.
It was my brother's lass. What do I do? I ended up answering it. "Hello?" "Arthur? Is that you? Are you ok? Where-?" "No, this is Allistor, his older brother." There was silence for a moment, before she spoke again.
"Is Arthur alright? He called me but something happened to the connection or something." There was a bit of panic in her voice. "Yeah, he got a bit... Drunk, and-" "Allis-stor! Wh-wher- are you doin?!" I knew she had to have heard him through the phone. "Dont tell her- I-" then he fell down the stairs trying to come to see who I was on the phone with. What's with this bloke? (He really didn't want anyone to speak to her. Ever.)
"hold on." I tell her. Before putting down the phone. I pick up my little brother sprawled at the bottom of the steps. "What do you think yer doin?!" I tell him as I cart him back off to the guest quarters. As I set him on the bed he looks to me and says, "Dont 'ell her-" "There's no hiding the fact that your drunk now, you git- you're screamin' through the whole house!" "Not that- don't tell her I'm a counrt-y!" He wines before passing out again.
I almost couldn't believe he hadn't told her yet, they'd been together almost 6 months. Then again, I do understand why he hasn't too.
I just sigh before I go back to the laundry room where I left the phone. "Sorry, he was crying. He doesn't want you to see him drunk." "Oh- ... I just had no idea what happened to him, there was some kind of commotion when he called, I think it might have been on accident, and I-" "Yeah, he'll be home tomorrow." "...Thank you." There was another silence before I said "Then I'll let you go." "Alright have a good night." She hung up.
This girl is different, she actually cares about my little brother. No one ever has before. I could hear it in the sincerity of her voice. I take his wallet and phone up stairs to set on the counter. I open his wallet to be greeted by a picture of him and who I assumed to be his girlfriend.
In the picture he had his arm around her shoulders, and her head resting on the side of his. They looked like they were laughing, their eyes so full of love. It's something I had never seen in him before.
I was happy for him but at the same time I was very sad.
Because I knew she was only human. And he knew it too.
