We hurried. Or to be exact I rushed Sana to hurry her steps. We got to the parking lot without anyone noticing, but I didn't care if others sees. I just didn't want him to land his eyes on us. I didn't want to lose my friend's trust, for one time when I felt brave enough. When I felt free. Sana gazed me feeling a little bit uncomfortable.
"What is going on, Yoongi?" I have been called that millions of times, but only in her lips it sounded like a spell. Like a curse on my heart.
I twirled a key on my finger without answering. "How about we have a little educational tour around the city?" I smirked and waited for her answer. She remained silent.
I saw Sana doubt herself. I saw her doubt me. She was hesitating. The forbidden fruit tempted me badly, but for her it was her addiction. Danger and adventure was the poison she got addicted to. It's crazy how solely her eyes gave out that information. But I also judged by her choice to stay with Manhyung. She wasn't stupid, I know she saw the player in him, yet she was fine with that. It excited her. I knew she will say yes. I hoped she says yes.
"No," my world shattered. How could I have been so wrong. "This is not right, Yoongi." She shook her head in disbelief. "Why are you doing this?" I couldn't just tell her. Could I? Tell a girl that you fell in love with her from the first sight and now you were trying to win her heart without losing your best's friend's trust? Now that was impossible.
"Just this once." It wasn't an answer, but as I lied my hand on the lethally tempting motorcycle seat, she bit her lip. This was what she wanted.
Adrenaline rushed through my veins as I felt her hop on the vehicle in the seat behind me. I got tongue-tied just by the thought of telling her to hold on tight for her safety. But she did it without me reminding her. Her arms wrapped around my waist and my stomach did a flip. I did my best to still act cool about it. As we pulled out the parking lot for the split second I was sure that it was Manhyung's leather jacket that flashed in front of my eyes, but I couldn't tell if he saw us.
After all, it didn't matter at that moment. Nothing, but this ride mattered. The streets weren't empty, bht even during these busy work hours I easily balanced between cars and trucks and buses full with people stuck in traffic and started driving away. Sana didn't tell me a word when the view of the city started to get blury from the dusts of the countryside road. She just went along with whatever came to my head, and I have to admit, I couldn't be happier.
The hour passed like a minute as if someone has surpassed the time. Strangely, Sana didn't check the time. When I finally turned off the engine and took out the key she hoped off the ride safely landing on the green grass on the sideway. She slipped on the ground covered in wet grass, but I quickly pulled her closer and we were both left standing stable. Except for my heart, which was about to explode.
She thanked me for the help with a nod and shook off my hands. Sana threw her backpack on the motorcycle and started walking away from the vehicle. Deeper into the slightly bushy forest further away from the road. Her steps were quick, certain and relaxed. It looked for me that she knew where her feet was taking her. It seemed that she knew the place I brought her to and I decided to just follow.
Soon we made our way through the pathless forest to the other side. There was no road, no people, nothing. Just nature and us. As if she just had changed the world. Flipped it upside down. Made it a better place. In front us a small lake buried its waves into a sandy ground. Without hesitation Sana took off her shoes and went into the water, just so it could reach her ankles, not further.
I watched her enjoying the moment and got so lost in the view and feelings that I forgot that I was standing all stiff and frozen by myself. When she turned around I gulped. Her eyes were full of happiness. I couldn't help, but look away. I couldn't blame myself for not being able to make her happy like this all the time. I wasn't brave enough to make her happy. I wanted, but this was just one time thing and we knew it.
We didn't need words to understand that this afternoon was more than okay. I didn't need her to express her thankfulness if she felt any. I was the one who should be thanking her. Just by this one ride, she made me the happiest man alive. Driving back to school I could feel her resting her head on my shoulder and I couldn't ask for more. That's all I really needed. Just her and the wind in my hair. I wanted for this road to last forever.
Unfortunately, it had to end. And as we stopped in the parking lot someone was already waiting for us. But it wasn't Manhyung as I could have expected. He was nowhere in sight, however this group of girls were standing right where I pulled over. I recognised few familiar faces. Manhyung's past's loves and couple of our classmates. They somehow didn't seem pleased with our arrival.
"Hey Sana!" One of them called out, I didnt expect them to speak. "Having two boys on your leash at once? Must be fun." The girl snorted and my throat dryed out. She didn't dare. That's what I thought. But she did. I stepped in front of Sana to protect her from hurtful words, but I knew it won't help.
"Best friends fighting for your attention, must be so romantic." The other teased for Sana to burst out, but she kept calm.
"Hey, Yoongi," that was new for them to notice me. "Picking up trash left after Manhyung?"
My world turned red, the blood in my head seemed about to spill out. I didn't care who spoke what about me, but Sana was another deal and that girl just called her a trash. I couldn't stand this. So I took a step forwards, however I immediately felt someone pulling me back. Of course it was Sana. She shook her head. "No." She mouthed. "Just leave." She suggested and started dragging me along.
As we went into the school building she smiled at me sourly. I knew that hallways soon fill up with people. "Just this once, Yoongi, okay?" Her voice was hopeful and I nodded as my heart torn apart. The bell rang and Sana disappeared in the crowd. But a pair of eyes was still digging into my skull.
