A song/poem based off the ending Damon and Elena interaction of season three episode two of the show, the Vampire Diaries. It is mostly in Damon's point of view but it can be interchangeable. This is meant to be a fluid piece to work with anything.

I would tell you I don't care as long as you still decide I am worth saving.
I would cry once and a while, but that is okay as long as no one sees.
The only thing certain in my life is you.

But; what I don't get is why it still hurts the most.
To see you standing so close, and then you walk away.
I understood a long time ago, that you may never know.

Because no matter what, if it came down to the world or you,

I could live without day and night.
I could survive in the dark and light.
I could go on just for days without anything sustaining me....
But the one thing,
I can never do is go on in a world without you.

I am okay with being the bad guy.

I am okay with whatever they do to me as long as you stay breathing.

But why did you give up out there?
