How do I write literally anything else?
Uh, no boom boom, though
"Kacchan... I need to talk to you..."
Katsuki groaned, handing his steed to the squire. "That's never good," the Prince muttered in reaponse.
The greenette shifted, though, instead of his normal laugh to that response. "Privately..."
"If it's important enough to see me as soon as I return from a hunt, then just fucking spit it out, Deku."
Izuku pursed his lips, looking around. "Well..." Katsuki crossed his arms and looked the greenette up and down. The Omega hadn't been this nervous around him in a very long time. Izuku breathed deeply. "I have... I'm leaving..."
Katsuki raised brow, scowl deepening. "Leaving? Fuckin'- where? Why?"
"I found a mentor. I'm going to be an apprentice." The greenette attempt eye contact and a smile. Both were weak and wobbly.
"Okay..? Why do you need to leave? What the hell is this apprenticeship for?"
"Medicine..."
Katsuki snorted and laughed, head tilting back. "You don't have to fucking leave for that, dumbass! Besides, I thought we discussed this already. You weren't going to be taking an apprenticeship. There's still so much to go over if you're going to be my queen."
Izuku swallowed hard, fingers tugging at the hems of his sleeves. "Right... But... I think it... It would be helpful and useful... And... The mentor offering to take me in that knows advanced medicine... Is... He's traveling... So, I'll- I'll be going with him..."
The prince's jaw clenched, glare returning to the greenette. "What fucking game are you playing, Deku," he demanded lowly, not bothering to reign in his heightening pheromones.
Whimpering, the shorter shrunk back and tilted his head in submission. This isn't normal Deku behavior and Katsuki hates it.
"I-I'm not... I just- it's a skill that would be helpful- useful-"
"Then learn how to fucking use a sword."
"I can wield a sword!" Izuku retaliated, his familiar bite returning. However, it quickly disappeared. "I... I'm not asking you, Kacchan... I'm leaving at dawn tomorrow."
"Fucking- and you're just now telling me!?" Katsuki snapped and stepped closer. As he grabbed and yanked the Omega, Izuku flinched. Katsuki slowly released his hold, face falling as he caught a wiff of Izuku's distress in his usually sweet scent.
Izuku rubbed at his eyes before any tears could fall. "I just found out this morning... You left for your hunt yesterday... So... How exactly was I supposed to tell you sooner..?" His voice was meek. He almost sounded like he didn't want to go.
Katauki grit his teeth and looked away, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Fine. Fucking go for all I care. How long are you going to be gone?"
"I'm not sure," Izuku lowered his voice more, eyes squeezing shut as the Alpha growled.
"Then why fucking go!? I thought you were going to be my mate!? My Goddamn Queen!?"
Izuku withdrew more, starting to step back. "K-Kacchan-"
"Whatever," Katsuki hissed and stepped around the Omega. "Leave. See if I give a shit."
He left Izuku there in the courtyard, not bothering to turn back to look at him.
~
When dawn came, Katsuki ran as fast as he could the the stables when he couldn't find the Omega in his room. He bolted passed guards and servants, desperate to reach his Omega.
However, the squire said Izuku's horse was gone long before he began his day.
Katsuki was too late.
~
It's been a little more than four years since then. Katsuki rarely spends his time at the castle anymore. Busy standing with his soldiers on battlefields, busy with his hunting parties. Busy taming dragons and treking unknown lands.
However, when he heard news of his parents receiving terribe injuries, he returned home faster than he ever remembers having done.
Before he reached the palace, his mother had passed. He was brought to her body first, lain quietly in the infirmary, white sheet draped over her body.
"My father," he croaked.
The nurse bowed. "Resting, your highness."
Katsuki didn't respond, staring at the sheet. He felt... Empty. Should he be angry? Should he be torn apart by sorrow and grief?
"Your highness..."
The blond looked up as a blue haired Knight stopped in the doorway. "His Royal Majesty had declared you be crowned King upon your arrival."
"Why..? The old man ain't dead yet..."
"It's... Preparation..."
Katsuki breathed deeply and squared his shoulders. "Fine..."
~
His coronation was probably the most rushed in all of his Kingdom's history. Probably the most unattended as well, seeing as it was such short notice.
As soon as the ceremony was over, once Katsuki was named King, he went to see his father.
No grand celebration was held. Katsuki didn't want one anyway.
He sat by his father's bed, staring down at his entwined fingers.
"Katsuki..?" His father's voice rasped and he snapped his head up.
"Hey, old man," Katsuki moved closer, carefully taking the hand the reached for him. "I'm here. I'm came as soon as I could."
Masaru smiled tiredly, relaxing. "We missed you..."
"Yeah, yeah, you old sap." He patted Masaru's hand, his own smile coming to his face before he could stop it. Maybe his father would survive his injuries after all.
The previous King coughed softly and sighed. "I'm sorry... You had to return to this..."
Katsuki frowned and shifted to sit on the edge of the bed. "It wasn't your fault. Your caravan was ambushed. I'm just pissed I wasn't here... Maybe you'd be okay... Maybe mom'd be alive..."
Masaru sighed again, closing his eyes. For a second, panic began to rise in Katsuki's chest. "Son... I need to tell you something..."
"Save it. You're going to be just fine, old man."
The older Alpha chuckled, squeezing his son's hand. "I appreciate the concern, but I know... I made it through the night, so I'll... I'll likely be okay..." Sorrow returned to the old man's eyes, gaze becoming distant. Katsuki looked away. He couldn't imagine the pain his father felt.
He'd never seen anyone so terribly, deeply in love with their mate such as his father. The previous King adored his Queen, more than life itself.
That love Katsuki once thought he had himself for Izuku...
Masaru breathed deeply, his signal that he was okay to talk now. "As I was saying before..."
Katsuki grunted and moved closer.
"The Omega... Izuku... He didn't leave for an apprenticeship..."
The name alone caused Katsuki's to tense. His brows furrowed as he searched his father's face. "What do you mean..?"
Masaru shifted, pushing himself up the pillows. He groaned in slight pain, his son chiding him. "I'm fine, I'm okay..." He swatted Katsuki's hands away gently. "Katsuki... Your mother only just told me this, so I didn't know either until just a few days ago... But..." Masaru licked his lips and met his son's eyes. "Izuku didn't leave. He was banished."
Katsuki stared at his father for several long, tense moments. He snorted and and shook his head. "Funny, old man. Real funny."
"Katsuki, listen to me." Masaru's weak voice grew stern. Katsuki frowned, but didn't speak back up. "That morning... Your mother was going to the infirmary. She opened the door and heard the doctor telling Izuku that he was pregnant."
Everything came rapidly screeching to a halt- his heartbeat, his swirling thoughts, his breathing- everything. Katsuki stared wide-eyed at his father, fingers curled tight around Masaru's hand.
Masaru looked away and continued. "Your mother... Didn't want him dragging you down... Having a pup so early... So young. Long before you were ready to be King... She banished him immediately and demanded he tell you that he had an apprenticeship... Make you believe he left of his own will so you wouldn't search for him... Your mother didn't tell me or anyone else on the off chance you might find out..."
Katsuki opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. His throat was dry- so dry it hurt.
This felt so completely unreal. His father was lying, right? He had to be.
However, Masaru is no liar, and he'd have no reason to just... Make this up.
"He..." Katsuki finally choked out, the older looking back to him. Katsuki's red eyes searched honest amber. "He was pregnant..?"
Masaru hummed, patting his son's hand. "Yes..."
Tears suddenly burned Katsuki's eyes, lump forming in his throat, his heart throbbed, head reeling.
He has a pup. The Omega he loved and cherished that had suddenly left him and never returned had been pregnant with his pup and forced to leave.
His teeth grit together, tears now angry. "What did she do to him," he ground out.
Masaru looked down to the bedsheets. "I'm sorry... I do not know what she threatened him with... All I know is he was pregnant and she banished him... I don't know where he went, I don't know what she said to him, I don't know why she decided behind everyone's back to rid of the Omega..."
Katsuki dropped his father's hand and shoved himself off the bed, beginning to pace. Growls rumbled deep in his chest.
"I need to find him!" Katsuki shouted, Masaru wincing at the volume. "You have no idea where he could be..?"
Masaru shook his head slowly. "No... I'm sorry... And your mother didn't know either..."
"That fucking witch-" he spat, bristling.
"Katsuki, I didn't tell you so you'd be angry with her." Masaru reached for his son, relaxing as Katsuki took his hand. "I told you because you deserve to know... You have a pup somewhere out there..."
"Just how the hell am I supposed to find them, dad..?"
Masaru smiled softly. His son hadn't called him that in... Years, maybe. "I'm not sure, firecracker," another name not used in a very long time, "but you'll find them... I know how much that Omega meant to you... I know you two planned a future behind your mother's back... I'm so sorry your first pup was hidden from you... I'm sorry your future mate was forced away..."
Katsuki squeezed Masaru's hand, grinning widely. "I'll find them, old man. Just you wait and see."
The previous king chuckled tiredly. "Of course..."
~
Maybe he should have been looking for Izuku. If he was, maybe he would have found him by now. Maybe he'd know his pup.
He should have known Izuku wouldn't have just left him like that.
A little more than a year into searching for his lost love, there were no leads. Nothing.
It was as if Izuku vanished off the face of the planet.
The halls of the Todoroki Palace was quiet and quaint. The color theme was gentle and light. Opposite of his Kingdom's hard, bold colors.
Servants were quiet and polite as they passed the young King, bowing and muttering, "your Majesty."
Katsuki only nodded or grunted in acknowledgement. He just wanted out to see his brutish, playful, loud knights.
However, as soon as he stepped out of the palace doors, he spotted a pup across the courtyard, hands held over his chest and big eyes searching. He couldn't tell if the pup was lost or not. No one approached the pup and that itself was concerning. Maybe the pup was here often and no one paid him any mind anymore?
The King sighed and walked right passed his knights, heading straight for the pup.
His knights shouted in question but he ignored them. Katsuki approached the pup and cleared his throat.
The small pup looked up, startled. His eyes were round and iris' a violent red that reminded him of his mother. This pup clearly wasn't a sevants child, wearing clean, nice clothing a noble's child would wear. Although, the cap that pressed his curly, pale green hair down would beg to differ. The pup's skin was sunkissed, tan and freckled. Definitely a cute kid.
"You lost?"
The pup huffed and folded his arms. "No. I live here, old man."
Katsuki reeled back and sneered. Okay, not so cute. "Where's your parents, twerp?" So much for being nice.
"I'm looking for mommy. I can't find him."
The King sighed and crouched beside him. "What's your name?"
Huffing, the pup looked around the courtyard again. "I'm Tadaaki..."
"That's a good name. I'm Katsuki."
"I know," Tadaaki scoffed. "You're the King visiting Sir Shouto."
Katsuki scrunched his nose. "He's your King. You should address him as such."
Tadaaki growled at him. "You're a stranger! You can't tell me what to do! Besides, he told me to call him that! Stupid dummy!"
The King bristled and growled back. "Who're you calling stupid, brat- look..." Katsuki pinched his own nose and breathed deeply. "I'll help you find your mother, okay..?"
"I'm big. I can find mommy on my own."
"But you're just standing there, looking around..."
Tadaaki pouted and lowered his head. "I... Don't know where to look... He's not in our room, not in the infirmary..."
"Infirmary?"
"He works in there."
Katsuki raised a brow and looked to the pup's clothes again. Sure, doctors and nurses were held in high regard, but enough that their child could be mistaken for a noble..? No way. Although, the pup did say the King knows him personally and allows him to address him casually. Maybe half-and-half favors the mother?
"Okay... Do you know where else he could be..?"
Tadaaki shrugged. "He likes the horses... But I don't see him or smell him..."
"Well... What's he smell like? I have a stronger nose than you do so maybe I can smell him."
The pup hummed and tilted his head. "Like... Apple candy..."
Katsuki snorted and shrugged. He stood and sniffed the air. "Nope. No apple candy. Maybe he's still inside. Do you know his name?"
"Auntie 'Chako calls him Zuzu."
The King sighed and began walking back to the palace, pup right beside him. "What do other people call him?"
Tadaaki bobbed his head, playing with his shirt. "Well... Lots of stuff. Lots of people have funny nicknames for mommy."
"Do you remember your surname?"
"Yup! I'm Tadaaki Mid-"
"Daaki, what are you doing out here?"
"Sir Shouto!" The child bolted up the stairs and latched onto the younger King's leg. "Hi, sir!"
The King hummed and patted the pup's head. "Where's your mother?"
Tadaaki pouted and shrugged. "I can't find him, sir. King dummy said he'd help me."
"Hey!" Katsuki snapped, but both child and King ignored him.
Shouto's expression tightened and he crouched beside the pup. "What do you mean you couldn't find him? He wasn't in your room or the infirmary?"
Tadaaki shook his head. "Nope. And he wasn't with Auntie 'Chako or the horses."
The young King breathed deeply. "Okay. Let's bring you to Auntie. I'm gonna look for your mother."
"What about Dummy?"
"King Bakugou will return home."
Said King scoffed, eyes narrowing. Shouto gently shooed off the child and stood, back facing the blond.
"Hey. I said I'd help find the mother. I can help, half'n'half."
"This doesn't concern you, Bakugou." The younger looked over his shoulder.
Katsuki groaned. "I have nothing better to do, Todoroki. If someone is missing, I can help. Would the kid's father know where the mother is?"
Shouto sighed. "No father."
"He left?"
"No. They were separated."
Katsuki scowled. Like him and Izuku. Separated.
He stepped up closer. "I'm going to help find the Omega."
"If you help, I'm going to have to tell you who he is."
"I don't see the problem."
"He can't have you knowing, Bakugou. Leave my citizens to me. This isn't your responsibility." As he walked back up the stone steps, Katsuki stomped after.
"Just fucking let me help! I'm offering to help find-" he stopped abruptly. "Why can't I know..?"
Shouto slowed.
Katsuki clenched his fists. "Todoroki... Tell me..." He only got an unreadable look in response. "Is that... My pup..?"
Shouto's eyes widened and he turned fully. "You know..?"
"Yes, I fucking know!" Katsuki's voice pitched, heart already beginning to race. "Is it Deku!? Is Deku fucking missing!?"
"Bakugou, calm down," Shouto raised his hands. "He might not be missing. He could possibly be somewhere Tadaaki didn't know to search."
"I saw your face earlier, Icy-Hot..." Katsuki grit his teeth and stomped the distance between them. "There's something else. What is it? Fucking tell me!"
Shouto raised his chin. "Follow me..."
Katsuki huffed and glared, but didn't put up a fight as he followed the other King. His nose twitched as he sniffed, trying to a catch a wiff of Apple Cinnamon now that he knew his Omega was there.
He began to slow, realization settling in his chest. Once he stopped, the King ahead of him turned. Katsuki gulped, hands shaking. "That was... That was my pup..."
Shouto's gaze softened. "How long have you known..?"
"Since... My mother died..."
"Not long, then. Have you been searching since-"
"Of course!" Katsuki snapped, hardly letting the younger finish. "I've been searching this whole Goddamn time! I've just made it a priority once I found out what my bitch of a mother did!"
The younger waved a hand. "Lower your voice, Bakugou. Here, my office." He walked farther down the hall and turned before entering one of the rooms. He allowed the blond in first, then shut the door.
Katsuki folded his arms. "So what do you think happened to my mate?"
Shouto sighed and stepped over to his desk. "Firstly, Midoriya is not your mate. He is an unmated Omega." Katsuki hissed. "Secondly, he is a very sought after Omega in my kingdom."
"In what way?"
The younger ran a hand down his face and sat down. "In his time here, since he has established himself as a wonderful, well-versed doctor, many Alphas have attempted to court him. He is attractive, smart, and an attentive mother." That last one stung Katsuki a little. "Some Alphas have even tried winning Tadaaki over in an attempt to court Midoriya. Well, that's where the pup's attitude comes in. He makes snarky remarks and pisses Alpha's off so they'll stay away from him and his mother, since he can't physically fight them. It's gotten to the point he's like that with every new Alpha, even the ones without intentions to court Midoriya."
Katsuki growled, fingers digging into his biceps.
Shouto looked up at him. "My brother recently returned... He heard of my father's death and decided he wanted to come back home. He doesn't want the throne, but... He does want Midoriya." Katsuki clenched his jaw tighter. So much so it ached. "My brother is not a good man... However, I have not had grounds to banish him. Midoriya had not requested I post a guard around him, so I didn't. Midoriya is entirely capable of defending himself, but my brother... Has an 'any means necessary' philosophy..."
"So you think your brother took him?"
"I think it's a possibility if Midoriya is not in the palace."
Katsuki twitched and turned back towards the door. "So what the hell are we waiting for, huh? We need to find him instead of wasting-" he flung the door open, halting as he spotted an Omegan maid about to knock.
She blushed and bowed. "Your majesties... Terribly sorry to interrupt, but we found Midoriya."
Shouto stood. "Where?"
The Omega smiled sheepishly, hands twisting her apron. "The library..."
That was an all-too familiar image in Katsuki's mind.
The greenette huddled in a corner, blanket wrapped around his shoulders(sometimes even Katsuki's infamous cloak), and nose in a book with a candle perched nearby to light the words.
Katsuki's shoulders slumped and he was still until Shouto walked passed him.
"Are you coming?"
The blond licked his lips, mouth suddenly dry. His nerves built up. Nervous? Me? I'm not nervous... I can't be.
Slowly, almost dragging behind, Katsuki followed the younger King. They walked through the halls and up a flight of stairs before the finally reached the library. The maid opened the doors and Katsuki was hit with such a familiar, wonderful scent. He nearly fell to his knees. Only nearly.
Apple cinnamon tinted with delight and mixed with leatherbound must. A new scent was added in the mix. Katsuki recognized it as Tadaaki's. Apples and burnt sugar.
Shouto held up his hand as Katsuki stepped forward, halting him. Katsuki whipped his head and snarled to him. "You don't want to scare him off, do you..?"
Katsuki bit his tongue and kept back.
With a nod, Shouto stepped inside and descended down another set of stairs. "Midoriya?" His soft voice called into the large open space.
Little giggles and whispers could be heard, undoubtly those shared between mother and pup.
A whimper found its way out of the blond and God how he wanted to race in there. The other Kid was too far now for Katsuki to fully understand what he was saying, but could hear him speaking.
"Is it dummy!? No, dummy can't see my mommy!"
"What?"
Before Katsuki could even be offended that his own pup is still calling him 'dummy', he heard Izuku's voice loud and clear.
"Daaki, who are you talking about?"
Katsuki swallowed thickly, picking up one foot after another into the library.
"Dummy is big and tall with no shirt. Mommy, what kind of stupid-head walks around without a shirt?"
Said stupid-head looked over the railing and gripped it tight. His breath caught in his throat, tears burning in his eyes as he spotted a familiar mop of curly green hair.
Izuku sighed, stroking Tadaaki's hair back. "Pup, what did we say about mean names," he chided, setting aside the book he had been reading.
Tadaaki pouted, looking away. That's when he spotted Katsuki above them. "Hey!" He shouted, startling both his mother and Shouto. "You! Dummy! You're supposed to be going home, not trying to see my mommy!"
The Omega looked up, eyes widening and body going rigid as he saw the King. His grip on Tadaaki tightened, the pup immediately taking notice.
"Mommy, mommy, let's go back to our room, okay? Let's go read, I wanna read a book. Please, mommy, a story!" He rubbed against his mother's scent gland, arms wrapped tight around him.
Izuku swallowed and slowly lowered his pup. "Daaki... Will you stay with Todoroki..? Just for a few moments?"
Tadaaki growled, letting the King take his hand. "Are you gonna talk to big Dummy over there? Don't, mommy. Just- story? Please? Ignore him and he'll leave, like everyone else."
His mother crouched in front of him, cupping his face. "Tadaaki... I know him. He was my friend a very long time ago, before I moved here and had you."
The pup sighed and seemed to relax. "Did you ever tell him to wear a shirt like you make me?"
Shouto chuckled softly, Izuku smiling and tucking a curl behind the pup's ear. "Yes... I did... I'll see you soon, okay?"
"Promise?"
"Promise." Izuku kissed Tadaaki's forehead and sighed. He stood, watching as Shouto lead the reluctant pup away.
Katsuki gulped, fingers tightening more around the railing if possible. Izuku rubbed his arm, steeling his nerves before making his way towards the stairs. The King, however, was glued to his spot. He almost couldn't believe that Izuku was there. Right there. So close he could catch his scent as fresh and lovely as ever. He looked different. Skin darker, hips wider. He had more freckles than Katsuki remembered. His hair was also neat, cut short in the back, top swept to the side.
His heart raced as he watched the Omega approach. The Omega looked like an absolute angel.
He hoped he didn't look like shit.
Though, he most likely did.
"Hi..."
Katsuki was able to force himself to move enough to fully face the greenette. Izuku is shorter than he remembers... Or maybe he himself grew. They were only eighteen when Izuku left- no... Was banished.
"You've been here... With Todoroki this whole time..?"
Izuku licked his lips, fidgetting. "Uhm... Yes," he whispered, gaze anywhere but on the King in front of him. "I... Was almost to term with Tadaaki when he found me... He brought me back to the palace, helped me onto my feet and... A few weeks later I had Tadaaki. I told him about my experience with medicine and that I was still studying it and he gave me a job here in and palace..."
Katsuki gulped, mind completely and utterly blank. He can't think of what to ask him. What he's supposed to say with more than five years apart.
He swallowed once again. "Tadaaki..?" Oh, that wasn't exactly what he wanted to say.
"He's yours..."
"I know-" it was out before he could stop it. He wanted to slap himself. That sounded stupid- maybe even condescending.
Izuku flinched. "You know..? How..? How long..?"
"My mother told my father just a few days before she died... And he told me when I returned- when I became King."
"Oh..." Izuku wrung his hands together, still not daring to look up to the blond. "So you've known for... About a year, then..."
Katsuki looked away from the Omega. This was awkward. So awkward. He never imagined this would be so terrible.
Hold on...
The King's brows furrowed and he jerked his head back. He eyed Izuku, then a growl rumbled deep within his chest. "You knew she died..?"
Izuku seemed startled by the sudden ferocity within the Alpha's tone, cowering back. "Y-yes," he stammered out in question, finally peering up at the blond through his lashes.
Katsuki was seething, knuckles white from his grip on the railing. His scent strengthened, ash more present. The Omega whimpered and bared his neck.
"Why didn't you come back?" It was more of a demand, a statement, than it was a question.
"I-I was banished-"
"Not once my mother was dead!" Katsuki shoved off the railing and took just two large strides before he was close enough that his scent made Izuku's knees wobble. "You had an entire year to return! Why didn't you? My mother was the only one who knew of your banishment, meaning it lifted once she died!"
Izuku's lips trembled, hands over his chest and eyes squeezed shut. "I was afraid... That you would be angry if I came back with... With a pup..."
Katsuki looked down at the Omega in disbelief. His growl deepened, glare hardening. "I'm angry now that you didn't come back with my pup!" He snarled, backing Izuku against the wall.
The Omega tilted his head away, tears beginning to run down his cheeks. Katsuki pinned him there, arms caging his head.
"So what? You never planned on returning? Is that it? You were just going to stay here?"
Izuku hiccuped and nodded in affirmation.
Katsuki's teeth clacked harshly. "Basically, if my mother died before telling my father what happened, I would never have known about you? I would never have known I had a pup? Is that what you're fucking telling me!?"
"Yes!"
"Why!? Why am I not allowed to know my own fucking pup!? Why didn't you come back to me!? Why didn't you fucking tell me!?"
"Because she threatened him!"
Katsuki froze up, a shiver shooting up his spine.
Izuku sobbed, rubbing furiously at his cheeks. "Sh-she... She threatened Tadaaki... She said she'd kill him... Once he was born, while I was still pregnant- she was going to kill him... And when she died, I... I wanted to go back, but... If I went back, it... It would seem like I was lying... Like you said, she was the only one that knew I was banished..."
"I would have believed you." Katsuki set his jaw and leaned in more. "There was a reason we snuck around behind her back. I wouldn't have even questioned your return- I just wanted you home. I wouldn't have questioned Tadaaki. He's my pup and that's that. That's what mattered... The entire time I've known... Finding you and our pup has been the only thing on my mind for a year and here you are... In a neighboring, allied kingdom. This whole fucking time..."
Izuku shook like a leaf, still rubbing at the relentless tears. "K-Kacchan..."
Katsuki nearly wilted at the nickname. He nearly wrapped his Omega up in his arms, urge to croon comfortingly raging through his brain. He didn't, but he wanted to. He swallowed the croon and breathed deeply.
"Come home, Izuku... Come back to me..."
The Omega sobbed weakly, hands now just covering his eyes. "I can't..."
"Why not," Katsuki ground out, fingers curling back into fists.
"This is my home now, Kacchan... This is Tadaaki's home. I can't just- he's still so little and he's never lived anywhere else before. He's hardly even been outside the palace walls."
Katsuki's scowl deepened, eyes searching the Omega's face. "So... Now that I've found you... Now that I've finally met my pup, now that you know you can finally go back... Just... No? That's it?"
"It's more complicated than that-" Izuku cut off and flinched back as Katsuki snapped.
"No it fucking isn't! We planned a future together! You were supposed to be my queen- my mate! You leave, I find out we have a pup and I'm just supposed to not want what we planned out!? Not want our fucking family!? I'm just supposed to fucking leave you here!?"
"You're not being fair!"
"Oh, I'm not being fair!?" Katsuki pushed off the wall. "Now who's the one keeping me from my own fucking son? Not my bitch of a mother, she's fucking dead. I've been trying to bring you back home... I've been trying to regain that future we both wanted so badly... And you've been here... With our pup... Happy and content to never see me again. Did you ever try? You said you wanted to, but did you try? Did you ever put effort into seeing me again? Into letting me know I had a son?"
Izuku's soft crying was all the answer he needed.
Katsuki looked away, fists at his side. "Fine... Fuck you..." He turned and shoved the library door open. He stormed down the hall, leaving the Omega there.
The King headed straight back to the courtyard, sun already setting.
His knights scrambled to their feet and saluted quickly, the redhead holding up Katsuki's reins.
"What the hell happened?" Eijirou asked, expression as curious and bright as ever.
"None of your Goddamn business," Katsuki hissed back, checking his knapsacks before bringing the reins over his steed's head. He grabbed the pommel and seat and-
"Auntie 'Chako, look! That's the dummy with no shirt!"
Katsuki froze before he could mount. He looked up to a nearby balcony, spotting a young brunette woman standing beside the pup. Tadaaki pointed through the stone railing, grinning as if he'd won some kind of prize.
"Finally going home, dummy!?" The pup shouted, bouncing giddily. The woman beside him chided him, but the pup ignored her.
Tears stung Katsuki's eyes as he stared at his son. His son. He's standing right up there. So close, yet so, so fucking far. His gut tightened painfully.
The pain became worse as Izuku stepped onto the balcony. The sun caught in his hair, the shine almost blinding. He swept up their son and scented him.
Izuku's cheeks were still blotched red from the crying, but Katsuki was able to picture them happier. Waving goodbye as he left on a hunting trip. Greeting him when he'd return from battle. Smiling, so happy to see him every time.
When the Omega looked down at him, Katsuki ripped his gaze away. He forced himself out of his dangerous imagination and lifted himself onto his steed.
Without a word, he lead his steed out. His knights followed on their mounts. Katsuki bit the inside of his cheek, steeling his eyes forward, refusing to look back. If he looks back, it could be very... Very dangerous...
~
Once returning to his palace, Katsuki just didn't feel right. Nothing felt right. It was all so wrong, but everything appeared normal.
He handed off his horse, he walked up the stone steps to the open palace doors where his father stood to greet him.
However, his father noticed something was wrong instantly. He met his son halfway down the stairs. "Katsuki, what is it? Did something happen? Are you okay?" His voice was soft and gentle- very un-Alpha like.
Katsuki slowed to a stop, grounded by his father's light touch on his arm. He met his father's eyes. "I found him... I found both of them..."
Masaru breathed deeply. "Oh... I'm... I'm sorry, son, I-"
"They're not dead," Katsuki cut in and continued walking. Masaru watched after him. "He just doesn't want to come back to me."
The previous King doesn't think he's ever heard his son so defeated.
~
Katsuki attempted to get his life back on track. He spent his days in his office or on the training field. He didn't usually fall asleep in his own room anymore. The servants would find him passed out in his office chair or draped across the sofa in there.
He wasn't loud. He didn't snap, he didn't push. His entire Kingdom became worried with their King's sudden loss of ferocity.
Their young King was known for growling and snapping simply because he could. He was quick to anger, though everyone knew he was kind and gentle at heart. Tough exterior, and all.
Now he was a hollow man. Going through his days quietly. Monotonous.
Some days he seemed more distant than others.
"Your majesty?" A quiet knock sounded on his door, snapping his out of his half-sleep.
He yawned as the door opened, stretching his arms above his head. "Mina... What is it..?"
The pinkette bowed. "You have visitors, your majesty."
Katsuki sighed, slumping back in his chair. "Visitors? So early?" He rubbed his face, looking out his window to see the sun just barely above the horizon. "Alright... Where are they?"
"Kirishima has escorted them to the throne room," she answered, watching her King push himself up and saunter over. For weeks, she's seen him like this, and still she'd hoped he'd bounce back to his old self.
"Alright," he hummed, hands in his pockets. They walked side-by-side through the palace.
Katsuki usually hated that the throne room was so far from all the places he liked to be, but the walk at this time was good. He relaxed during the walk, reveling in the sun as it warmed him up through the windows.
However, as soon as he saw the throne room doors, he halted. He sniffed once- twice to be sure.
"Your majesty?"
The Alpha grit his teeth, hurt and anguish returning fast enough to give anyone whiplash.
Apples and cinnamon and burnt sugar.
Why is he here?
He stormed the last several feet to the door and forced it open before the guards standing by could do it for him. A growl rose in his throat, then caught as he spotted the greenette.
Izuku stood by the throne, hand on the arm rests as he turned quickly, startled by the soors opening.
Katsuki glanced around the room, but didn't see the pup. His scent must just be lingering on the Omega.
"Kacchan..."
The Alpha's eyes snapped back to Izuku and narrowed. His growl returned and he stepped in. The doors shut behind him, leaving them alone once again.
There was a time where all he wanted was to be alone with the Omega.
"What the fuck are you doing here?"
Izuku rubbed his arm, but kept his eyes on Katsuki. "I wanted... To see you."
Scoffing, Katsuki shoved his hands back in his pockets. "Oh, really? Wanted to see me? That it? That the only reason?" His anger boiled back. "If that's all it took for you to come back, then what the hell did you want the last year, huh? I thought you said you wanted to see me then, too?"
The Omega flinched and looked away. "You... You were right, Kacchan."
"Don't call me that," Katsuki hissed and stomped his way across the room.
Izuku gasped and backed up, fear escaping into his scent.
However, Katsuki dropped himself right into his throne and just glared at the greenette. "You lost the right to call me that."
The Omega breathed deeply, lip trembling. Tears were already filling his eyes. "Kacch-" Katsuki snarled, scent strengthening. "Katsuki..."
The King leaned forward, growl deep. "I am the King... You'll address me as such..."
Izuku suddered and dropped his head. He bit back whimpers, shoulders shaking. "Y-your majesty, then... I... You were right... I was the one being unfair to you..."
Katsuki huffed and leaned back. He looked out the window, towards the rising sun.
"Your mother wasn't the only one that kept Tadaaki away... I hid him from you, too... I could have returned and I didn't... I stayed... I got comfortable with King Todoroki and I... I never let myself even think I could return to you... Even after your mother's death..." Izuku's voice broke and he held himself tightly. "I'm sorry..."
The King hummed, acknowledging him. His gaze didn't pull away from the window, though.
Izuku licked his lips and took a step closer. "Please... Say something..."
"Like what?"
"Anything..."
Scoffing, Katsuki sat up straighter. "Well, I can't say that I forgive you. That'd be a damn lie." Izuku shrunk back. "What do you want me to say, huh? How were you hoping this conversation to go?"
The Omega gulped. "I... I wanted to apologize... I realized how I was in the wrong for not bringing Tadaaki here... For not letting you know him..."
Katsuki pinched his eyes shut, fighting the tears burning his eyes. He can't cry. Not now. "I never had a choice." Izuku looked up to the King. "I was never given the chance. You... You were sent away... Which wasn't fair to you, but you still had him. I had nothing. I had no say in you leaving I had no fucking idea I had a pup until my mother died and he was already nearly four years old. I searched mountains, plains and kingdoms for you... And still had nothing... You chose to stay. You chose to keep him secret from me. Then I found you and chose to continue keeping him from me."
"He's here now-"
"So now you just change your mind and everything's alright!?" Katsuki snapped and bolted upright. Izuku gasped and jumped back as Katsuki towered over him. "I thought that over with Todoroki was your home!? His home!? That's what you said! So what changed after I left!?"
Izuku sobbed and trembled, one hand wiping away at his tears. Katsuki then realized his own tears were tracking down his face.
The Omega hiccuped softly. "Y-you're right," he stuttered, voice weak. "I kept him from you... Kept your chance at knowing him from you... I-I was selfish staying with Todoroki because I was worried about how you would react... I should have given you... A chance..."
Katsuki sighed and rubbed his face. "Just... Just go... Go back to Todoroki..." He ached. He was bone tired and he hurt everywhere.
Izuku's face twisted slightly in confusion. "But... Don't you want to see him?"
Growling, Katsuki faced the greenette once again. "Fucking of course I do! But you don't want to be here! You didn't want me knowing! You were the one who said that place is both yours and his home! So just fucking leave-!"
"Mommy!"
The doors opened and both Alpha and Omega startled.
Tadaaki bolted across the carpet, crashing into Izuku's legs. "Mommy! You were in here too long!"
Katsuki clenched his jaw, turning away when Izuku looked up at him. "Go," was all his said in a tired, defeated whisper before walking out.
The pup whined, pulling on Izuku. His mother crouched in front of him, running his shaky fingers through Tadaaki's curly hair.
Frowning, Tadaaki placed his hands on Izuku's cheeks. "Mommy, he made you cry. What did dummy do? I'll go kick him-"
"No, no-" Izuku grabbed Tadaaki's hands before the little pup could run after the King. "No, Daaki, it's okay... I was the one who made him sad..."
Tadaaki tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
Izuku pursed his lips, fixing Tadaaki's clothing. "I... I hurt him very badly, Daaki. I don't think he'll ever forgive me," he admitted softly, managing a weak, wobbly smile for his son.
"But you said we should always forgive people... And you're so nice. No one could ever be mad at you." Tadaaki sounded so sure.
The Omega huffed a small little laugh. "Oh, Daaki..." He sighed and placed a kiss to the boy's temple. "Daaki... He loved me... A lot. We wanted to get married someday... He loved me so much that he gave me you..."
Tadaaki pouted, puzzled. "What do you mean, mommy..?"
"The King is your father, Daaki," Izuku whispered, stroking his hair. "He helped me make you..."
The pup whimpered, fingers curling into his shirt. "He's my daddy..?" Izuku nodded. "But... I didn't have a daddy..?"
"Of course you do, sweetheart. Everyone has a daddy. Yours... He's so very upset because he didn't know we made you..."
"How come..?"
Izuku licked his lips. "His momma... The last Queen, found out you were in my tummy... And she got very angry... She didn't want him to know and sent me away... But then she died a year ago, and I didn't come back. I didn't tell your father about you myself..."
Tears welled up in the pup's eyes and he pushed away from his mother. Izuku reached back out to him, crooning and making his scent soft and comforting, but Tadaaki hissed and snapped his jaws.
"No!" He shrieked, startling his mother. "No, no! Why didn't you tell him!? Why not me!? I wanted a daddy! All my friends have daddies except me!"
"Daaki, I-"
"You should have come back!" Tadaaki stomped and hissed at his mother. "I could have a daddy! You could have someone to keep mean Alphas away from you!"
Izuku's scent soured in distress as he tried reaching for his pup again. "Daaki, please," he pleaded. "We have to go back, now..."
Tadaaki's eyes widened. "No! We're leaving!? No, I don't want to!"
"We have to-"
"No! No, I have a daddy, now! I don't want to go!" He back away more, distress thick in the air from the both of them.
Izuku cried. "Tadaaki, please don't make this harder- Tadaaki!"
The pup bolted away as soon as the throne room doors opened again. Izuku scrambled to his feet and ran after him. "Tadaaki, wait!"
Tadaaki ran as fast as he could, following Katsuki's scent. A few times he got, lost, the hallways large and unfamiliar. He isn't sure where he lost his mother or how far back, but he didn't care.
He whimpered as he stretched to reach a too-high doorknob, then pushed open the door. It was an office that smelled heavily of Katsuki. Smokey cedar and burnt sugar. He smelled kind of homey.
The door clicked shut behind him, making him jump and turn.
He pouted and shuffled more into the office. Tadaaki liked Katsuki's scent as it washed over him. It was warm. Wonderful. Tadaaki suddenly wished he had that scent more often.
Tadaaki pulled himself onto the sofa and curled up. His father's scent was strongest there. A soft smell that almost made him sleepy.
The door creaking open made him curl up more. An unfamiliar scent of damp earth and campfires drifted into the room. A redheaded Alpha crouched down by the sofa, tilting his head as he looked down to the pup.
"Hey, little man. You ran pretty fast, huh?" Tadaaki didn't answer, but kept his eyes on the man. The redhead chuckled. "My name is Kirishima, but you can call me Kiri. You know, your mom is really worried. He's looking for you."
"I don't want him," Tadaaki growled, causing Eijirou to frown. "I want my daddy. I want to see him."
"You know he's your dad..?"
"Mommy just told me... He said that I was a secret from daddy and that's mean... I wanted a daddy and daddy wanted me..."
Eijirou sighed, holding up his hand. "I know where he is." Tadaaki perked up. "I'll take you to him."
The pup stared at him, assessing him for a few moments before sliding off the sofa and taking the knight's hand. Eijirou stood back up and walked out with him.
"You're not taking me to mommy, are you..?"
"Honestly, I'm not sure where he is. We separated to look for you."
Tadaaki hummed, looking around.
He liked this place. It was so big. There was so much to explore. He liked the red. It was like his eyes. He liked that he could see dragons out the windows. There weren't dragons with Sir Shouto. Not many, anyway.
When they stepped outside, a whirlwind of scents flooded his nose. Tadaaki looked around wide-eyed at all the soldiers on the training field.
Eijirou lead him around the yard, then crouched beside him. "See him?" He asked softly, pointing down the hill.
Tadaaki gasped once he spotted the King, his blade glinting in the light as he sparred with a blue haired knight. He shrieked and ran towards him, startling most people on the field.
Katsuki spun around, just in time for Tadaaki to crash into his legs. "What-!?"
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
"Tadaaki..?" Katsuki let Tenya snatch the blade out of his hand. "What..?" He gently pried the pup off his legs to crouch.
"No!" Tadaaki gasped and struggled as he was pushed away, promptly throwing his arms around Katsuki's neck once he was low enough. "I want to stay! I want to stay here with you!"
Katsuki swallowed, looking up to Eijirou. The redhead shrugged. The King slowly brought his hands up, wrapping the pup in his arms. "Tadaaki..."
Tadaaki cried into the fur on his cloak. "I'm sorry for calling you a dummy or a stupid-head... I didn't know..." He sniffled, pressing close to the Alpha's scent gland.
"Didn't know what..?" Katsuki gently rubbed up and down Tadaaki's back, glancing to his knights as Tenya and Eijirou ushered the others away.
"You are my daddy..." Tadaaki pulled back, rubbing his face. "I... I wanted my daddy... Mommy never told me about you... Just that you loved us very much..."
Katsuki sighed and brushed his thumbs under Tadaaki's puffy eyes. "Tadaaki... Where's your mother..? Why aren't you with him?"
The pup growled softly. "I don't want to see him! He lied to me! He hid me! I was a secret and you aren't supposed to keep secrets!"
"Hey, settle down-"
"You didn't know me and that's not fair! You looked for me, right!? This is my home, right!?"
Katsuki frowned deeper, getting down onto his knees. "Tadaaki... Yes, I did look for you, but your home is with your mother," he answered softly.
Tadaaki shook his head. "No! No, no, I want a daddy! Don't you want me, too?"
"Of course I do..." Katsuki began to shake, pursing his lips. "Of course I want you, Tadaaki... I want you here with me, I want to know you, but you need to go back with your mother. You need to go back home."
Tadaaki sobbed, rubbing his eyes. "He can go back by himself!"
The King breathed deeply and leaned forward enough he could rest his forehead against the pup's. "Tadaaki, listen to me... I love you and your mother very much. Yes, I want you here with me so badly, but that doesn't matter... Your home isn't here anymore. Your home is with your mother where you both are happy. Yes, I'm hurt, I'm sad, but... I can't take care of you on my own... I don't know anything about you...
"I don't know your favorite food or drink. I don't know what you like to do for fun. I don't know who your friends are or how many you have. I don't know what clothes you like to wear..." He swallowed the lump in his throat and pet back Tadaaki's unruly hair. "I don't know what song your mother sings to you when you have a bad dream... I don't know what stories you like to read..."
The pup hiccuped and cried, trembling. This was such a difference from the snarky pup Katsuki had first met.
Katsuki sucked in another shuddering breath. "Besides... You don't know me very well, either..."
"Yes I do," Tadaaki countered and Katsuki smiled. "You're loud... And... You call people names, like me... And you don't get mad at me when I call you dummy or stupid-head. And you looked for me and mommy for a very long time because you love us..."
The King sighed, lifting his head as he heard a distant sob.
Izuku stood not too far off, Eijirou and Masaru just behind him. His eyes were red and puffy, hands over his mouth. He must have heard most - if not all - of what they both said.
Katsuki looked back down to the pup. His pup. "Tadaaki... It's time for you to go."
"No!" Tadaaki shouted and grabbed back onto him. "No, I don't want to!"
"Tadaaki, listen... Please..." The pup quieted, lip trembling. "I'll visit you, okay..? As much as I can... I'll miss you a lot, but it's time for you to go back home." Katsuki tilted his head up to kiss Tadaaki's curls. "You be brave for me, little Alpha... Stay close to your mother, alright..?"
Tadaaki hiccuped and whimpered, but nodded slowly.
Katsuki smiled softly, pressing his nose into his pup's soft curls. "Good boy... Go on now..."
"Will you visit soon..?"
"As soon as I can... And I'll try to remember to bring you a present... But you can only have it if you've been good..." He pulled away and gently nudged the pup.
Tadaaki rubbed his nose. "Okay... I'll be good."
Katsuki hummed softly and ushered to pup on.
The five-year-old shuffled back to his mother, glancing over his shoulder to the King. Katsuki would wave him on, still on one knee, until Tadaaki finally reached his mother.
Izuku lifted Tadaaki into his arms and scented him, holding him tightly. "Time to go, Daaki..."
Katsuki raised himself to both feet as Eijirou walked away with his pup and the pup's mother.
Masaru approached him, placing an understanding hand on his son's shoulder. "I'm proud of you... I can't imagine how hard that must have been..."
The King swallowed, still fighting back a barrage of tears. "That was the hardest thing I've ever had to do..."
Tadaaki waved to him behind Izuku's back. Katsuki didn't realize his heart could possibly break even more. He waved back to the pup, swallowing as he realized Izuku looked back to him as well.
The Omega paused, their eyes connecting briefly. Izuku broke the contact and disappeared with Tadaaki around the corner.
Masaru sighed, watching Katsuki's arm fall limply by his side. "Alright, son... Let's go inside..."
Katsuki wasn't sure if he felt too much or nothing at all. He was just blank as his father lead him back into the palace.
~
Katsuki sighed, hand in his hair as he reread the parchment lain before him.
Exhausted, the King realized he hadn't slept a wink as the sun lit of the office from behind him.
He looked to the old sofa, chest tightening as he caught a faint wiff of Tadaaki's scent.
"No, you can't go in there-"
"Don't disturb the King-!"
Katsuki furrowed his brows and looked to his door as he heard his knights shouting. Is someone here?
As soon as he thought that, his door swung open hard enough it hit the wall. Izuku stood in the doorway, panting softlt with his hair and clothes disheveled, cheeks pink.
Mina and Denki rushed up behind and began to grab him.
"So sorry your majesty-"
"Let me go-"
"We tried to grab him, but he just-"
"I need to talk-"
"He just ran through!"
"He's fast, sire!"
"I just need to talk-"
"Let him go."
The three in the doorway halted and looked to the King. Katsuki leaned back and waved a hand. "Kaminari, Mina, go on. Stand outside, don't let anyone in until we're done."
Both knights were frozen for a few more moments. When Katsuki raised a brow, they fumbled and released the Omega. Izuku huffed and stepped inside, watching as they closed the door.
Katsuki folded his hands over his abdomen, eyes on the greenette. "Shouldn't you be going home..?"
Izuku sighed, eyes drifting down to the foor before he turned to face the blond. "I just... I need you to hear me out..."
"That hadn't gone well the last two times, Izuku."
The Omega swallowed and nodded. "That... That's true..."
"Well, are you going to talk?" Katsuki sighed and stood.
Izuku shifted his weight. "I came... I came to stay, Kacc- your majesty... I didn't just come for a visit, I came with the intention of staying here..."
Katsuki grit his teeth, biting back a growl.
The Omega notice the rising anger in the Alpha and bowed his head. "I realize how unfair I was... I know I've broken your trust in me and I hurt you so terribly... So I don't expect you to forgive me, but you deserve-" His voice broke off and he paused to inhale deeply. "You deserve to know Tadaaki... You deserve to have him in your life... And Tadaaki needs his father... So please... Let us stay. Not for me. I'm not asking for your forgiveness... Let us stay so Tadaaki can have his father. Let us stay so you can know your pup..."
Katsuki leaned forward, hands splaying out over his desk. "I'd never send my son away. I'd never abandon him."
"I didn't say you would."
The King's eyes narrowed as he looked the Omega up and down. He still trembled, but he stood taller than he had the previous two times. Katsuki could see the determination in Izuku's eyes.
Like hell he was going to turn down keeping his son close. He wasn't going to let either of them go again.
"I'll have the servants prepare you a room near mine."
Izuku seemed to startle at the quick response, eyes big.
Katsuki sat back down, grabbing the parchment again. "You and Tadaaki shared a room when you lived with half'n'half so I imagine that's what you two would like here. Someday we can transition so you two can have separate rooms. I'll find tutors for Tadaaki, too. You'll of course have a say in what he learns and his daily schedule."
"Really..?"
"Yes, you're still his mother."
"No, that's not-" Izuku shook his head and stepped closer. "You're really okay with us living here..? So close? Just like that?"
"Yes, just like that," Katsuki growled, letting the parchment fall right back to the table. "I've been trying to bring you and Tadaaki home for more than a year, I'm not going to fucking kick you out because I'm pissed off."
"Right..." Izuku licked his lips and looked to the side.
Katsuki ran a hand down his face. "Where is he?" His voice was soft as he asked.
Izuku hummed. "He's outside in the carriage with my friend Ochako..."
The King nodded. "Did you two eat..?"
"Oh, uhm... No, not yet."
Katsuki nodded and stood. He walked around his desk and passed Izuku. He opened the door and nearly smirked as both the guards jumped. "Go tell the kitchen to make breakfast for my pup and his mother. Now."
Mina saluted and dashed down the hall.
Denki snapped his mouth shut as Katsuki then turned to him.
"Get some servants started on a room for them as well. Make sure it's near mine. I want to be close to my pup."
"Yes, your majesty!" Denki saluted very poorly and ran after Mina.
Izuku stepped up closer to Katsuki. "Your majesty-"
"You aren't forgiven," Katsuki muttered, not looking back. "This is all for Tadaaki..."
~
When the doors to the Palace opened and Katsuki and Izuku began to descend the stairs, Tadaaki shrieked from inside the carriage. He pushed open the door and jumped out, running over to meet them.
"Can we stay, can we stay!?" He gasped, heading straight for Katsuki.
The King crouched down to Tadaaki's level with a hum. "I don't know. Will you be good?"
Tadaaki nodded so quickly, Katsuki almost worried he'd get whiplash. That was a very Izuku motion.
Katsuki smiled and ruffled Tadaaki's hair. The pup giggled, swatting at his hand. Katsuki's chest filled with warmth. "Yes, you can stay." Tadaaki gasped and clapped twice before grabbing onto Katsuki. He chuckled and wrapped his arms around the boy as he stood. He nearly sagged as he realized this was the first time he's ever held his pup. "I have people setting up a room for you and your mom. And guess what else?"
"What?" Tadaaki pulled back, hands on Katsuki's face with his own eyes big and sparkling. "What else?"
"I also have breakfast ready for you."
"Whoa!" Tadaaki gasped, grinning bright. He definitely had Izuku's smile. "That's so cool! How did you know I was hungry?"
Katsuki shrugged as he walked back up the stairs and into the palace. "I just knew. I'm that smart."
Tadaaki snorted. "Not smart enough to put on a shirt," he teased, patting Katsuki's bare chest.
The blond huffed. "I'm a King. If I don't want to wear a shirt, I won't."
The pup suddenly looked very concentrated. His little fingers curled into the fluff of Katsuki's cloak, eyes narrowed and lips in a pout.
Katsuki raised a brow.
Izuku took larger steps to catch up and reached up to Tadaaki. "What is it, Daaki? Is something wrong?"
Tadaaki's nose scrunched. "So... You're a King... And my daddy, right?" Katsuki nodded, adjusting him slightly. "So... Am I a prince..?"
"Yeah, I guess you are. Is that okay?" Katsuki halted as the guards opened the doors to the dining room.
The pup pooched his lips, playing with the fluff in his hands. "Yeah. I guess so."
Katsuki chuckled and sat him down.
Tadaaki shifted in his seat, hands on the table. He leaned over to Izuku as his mother sat, waving to him.
"Oh," Izuku leaned over, smiling as Tadaaki cupped his hands around his mouth to whisper.
"My friends are gonna be so jealous! I'm a real prince!"
Katsuki bit back a laugh and waved in the servants. He sat at the head of the table.
"Pretty cool, huh?"
"Mommy, I was telling you a secret! You have to be quiet!"
Izuku laughed, petting Tadaaki's hair back. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize."
"I thought secrets were bad, Tadaaki?" Katsuki rested his chin in his palm.
Tadaaki looked back to Katsuki, then tilted his head. "Yeah, you're right. I did say that. Hm, well, it wasn't a big secret. Maybe I'll tell you."
Katsuki smiled. "I think I'd like to hear it."
~
Tadaaki did his very best to keep up with Katsuki as he followed the King throughout the palace. Katsuki even shortened his strides and the pup still struggled a bit.
Katsuki loved this. He swore he fell more in love with the pup each day. He nearly fell over laughing when Tadaaki snarked off to Tenya.
"Young prince, you shouldn't stand on the table," Tenya had said, hands out as he reached for the pup.
"Nope, I want up here!"
"Sire, you must come down so the table can be cleaned and set for dinner."
"Uh-uh! How about you clean those ugly glasses off your stupid face?"
Katsuki choked on his own laugh. Izuku was mortified.
Although it was definitely the highlight of Katsuki's day, Tadaaki had been in a lot of trouble for that.
However, it's now been several months since Izuku has returned to his life, and Katsuki still... Struggled.
Some days, Katsuki reveled in having them near. He'd hold his son and play with him, all the while stealing glances to the Omega. He'd admire him while Izuku wasn't looking and be as close as he could without seeming strange. Katsuki wanted him closer. He wanted to hold him, kiss him. He wanted to coat the Omega in his scent and have the favor returned. Katsuki wanted Izuku in his bed, just holding him close and having his scent to lull him to sleep.
Then, the other days, where Katsuki remembered that Izuku didn't want to return to him. These days he could hardly look at the greenette. He'd feel the betrayal sharp like a knife to his gut.
Those days prevented Katsuki from attempting to re-court the Omega.
Re-courting doesn't really sound like an actual thing... Katsuki narrowed his eyes, thoughts too busy for him to focus on the parchment in his hand.
"Daddy?"
The King blinked and shook his head. "Hey, pup. I didn't hear you come in." He sat back, helping Tadaaki into his lap.
Tadaaki hummed, looking down. "I've been thinking..."
"Sounds dangerous."
The pup huffed, crossing his arms. "Just... Why does mommy call you 'your majesty?'"
Katsuki sighed and rubbed Tadaaki's back. "Well... I told him, too," he answered simply, sort of hoping the pup would leave it at that.
However, the pup was too curious. That being a trait he inherited from his mother or simply just because he's still a young pup, Katsuki wasn't sure. "Why?"
The King breathed deeply, fixing the pup's jacket. "Your mom used to call me by a nickname... He'd never say my name, just the nickname... But when he brought you back here and he called me that nickname, I was hurting. The nickname reminded me how much he loved me all that time ago, and how much I loved him." He hoped he didn't confuse the pup.
Tadaaki looked down in thought. "That's sad..." Katsuki chuckled and shrugged. "You loved mommy a lot, huh?"
"Yeah, I did..."
"Well..." Tadaaki played wifh the hem of his jacket. "Mommy never told me about you... Except when I asked."
"What would he say?"
"He said..." Tadaaki's brows furrowed as he thought back, trying to remember. "He said that you loved us very much... And... That he loved you a lot... And he missed you. But he never said anythibg else... Oh, wait! He said you were very brave!" Tadaaki grinned wide, looking back up to Katsuki.
The King smiled and pet his hair back. "He said all that..?"
Tadaaki nodded quickly and curled up in Katsuki's lap.
Katsuki hummed happily and held him close, resting his chin on Tadaaki's head. He swayed slowly with the pup, rubbing his back.
"What was the nickname?"
"Hm..?"
"The nickname. The one you said mommy, called you before."
The King sighed. "Your mother is the only one allowed to call me by that name..."
Tadaaki pouted, but didn't push. They stayed like that, quiet and content, until Izuku came in and took Tadaaki for his first tutoring session.
~
"Your majesty..."
Katsuki's head jerked up, snorting as he was startled out of his doze.
Izuku stood beside him, hand on his shoulder to gently shake him awake. "Your majesty, it's late. You should be getting to sleep..."
The Alpha blinked slowly and looked around the room. The only light was the dying candles illuminating his desk. He turned to glare out the windiw behind them. Heavy clouds blocked the moon and stars.
"Let's get you to bed..."
Katsuki huffed as Izuku undid the clasp on his cloak and draped the fabric over his chair. He let Izuku grab his arm and stood. "I'll just sleep in here," he muttered, voice husky and deep with sleep. He started pulling towards the sofa, but Izuku pusjed him away.
"Absolutely not, you're going to your bed. You keep sleeping there and your neck and back are going to be ruined." The Omega lead Katsuki towards the open office door and away from his usual sleeping place.
Groaning, the King just gave in.
Izuku looked up to him. "Besides, how can you think that sofa can be any kind of comfortable? It's been there longer than we have."
Katsuki huffed out a chuckle, tired smile raising his lips. "It's convenient..."
The Omega rolled his eyes and shook his head.
Sighing, the King leaned into Izuku more. "How was Tadaaki today..? I didn't get to see much of him..."
Izuku purred, keeping his eyes ahead. "He was good. His tutors are pleased with him and he didn't insult anyone today."
Katsuki snorted and laughed.
"It's not very funny, your majesty," the greenette muttered, though he had a small smile. "He shouldn't be insulting anyone ever."
"He's my kid. He's going to have some attitude."
Izuku just hummed and they were quiet until they finally reached Katsuki's bedroom.
Katsuki had been leaning into Izuku's scent and hadn't realized it until they came to a stop. He raised his head and looked around.
"Here we are..." Izuku pushed open the door and lead the King inside. "Don't forget your boots."
The blond huffed and grumbled and he toed off his boots, kicking them to the side.
"And into bed, your majesty." Izuku took a step back, releasing Katsuki. "I'll see you in the morning..."
Katsuki frowned, staring down at his bed. He didn't like the emptiness that filled him, the coldness on his arm when the Omega let go.
As Izuku turned to leave, Katsuki grabbed his wrist. Startled, he looked back to the King. "Your majesty..?"
The Alpha pulled him close and he turned, releasing his wrist just to bring his hands up to Izuku's neck.
The Omega stared up at the King, green eyes big and unsure.
Katsuki gazed down at him, eyes lidded with sleep. He took in the Omega in the dim light, moon peeking out of the clouds finally to cast a silvery glow over the both of them. His thumbs brushed along Izuku's defined jaw, eyes tracing over his freckles. He sighed and slouched forward, resting their foreheads together. He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. Izuku's scent flooded his lungs and filled him with a warmth he's not sure he's felt in so, so long.
Izuku took his wrists, but didn't push him away. "Your Majesty? Is something wrong..?"
"Just," Katsuki sighed, brows pinching together. "Say... Say my name..."
A tense moment of silence hung in the air until Izuku relaxed and smiled. "Kacchan..?" He said it in a question, as if he wasn't sure that's what the King wanted.
Katsuki wanted to melt into Izuku right then. He wanted to fall to his knees and praise him. He wanted to drag Izuku into the bed and finally claim him as his mate after waiting for far too long. Katsuki wanted to just hold him in the moonlight and whisper to him just how much he loved him.
However, he didn't do any of those things.
Instead, he tilted his head until their noses grazed. Their breaths mingled between them, both waiting for the other.
Katsuki was an impatient man, though. He pressed forward, lips eagerly meshing with Izuku's.
Izuku returned the kiss easily, pressing his body flush into Katsuki's.
When Katsuki pulled back, he licked his lips for the lingering taste of Izuku. As he opened his eyes, looking to the flushed Omega before him, he was reminded of their first kiss.
Fifteen years old, newly in love, sneaking out of the palace late at night. Waning moon high in the sky, Katsuki had been mesmerized by the stunning Omega. He didn't think then that Izuku could ever be more beautiful. They sat under their favorite tree - still standing tall and lovingly tended to by Katsuki himself - chatting away about their day. Katsuki had been so nervous he felt like he could throw up. He talked himself up in his head as he watched the Omega chatter on excitedly, then grabbed his face mid-sentence. Izuku had been confused - rightfully so - but had easily melted into the sloppy, inexperienced, and actually kind of painful kiss. Too rough, too exploratory, but neither knowing enough to fix it.
This kiss was nothing like then, so Katsuki wasn't quite sure why this reminded him of it.
"I should go back to my room," Izuku whispered softly, thumbs brushing back and forth over Katsuki's hands.
Katsuki met his gaze, quiet for a few moments longer. He swallowed and pulled away completely. "Right... Goodnight, Izuku..."
The Omega bowed his head. "Goodnight, your majesty..."
The King twitched and grabbed Izuku's wrist once again as, once again, the Omega turned to leave. He gulped as green eyes returned to him, curious. He pursed his lips and looked away. His grip slackened, then fell away. "Just... My name is fine..."
Izuku smiled and nodded. "Alright... Goodnight, Kacchan."
Katsuki watched Izuku leave, unmoving even after his door was shut and he was left alone.
His hand came up, fingers lightly brushing over his lips as he could still feel Izuku's. He sighed and closed his eyes, lowering himself onto his bed.

Y'all this isn't what I originally had in mind XD
The reunion was going to be happier, but thrn I was like... Spice!
But, I had gotten the idea from a different fic. A lot of their fic just didn't seem realistic to me(but how realistic can a Fantasy!Omegaverse! Bakudeku get?) And so I wanted to write some of it myself, and... Well...
Here you go!
