Chapter 49

"Poisoned?!" the twins exclaimed in unison. "Somehow?" Tyrell added onto the end. They were astounded. The two fo them had thought she had fallen down the stairs or something, it seemed so unlikely something like this would happen. Tyrell was rather shocked that the doctor didn't seem to know how she was poisoned. Then again ti's not a very common occurrence, . he seemed to believe that she didn't do this on purpose. "What was she poisoned with?"

Dr.Steeler stammered a little bit as he cleared his throat again. "We don't' exactly know." He decided not to sugar coat it. "This is one of the most unusual things we have ever seen. Though it doesn't seem to have a long lasting effect, we must keep her in for a few days. To ensure her safety. In the meantime your parents-"

"Okay hold up-" Kelso lost all formality at this point, anger and sadness clouding her judgement. "For one we'd rather sleep on the pavement or in a cell than sleep with our parents. Make of that what you will." Her bluntness took Dr.Steeler by surprise. "We have a place to stay." Her words were sharp with persistence. "But how do you not know what she was poisoned with?"

"It's uh-quite simple but..." Dr.Steeler ran his hand down his face and rubbed at his eyes. It was clear that he was under a lot of stress and wasn't expecting them to have so many questions, he expected to be dealing with very upset children who took the information in stride. He thought that there would be tears and sobbing, nto questioning. "It is a forign poison, we cannot identify what it is. It has never been seen before."

"Well hen how did she-" Tyrell started to question as he wrapped his arm around his sister. Though he got interrupted by Addamak Whose voice was grim yet somewhat pleasant, the small voice of reason for the two.

"Doctor,I'm Afraid the twins have had an exhausting day," He gave a polite smile and head nod. "We should let you get back to your work, please keep us updated." he ushered the twins to get up . "If you wouldn't mind, please do not inform the twins' parents that we have been here, it would be highly appreciated."

"But that's against the-"

"It would be very highly appreciated." Addamak put emphasis on the word 'very'. There seemed to be a small glimmer of understanding between him and the doctor. It wasn't the first time the doctor had interactions like this between children and adults. He sighed but made a note of it, something to watch out for and perhaps question further into the future. It didn't seem like the children were in immediate danger. "Have a good day, do not forget to keep us well-informed." Though it sounded like a threat , it was still rather comforting for the twins.

As the three of them exited the room and the hospital there was silence. Though as soon as they entered Addamak's taxi Kelso burst."What on earth does this mean? Do you think it has something to do with the fae? You do, don't you? That's why we left so quickly? What are we going to do? If it's something unusual surely we can't fix it . surely we can't find a cure. Is nanna going to be alright? Wh-" she was silenced with a hand to the mouth courtesy of Tyrell.

"Kelso, nanna will be fine." Tyrell tried to reason with a soft tone but his eyes were sharp as he looked towards Addamak. "Won't she?" The fae was reminded slightly of Sylvester, he may not have known the dark fae very long but given the circumstances of their meeting Sylvester had similar attributes to what Tyrell was showing at that moment.

"I'm sure that she will be alright." Addamak nodded reassuringly. "If we have anything to do with it that is...we might need to get our....illegal sneakers on." The twins eyes widened in shock. "Now now don't panic,we would simply be sneaking in to see what her symptoms are, if we hadn't heard from the hospital by evening."

Little did they know, there was three figures watching them leave the hospital. They stood under the window of the room the twins had the consultation in with the doctor. They watched with frowns on their faces as the taxi drove away . "I wonder who that nobody is...unless they're not a nobody but in comparison to me they're a nobody." Nero smirked in the form of Alex.

"I think i've seen him before..." Brandon mumbled under his breath. "I know he's a taxi driver...of course, though he seems to be a regular around here." He brushed off the idea of the man being dangerous. "He's' just a taxi driver."

Nero hummed to themself and stroked their chin. "Also what did you guys do to make them act like that?" Since Erina nd Brandon were int he forms of Lorraine and Oscar it was easy to talk to them as though they were the twins' parents. "You seem to have royally messed up your relationship. The way they went on at least."

"How should we know?..." Erin trailed off and crossed her arms. "We weren't exactly told to learn the relationship dynamic between those two and their parents...though from what i've gathered i wouldn't blame them for talking about their parents the way they did, they're not exactly pleasant." her hand raised to her temples. "We know that from their fight at the restaurant."

"Oh goodness don't' remind me..."Nero mumbled and bit their lip. "That marks things more complicated however." their eyes narrowed in the direction the taxi had gone in. "we're not going to get any closer to them...ugh this was a waste of time!" they turned and quickly kicked a bin, which cracked along its side and split into two . With a few quick breaths they attempted to compose themself. "Right, we just need to figure out some next steps. Maybe not everything was a waste."
