Chapter 18
Sunday morning was glorious. The humans got to sleep in rather late in the comforting arms of their fae significant others. Sylvester had woken up to Tyrell's soft giggles as Ebony was showering him with sloppy kisses. The girls were still sound asleep by the time the boys were up and ready.
The boys had taken Ebony for a short walk just as the sun was rising. Tyrell averted his eyes as soon as he opened the front door though he could tell that his parents had not moved the van, it was much too large to ignore. Laylian had created a lead for Ebony nearly as soon as she saw the pup and so there was now a bright purple lead which Ebony had quickly associated with a walk.
It was a slow morning for the girls as they stayed in bed until well past ten. At which point the boys had dragged them out of bed and downstairs so that they could eat breakfast in good time to not mess up the meals for the rest of the day. The curtains were kept shut in order to keep the van out of view.
Hazel was tempted to go and see if her daughter was alright. She felt bad for acting the way that she did but she was appalled at her daughter's actions. She would have never thought she had raised the woman that was only a few steps away, the woman who basically abandoned her children for a life of travel , only coming back and claiming them when they didn't turn out the way that she wished.
She had found it difficult to sleep the night before. She had walked downstairs in the middle fo the night and made a cult of tea. This was evident when the boys walked into the living room that morning and saw her asleep on her chair with a half-full cup and a blanket on her lap.
Kelso and Laylian sat with only one piece fo toast each and they had made themselves a cup of tea. They hadn't moved Hazel and tried their very best to be as silent as possible. Though they were rather certain they could blast music and the lady would not wake, she was stone out.
"Poor nanna." Kelso said as she looked over at hazel. "It must be really heartbreaking to have to choose between her daughter's side and her grandchildren." Tyrell and Sylvester walked in as she spoke, having needed to change their socks due to the rain that had gotten into their shoes.
"Yeah.." Tyrell looked over to his nanna before taking the cup from the table beside her. "We should do something after all this. Maybe invite Dawn,Eden and Devin if she wants. We will have a Hazel day." After quickly rinsing the tea cup and returning to the living room he started to wipe at the cabinets with a cloth. "But this will do as a start."
Kelso's eyes lit up . "perfect!" she whispered towards her brother and quickly finished her breakfast. "Great idea." She ran to get a cloth of her own and some cleaning spray . The two fae looked at each other and shrugged, it would be a lot quicker if the two of them chipped in. Though the humans didn't ask, the fae knew that they were grateful for the help.
It took about an hour and a half of silent cleaning for the four of them to finish up doing the chores that Hazel would have declared as her own chores. It had went much quicker with everyone working silently and together. After they had finished it was nearly dinner time , but they still had half an hor left and so they went outside for a few moments .
Tyrell held the pictures that they had taken and printed off. The pictures of the symbols had almost became a routine for the twins to look at. They had figured a few more of the symbols out and they hoped that if they did the simple ones first then the ones to follow may become easier or clearer.
"so " Tyrell said sternly and seriously. "There is no denying that the one which we activated was an eye." He shuffled the pictures in order to find the one he was talking about. "And you dropped...a needle into the water...stuff?" His bright eyes looked up at Laylian in question.
"Yeah the needle rolled into the water...stuff as you put it." Laylian echoed the serious tone that Tyrell used. All of them felt like they were somehow slacking and so this little window of time had to be used wisely. "So it's the eye of the needle?" It seemed like the only reasonable explanation as to why the eye would activate as a needle fell into the water.
"Ohh." Sylvester furrowed his eyebrows and started to look at the symbols again. He had come to that conclusion a little while ago but he felt a bit too shy to tell hsi friends about it. He wasn't sure if he had gotten the connection correct and if it was called the eye of the needle. His quiet noise of acknowledgement almost made Tyrell's serious face crack but there was a noticeable glind of happiness in his eyes.
"Let's look on the bright side of that." Kelso interrupted the silence. "We may not need to handle an actual ...real heart! " Kelso did a small happy dance in her seat before adding. "Though we do need to figure out what the alternatives could be for some of them."
There was much resistance from Tyrell as he thought 'that is what we're doing sis' though he gave a slight chuckle and pointed towards the symbol of the book. "We may not need to think of alternatives for all of them, though i'm sure that we can't just throw in a random notebook."
The red book that was on the table which belonged to Sylvester was suddenly off the table and cuddled to Sylvester's chest. Laylian's eyes sparkled with happiness at the small gesture . Though Sylvester seemed a little bit embarrassed, he was still extremely protective over his journal.
"I would be a bit concerned if we had to put a house in the water..." The words came from Laylian's mouth before she could stop them. They hadn't decided one hat that picture represented yet as it seemed a bit unusual. It just seemed like a bunch of squares , but as the words escaped Laylian , it was clear that the symbol was of a building.
"Yeah that would be rather difficult..." Tyrell groaned and ran a hand down his face. They were now able to hear Hazel moving around inside the house and realized they had spent much more time outside then they had originally intended, it was dinner time.
