Part 9: Battleborn's Perspective: An Immortal Problem
Hmm, I don't know what's worst, the fact I made a complete fool of myself in front of Christa, or that I've been having extremely painful flashbacks of my extremely painful past. I decided that it was a good idea to talk to Chiron, but I then reconsidered. Because, he quickly kicked me out. I don't know how this happened, but this whole flashback thing is causing me to get a bad name among my own people. It's quite sad; and I know that I have to try and fix this. I see Christa walking with some friends, "Hey, Christa!" I yell. She looks at me and smiles as she walks over. "Whatta?" she said with a giggle. "I have a problem.." I told her everything I know, but it wasn't long before her smile turned into a frown. "How long has this been happening?" she quickly said. "It just star-" I hit my knees, clinging onto her, having another flashback. I was standing my home village. It was a normal day. This was when I was a child.... I think to myself. How could I remember this day? "Hey, James!" my mother calls. I look at her, I've never met my mother after my village collapsed, but I looked at her with tears in my eyes as I run up to her. "M-mom?" I ask, just then a huge man grabbed me. "No!" I scream, "Mom, don't let him take me!" I scream. She frowns, tears streaming down her face, "It's your destiny, little one..." she mumbles as she walks inside the house. The man takes me the a carriage, then I wake up. Christa has me in her arms, stroking my hair as she calms me down. "W-what happened...?" I ask, she smiles as she see I'm awake. She just stays quiet and keep stroking my head. "Nothing, Battleborn...I've got you, don't be afraid.." she says calmly. I don't know how, but for the first time, I've felt peace. The only person that's ever been able to calm me down. I lay in her arms, her hazel eyes meet my red eyes, and I feel the connection we have. I don't know how it's possible...but I think we made a connection we can't break... "Just calm down, Battleborn..." she says again. Her calm voice bringing peace to my very soul. I don't want this to end, but Chiron calls her name. She doesn't listen, so Chiron sent two campers to receive her by force, saying I'm dangerous. I stand up, and throw the other two Campers at the Big House. I then grab Christa and War Jump to my arena. She lays me down in her arms again, and I feel the warm feeling of love.... They say a war god can never love...but then what is this feeling I have right now? I want to ask what she sees in me, but when I went to say something, she put her finger to my lips shushing me as we lay in my arena. I go along with it and smile as she rubs my head again.
I start to dream for the first time and the only person I see is Christa, my dreams tend to be about the future. She and I are standing outside a house. She's smiling and holding my hand. I have never had this dream before, but I like it. I then decided maybe it is real, that's when she took me into her arms, this dream is extremely real. I wonder what this might lead too...I then wake up...in her arms.
To be continued...
