Chapter Two
Chapter Two: The Train
My weekend magic school, Halliwell Institute, had signed me up for an exchange program that brings me all across the way to England. So, here we were on September first in Kings Cross station walking in between platforms nine and ten. Mom, Dad, Happy, Aunt Pepper, and Uncle Tony all came along to wish me luck on my final year of magic school, which will be spent at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Before I went to board the train, my mom, aunt, dad, uncle, Happy all gave me a bone crushing hug. "Guys I can't breathe."
"Sorry Baby Rose."
"Ma, it's just Rose or Artemis or Artemis-Rose now. I am not a baby anymore."
"You are my baby and always will be."
"Yes Mom."
"Don't listen to your Mom, Rosie. We know you are seventeen. Have a good year, alright?"
"Yes, I will Dad. Oh and Dad, I am eighteen."
The conductor blew the final call whistle and I quickly ran onto the train. The doors closed and the locomotive started moving. I stood at the window and waved as my family passed.
I sat in empty compartment and pulled out The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. I read it every time I miss my family. The door to my both opens and a boy comes in. "Never seen you before. What's your name?"
"Artemis-Rose Parker, exchange student." I say without looking up.
"Draco Malfoy of Slytherin. Nice to meet you." He held out his hand in front of my book, blocking it. I shook the hand and immediately went back to reading. My phone went off.
"Parker here." I say in a form of greeting. With my head up, I got a good look at the boy. He had silver eyes and striking blonde hair. He was a bit taller than me and leanly built. His silver eyes were trained on me, watching me intently.
"Hey, are you on the train yet?"
"Uncle Bruce!"
"What about me?"
"Aunt Natasha!"
"Hello my little Roza. We just wanted to call and say have a good year and see you at Christmas. Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
"Natasha!"
"What? It's good advice."
"I agree with her. And thanks for the call, plus don't worry Aunt Natasha. I got you covered, bye."
"Bye!"
I get off the phone and Draco raised an eyebrow at me. I shrug and go back to my book. "You are so intent on reading that. Why?"
"It's my favorite book."
Silence fills the air once more and I smile at the frustrated boy in front of me. "You know you can ask whatever it is you want to ask. Only my dad and Uncle Tony would sick the US government on you if you said something offensive." I said to my companion.
"Alright I think. Anyway, what was that box you pulled out and how does it work?"
"You mean my cellphone?"
"Yeah. Can you show me?"
"Sure."
I pull out the latest Stark Phone that came out. "Normal electronic devices fizz out when around magic; however, when Dad and Uncle Tony adopted me, they created technology that works with magic. Cool huh?"
I spent the next twenty minutes explaining to him the functions of the Stark Phone. He was amazed to say the least. Once I was finished, I went back to my book. Then there was a crash.
