chapter five
two thousand years later.
The Seven, now dubbed the Commanders of the Void (or the Alpha Division), had now been on Veilara (Void's planet, and their home) for 2,000 Void years.
Once they had settled in, Void made them choose code names for when they were on missions and such. They had all decided on names in Latin, to honor the Roman campers and Jason, Hazel, and Frank's home.
Percy was Altum, or Tide in Latin. Void had personally asked and chose him to be the Supreme Commander of the Army of the Void, so he was the leader of the Alpha division and in turn, all of Void's armies. But he hated the fact that he was technically a higher power than everyone else, and typically downplayed his authority and power so he could be an equal to the rest of the Alphas. The only times when he truly displayed his power and authority was on missions, when he was practically forced to take charge.
Jason was Percy's second-in-command, and took on the name Fulgur, or Lightning. Percy had approached him the same day he was asked to be Supreme Commander, and asked Jason to be his second-in-command. Jason couldn't resist saying yes, so him and Percy had grown practically inseparable over the past 2,000 years.
Annabeth had chosen the name Sapientia, or Wisdom. Quite fitting for her parentage. She was third-in-command, and chief strategist of the armies at the orders of Void himself. Her and Percy were still together and going strong, more in love than ever before. She was the rock for the group, being the sane mind and shoulder to lean on. She was, as always, the quick, reliable, and intelligent Annabeth.
Hazel selected the name Gaza, which meant Treasure in Latin. Despite her protest, she was chosen as fourth-in-command, due to her parentage and her impressive power. Her abilities had grown since they had left Earth, due to Void's blessing on them when they had chosen to join his army. But she was still Hazel, the kind, gentle, loving soul that she was back on Earth so many eons ago. But while she was still a gentle soul at heart, she was a force to be reckoned with when she needed to be.
Frank chose the title of Animali, which was animal in Latin. Pretty self-explanatory when his special blessing of Poseidon was considered. He was chosen as the unit's fifth-in-command, due to his previous leadership as a Praetor and also his impressive skills on the battlefield. He was still the old Frank, the clumsy, awkward, lovable baby-faced demigod, but he had also developed into an intelligent, strong, and confident soldier.
Piper had deemed herself Incantator, or Charmer in Latin. She was also the unit's sixth-in-command, and was still the firecracker daughter of Aphrodite that she had always been. Her charmspeaking powers had intensified tenfold since the seven first arrived on Veilara, and getting into an argument or scuffle with her or around her was not the greatest idea. Both her skills and her beauty made her greatly admired by the soldiers she commanded, and she was as happy as ever on the planet that her and her best friends had made their home.
Leo took the name Ignis, or fire. Seemed pretty fitting for the firey (literally) and rambunctious Latino. He was the seventh in command, something which didn't bother him at all. He hated being in charge, and the prospect of him having a high command simply wasn't appealing. Frank had offered to change places with him, but Leo had declined. All he wanted to do was train, hang out with his friends, and work in the forges, all things that made him much happier than he ever would be if he had Percy, Jason, or Annabeth's positions of power. He was the happiest he had ever been on Veilara, and he wouldn't change it for anything.
The Commanders of the Void was the title they were given, the elite leaders of an army that amassed over 30,000 demigods. If a demigod performed well and showed promise during their lifetime, they were given the choice to go into the underworld, or to become a soldier on Veilara. Demigods of all parentage, parts of the world, and time periods made up the powerful, elite army that was tasked with protecting the universe that Void had created.
"Annabeth!" Percy called out, twirling Riptide's pen form in his hand. When he agreed to be the Supreme Commander, he never realized how much paperwork came with the job.
"What is it Perce?" Annabeth peeked her head into hers and Percy's shared room, seeing her boyfriend hunched over his desk with a pile of paperwork next to him. She walked over to where he sat, bending over to see what he was working on. Mission reports. Again.
"Can you help me?" He sent her his best puppy-dog eyes, causing Annabeth to smile and shake her head.
"Two thousand years and our Supreme Commander still can't keep up with his paperwork." Annabeth teased, but pulled up a chair regardless and grabbed a pen. "You owe me for this by the way," She added as she quickly began to fill out the form in front of her, her near perfect intellect being able to remember every detail of the mission she was reporting on. Once she was finished she handed it to Percy, who quickly scribbled his signature on the bottom line before moving onto the next report.
"Did I ever tell you that you're the best person in this universe? Like, you beat everyone else out by a mile," Percy said, causing Annabeth to let out a laugh. "And I'll cook you dinner tonight." Annabeth smiled in triumph, returning to the form she was filling out.
The couple sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, resembling a well oiled machine as they cranked out mission reports.
" Hey guys, Void wants us in the throne room." Their work was interrupted by Jason peeking his head through the door, the blonde boy racing out the moment his sentence was finished.
Annabeth and Percy shared a look before setting their pens down, knowing what it means when Void wanted them in the throne room. It meant that they were on their way to save yet another world from almost certain doom.
"I guess this means that we'll have to wait on finishing this," Percy sighed, staring at the only half-finished stack of papers that sat between them. "C'mon, we can't keep Void waiting." The pair stood up from their chairs, before exiting their room and breaking into a jog towards the throne room.
Two demigods opened the doors of the throne room for their commanders, Percy and Annabeth flashing a grateful smile to them before quickly rushing into the large room, the doors closing shut behind them. A quick scan of the room showed that they were the last ones to arrive, and they hastily shuffled into a line with the rest of the Seven.
"Nice of you two to finally join us," Void said, a teasing twinkle in his eye. Jason gave Percy a nudge with his elbow and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, Percy rolling his eyes and lightly shoving his friend in response.
"So, what's the deal this time? Please tell me we're not going to Ocilia again," Leo said, the team shuddering at the thought of going back to Ocilia. Let's just say that the last time they had a mission there, it involved a lot of goop and weird alien creatures that wanted to "mate" with the demigods. Not a pleasant memory.
Void chuckled. "No, you're not going to Ocilia again," The demigods let out a sigh of relief. "You're going to Earth."
"What?!"
