Chapter 7; Banner and the tests
~Erin a.k.a The Glitch POV~
Steve had shown up in my room and woke me up. He told me that Fury was looking for me. Ow god.
"Hm, Okay." I just answered simply as my brain was not awake yet at all.
He still had his back turned to me and I was sure he was kind of uncomfortable.
I yawned loudly. Maybe it would have been smart to put on my alarm. Naa, it was 10:30 so it wasn't that late was it? Suddenly my brain woke up and I got the rhyming thingy. I giggled.
"Fury, furious." It rhymed.
Steve seemed to smile too even though he still kept his back turned on me. I got a little cold in just my shirt so I walked to my closet.
"I-I'll wait outside." Steve said as he realized I was gonna change.
I wasn't gonna change though. I opened the door and looked in the body length mirror. My hair looked like I tumble dried it so I used my powers to create a little wind that blew it all good. I felt restricted though when I used my powers. Like I just had ten percent of the powers I normally had. The iron bracelet with the blue lights came in sight as I patted my own hair a bit. Stupid thing. I would throw that thing out of the Helicarrier if that is what caused that restricted feeling.
"You don't have to. I'm done in a sec." I said before realizing that sounded a bit weird for a guy who thought I was gonna strip naked and all.
I pulled a weird face at myself in the mirror and grabbed a long vest from the closet. The grey vest had long sleeves that covered my hands and almost reached my knees. It also had a big grey hoodie, good to hide in from Fury if needed. I put it on over my shirt and shorts, closed the closet door and pushed Steve in his back towards the door.
"Wha- shouldn't you change into something more... decent?" He asked carefully.
He looked back at me for a sec as he saw I barely changed anything. I stopped pushing before the door, opened it and retook my place behind him to push him in the hall.
"This is good enough. I did wake up just a few minutes ago so cut me some slack would ya?" My hands still on his shoulders.
I stopped abruptly. I didn't knew where to go. Where was the lab.
"Um, so maybe it's smart if you start using your own legs and lead me there 'cause I have no idea where to go." Steve turned around obviously focusing on my face as he talked instead of all underneath.
"Yes. Um, I'll bring you there." He said moving fast to the lab.
I yawned again. My day started perfectly once again... not. I pulled my black hair sideways over my shoulder and threw the grey hood on. I crossed my arms and followed Steve. Let's face the fire of Fury.
~Steve a.k.a Captain America POV~
Erin walked behind me quietly. We were almost at the lab where Banner and Fury would be waiting for her. I could imagine how Fury would react at her and felt sorry for her that she had to go in. On the other side I was really curious for what she could do and what her main power was. Just like the others. They had been talking about it yesterday when Erin went to bed. Everybody was curious and we all decided to come look today when Banner would give her the tests.
~Erin a.k.a The Glitch POV~
I was shielding myself for the 'Fury' impact. He was going to be so mad. Steve stopped at one of the iron doors. Guess that this was the lab then, and it was time to face his hell fire. I breathed out loudly and shrugged my shoulders before going in. The door slit open and Banner and an angry Fury turned to me and, the still not looking at me, Steve.
Fury was on the brink of shouting at me but when he saw what I wore he froze. So did Banner. Or I guessed it was Banner seeing he was the only other person in the room. I had braced myself for Fury's fire but it never came. I had my eyes closed, pulled a weird face and had my arms crossed before me. I slowly opened my eyes and saw their open mouths.
"What are you wearing?!" Fury bursted out at me way less mad then I had expected him to be, although that would be about me being late.
I frowned. 'Really?! More comments on my clothes?!' I sighed.
"Never mind my clothes just let's move shall we?" I walked to the guy who I guessed was Banner and stook out my hand.
"Hi. Bruce Banner right? The Hulk? I'm Erin. Your experimental bunny for today, nice to meat you." He shook himself out of his surprised state of my clothes and shook my hand.
"Well, I'll be going then." Steve said uncomfortably and walked out.
"So let's start shall we?" I said hoping to dodge the bullet by distracting Fury to go on with the tests.
Luckily for me it worked and Banner explained me what he was going to.
"So if you lie down on the table and all the wires are connected I will send you in some sort of illusion. There you will show us your powers as you fight. Also I will put an IV in your arm to see what happens with your blood and this crown like thing to see how your brain will react." He explained obviously as simple as he could for dumb shit here.
I didn't got the half of it but what I did understood was that he would be putting me in some kind of sleep that he made and there I could go all out with my powers. And I would be wearing a crown thingy. Sounded great so I couldn't wait.
After all the pocking and plugging in was done in the room, that looked a lot like the one I woke up in the first time, I saw the big dark glass wall. Bet the others were looking right now. There was a big screen where Banner would be able to follow me in my made sleep and I was sure they would like to see too.
"Don't you want to change clothes first?" Banner asked looking at me.
"Naa. I fought in way less than this." I answered remembering the robber at the orphanage in my room when I only wore a towel.
He gave me a strange and surprised look before moving on with all the wires and things.
"Are you comfortable?" He asked. He had told me he would go behind that glass wall too and would follow me there in seconds.
"No, not really but let's just do it." I said a little impatient. He took off my bracelet Fury had given me and left the room. I immediately felt like I would be able to use all my powers fully again.
I closed my eyes. Before I knew It I woke up in a huge wasteland in my skimpy clothes. I sat up and looked around. It all looked really well made.
"Can you hear me Erin?" I heard Banner's voice out of the sky.
"Yeah, What now? Doesn't really look like I have anything to do or is this one of those think test 'cause in that case it is way too early for that." I said to the body-less voice. "It is always way too early for that. Like till I die to early." I thought behind it.
"You'll be fine. Just be ready and go all out." Banner said before a few vague forms appeared a little away from me.
Time to play. I cracked my knuckles and shrugged my shoulders. I was ready.
