Chapter 12; Taken over
~Erin a.k.a The glitch POV~
I was slumbering there on the ground. It felt like an hour while I just laid there for a second. I stood up completely awake and alert again. I looked around suspiciously.
'Where am I?' I thought as I looked around some more.
Hesitantly I walked around a bit. Manny Wooden crates and objects that I didn't knew.
'Where is this? Derlanec!' I thought. Wait, 'Derlanec? what does that mean. I shrugged it off.
I walked around a corner. A guy with short brown hair and one with longer dirty blond hair very muscular walked out a room down the hall.
"Hey, Erin you done? Come on we need to go to the meeting room now." The one with short brown hair yelled.
Clint.
"Yeah I'm coming!" I yelled at him.
How could I forget. The meeting room. Fury was gonna kill me if I didn't show up fast. I ran over to Thor and Clint hiding my right wrist behind my back.
"Let's move." Clint said trying to grab my right arm to drag me with him.
automatically I pulled away. Thor looked a bit suspicious at me. I just smiled at them hoping they would ignore it and just go. From the corner of my eye I saw Loki in his cell guarded by two agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. Thor, Clint and I ran through the halls and reached the meeting room. Luckily on time.
We moved in and sat down on our spots. Fury looked at me first.
"Did everything go well?" He asked. Probably meaning the rock thing that had just attacked and hurt me.
"Yeah fine. It's on it's place. ED8, like you commanded." I assured him keeping my right arm behind my back.
The sleeve covered the place where it was hurting but still I had to be sure nobody saw it. Even though this probably made it more suspicious so I put my hands in my pockets. Thor was eyeing me again. I gave him one of my most normal looks. Our eyes locked for a second and then he looked away.
"Good. Now Loki is here I want one of you guarding him every hour of the day. We will make schedules so you can take rounds but I want agent Bane to guard him every night to morning." Fury said.
Thor stood up slamming his hand on the table. "No." He obviously didn't agree.
"Thor, Loki and Erin both have a difficult personality. They are a bit alike. Only Erin is on our side and she edges to the good. She thinks just a little different, just that difference Loki needs."
Thor seemed to think frowning a little as he did.
"He can learn from Erin Thor. Let Erin have the night shifts. We'll see how it goes." Fury said back convincing him slowly.
Thor still didn't looked content but backed down. I didn't understood why. Maybe he didn't like the idea of me guarding Loki. I was kind of a weird one I had to admit.
"You know I'm right here Fury. I don't really know if I should take it as a compliment when you compare me with a man." I said hoping Thor would calm down more as I took away the possibility for him to fight on about it. And of course because I really was not sure if it was a good thing to be compared with a man. Didn't really feel good.
"Really? He compares you with a huge criminal and murderer and that's all that bothers you? No offense Thor." Natasha said.
I just shrugged my shoulders and threw my legs on the table. Nobody's perfect, and I just wanted it done and go to my room to look at my wrist. It started hurting more all over my body now.
Thor did calm down a bit luckily. I didn't like to see him like that. Not that I became weak but I could understand that it was kind of awkward all this with his own brother here. I wouldn't really like it either. It still was a weird reaction though.
"We'll talk about this Thor." Fury said to him. he nodded.
We decided that I would be the night guard of our royal prisoner Loki. I didn't mind. The only thing I really didn't like was that I had to miss out on sleep. Finally I could go to my room and so I did saying I was going to get some sleep before my shift started.
Once in my room I pulled my sleeve up. The veins in my wrist were scaring red and pulsing or more moving. The skin on my chest above my left breast started to burn. I hissed. Pulling the neck line of my suit down a bit I reveal a strange mark where my heart was. It was slightly purple and looked like a flame. Great. I have no idea what is going on, I got a sign I don't know on my chest and moving veins in my wrist. I sighed. It would go away, I was sure of it. Luckily my collar prohibited anybody from seeing it. I took a shower and dropped on my bed with my suit on the end of it in my clean purple underwear. A few hours of sleep would do me good, something to eat and then on my way to my new night buddy who replaced sleep. Uh, that sounded wrong.
Soon I slept. I slept deeper then I ever had. I dreamt about a red liquid like silhouette. It was more a nightmare actually.
--- The nightmare ---
Black. Black everywhere. Even the ground I stood on was pitch black. I was surprised I didn't fell for eternity in this dark whole. I walked a little looking around for something. Anything. There was no sound but my own feet as I walked. Suddenly a dark red figure appeared before me. It had the shape of a human. A woman I guessed. She existed out of the same wine red moving liquid I had seen between those two rocks.
As she stood still the liquid she existed of kept moving like it crept over her. She had no eyes or mouth, just a silhouette of her body. I walked closer slowly as she seemed to call out to me. She still didn't move but I heard her in my head. I didn't heard her good enough to hear what she said though. She reached her hand out to me whispering something again. I did the same. Our fingers touched and a cold chill ran down my back. Suddenly she grabbed my wrist and it started to hurt immensely. She pressured my already hurting wrist and she pulled me toward her. I started to panic immensely as I felt like she was pushing me out of my own body taking complete control of me as she went inside me. I could feel her travel through my veins to every possible place of my body.
Like blood she floated in my wrist as the pushing feeling got worse. She was pushing me out of my own body somehow. Like she killed me to make place for herself. It was hurting so much and suddenly I looked at myself. Like I was floating above my own body. My body lay limp on the ground. Black smoke appeared around my body. It slowly pulled my body in the ground like it turned to mud. I screamed but no sound left my mouth. I tried to grab my own arm but I couldn't. My own arm kept on slipping threw my fingers. As the last of my hand slowly sank in the black mud like floor a bright light appeared near my body. But nothing happened. My hand sank in and my body was gone. I tried to scream but there was no sound. I felt lonely and empty. The light disappeared and now I was all alone again. I felt the ground for my body till I noticed I had no heart beat. I was dead.
---
I shot up all sweaty and breathing heavily. Irritated I wiped the sweat off my forehead. Why did I dream that? I calmed myself down and walked to my bathroom. Nearly tripping in the process over my own sleeping clothes, fest and underwear from yesterday. I kicked them aside grunting very not woman like. Ha, like I cared about that. As I looked in the mirror I realized how wild I must have been tossing around seeing my hair looked like the manes of a lion. I brushed them a bit until they were pretty okay again. After I splashed some water in my face I walked back to my bed. The little clock showed 10:45. I had only fifteen minutes left to eat and report for my shift as Loki's babysitter.
I grabbed my suit and pulled it on. I spotted my bag again. Inside I had my phone. Thinking I needed something to do apart from watching Loki being imprisoned and being bored I grabbed it with me and put it in my pocket. I walked out my room probably looking like a ghost seeing I didn't really slept great and made my way to the cafeteria.
When I came in I spotted Natasha. She seemed to be the only one there with Clint. I smirked to myself. There was clearly something going on between them. I would ask Tony about that later. He probably knew all the in's and out's about it. Fury had said that they would bring me food but the food lover I am I grabbed a bag of ships, two bottles of water, a chocolate bar, three sandwiches and some skittles. Natasha and Clint looked at me like a giant dodo just walked in.
"What?" I asked insulted.
Clint sighed half laughing. "Nothing. Just looking at a squirrel and her nuts."
I gave him a glare. "Remember that this 'squirrel' bites buddy. Hard." I growled back.
Natasha laughed a little. Then she must have seen the slight change in my face from sleeping bad. She stood up and walked to me.
"Are you okay?" She asked on a pretty all day talk way.
"Fine. Great! And now that I have my food my day can't get better! Just had a bloody nightmare that's all." I said to her like I was over exited to go to work instead of sleep.
"Where are the others by the way?" I asked out of curiosity while struggling to get some skittles in my mouth.
"I don't know. They left earlier. It's just me and Clint here." She said.
I stopped struggling with a little red bag of skittles between my teeth I smiled the most wicked smile I had. Just her and Clint hu.
"Sorry for interrupting your 'private time'." I said obviously teasing them. "I have to go babysit a royal brat so don't mind me! Just go on with whatever you two where doing. I won't tell anybody." I said half lisping with the little skittle bag between my teeth.
Clint blushed obviously though trying to hide it and Natasha was staring daggers at me. Still she had turned a little pink too. I winked at her as I stook my tong out. The little bag fell back onto the pile of food in my arms. I walked out the room giving them back their 'privacy'. There really was something between them, It was almost like they just didn't wanted to admit it though. I shrugged my shoulders. Well, as long as I don't get mixed up in it in a bad way they could do what they wanted.
I had finally reached the hall that led to the prisons where my new buddy Loki would be. It had taken a while for me to find it on this god damn ship and with my full arms of sandwiches, skittles, two water bottles, a chocolate bar and a bag of ships it was not very funny to take a long rout. As I turned in the prison part I almost walked up to Thor.
He stopped me by grabbing my arm gently or what he must have thought was gently. Well, predictable with a guy with as much muscles as him. I hadn't seen them but a little away from the path before me Thor, Tony and Steve had been standing apparently.
"Erin. Sorry to bother you with carrying... that. We just wanted to say something that's all." Steve said looking serious.
Ow god. If there was one thing I learned was that when people looked that serious and asked to talk to you there could only be two things. 1, your family or friend died. Well I didn't have any of both so that wasn't it. Or 2, they wanted to warn you or talk about feelings. The three of them didn't really strike me as the group talk kinda persons so I kept it on the warning. Let's hear it then.
