We met the Doctor and Rory waiting for us in the square, and told them about our encounter with Madame Kovarian, except for Amy and I's conversation at the end.

"I'm assuming you have a plan, Oswin?" the Doctor raised an eyebrow at me.

"Yes," I said, "We're going to go to her place at nighttime and take Melody while Kovarian is asleep."

Rory stated, "That's a good plan, but how do you know where she lives?"

I answered, "For one, I saw her walk into that building," I pointed to a building across the street, "But even if that's not where she lives, I slipped a tracker on her."

They all looked at me in surprise. "Where did you put the tracker?" Amy asked me.

"On her shoe."

They looked impressed. I've no idea why, it wasn't that impressive. The Doctor might have done the same. Okay, maybe it was impressive, if that's what the Doctor would have done. Still, they were making me a bit uncomfortable.

"Are we going or not?" I broke the awkward silence.

Rory looked confused. "Don't we have to wait for it to be night?" he wondered, "You said we'd go at nighttime."

I rolled my eyes at the non-ginger Pond. "Time machine," I said, pointing to the TARDIS behind me.

We went in the TARDIS and the Doctor set the scanner to follow Kovarian's tracker. It showed that at midnight on the same night we had been on Earth, Kovarian was going to be in the building that I saw her walk into.

It was time to start preparations.

We landed the TARDIS in Kovarian's bedroom. The Doctor had turned off the brakes for once, so it was silent.

Amy was going to get Melody, since it was her baby. She slipped out of the time machine carrying the baby shaped bundle that she would put in Melody's place.

The girl crept over to the cradle and picked up the sleeping baby, putting the bundle in the cradle instead.

The Doctor started to dematerialise the TARDIS as Amy came back, but just when she was right outside the door to the time machine, Melody woke up and shrieked!

Madame Kovarian was out of bed in less than a second, grabbing the baby out of Amy's arms. Amy went to get her daughter back, but Rory grabbed her and pulled her into the TARDIS just as it dematerialised completely.

We had failed to get Melody back.

A/N Oh no, they didn't get Melody! This chapter made me sad when I was writing it. 😔 Poor Amy!
