Chapter 34: Like Father, Like Daughter?
The next morning, after Albus had breakfast, it seemed everyone wished to go to Diagon Alley for all kinds of stuff, from brooms to new robes, from books to ice cream. Therefore, as usual, they made groups and divided. Albus got in a group with Lily, Lorcan, Dominique, Lucy, Audrey and Fleur. This was the group that would go to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions - And if they wouldn't be able to find the right robes they would go to Twillfit and Tattings, Wiseacres Wizarding Equipment and Flourish and Blott's. Everyone would start at Gringott's, then move to the Ice Cream shop. Albus thought his group was rather boring, but Tyler was going to tag along with Quinn, Rose and Scorpius to the Quidditch store, which Albus didn't find interesting either, plus, he really needed some new robes, as his ankles were showing.
As it was, therefore, they split outside Gringott's. Quinn waved at Albus before following the others to the Quidditch shop, and Albus followed his own group. They went to Madam Malkin's first. As Albus browsed through all the types of robes - as they were made of different fabrics and styles although most people tended to go for the casual 'Hoggy Warty Robe' model. Albus picked one from the rack as Madam Malkin took out a tape-measure and started measuring him. It didn't take long for the group to finish at Madam Malkin's, so they continued at Wiseacres Wizarding Equipment, Albus carrying his new bag of robes. When they arrived, a flash of red hair he thought he recognized crossed his sight. He turned to Audrey, who was standing next to him.
"Aunt Audrey? Is it just me, or does he look an awful lot like Uncle Charlie?" he asked, and Audrey looked at the redhead with rather long hair.
She nodded. "He does, I believe it's him. OY! Charlie!" she yelled, and he spun around. His eyes widened, and he smiled.
"Audrey! Albus! Wow, Albus, I haven't seen you in a while. When was the last time I saw you? Two summers ago, I think, right?" Albus nodded. Charlie was one of his favorite uncles, as he always had amazing stories about dragons. "Well, is the whole family in Diagon Alley?" He asked, a sudden panic in his voice.
"Almost, yes, well, Victoire's home with Remus and some of the others are still home too, why?" Audrey asked, and Charlie bit his lip.
He rubbed his neck. "Well, could you two just, forget that I was here? Thanks a lot, I-er, I should go. See you some other time. Bye!" he said, before walking away quickly.
"What was that about?" Albus asked, as Audrey shrugged.
"No idea. But we should join the others, they'll leave the shop in a whiff." she said, and she walked towards Fleur. Albus however, scanned the shop with his eyes, checking to see if Charlie was still there. But with his rotten luck, he wasn't, so he quickly followed the group out of the store.
In Flourish and Blott's, he got a second chance on seeing Charlie. He was standing near the books about Magical Creatures, at the Dragons section. Albus walked up to him quietly, so he wouldn't run away.
"Hi, Albus." said Charlie, before Albus had reached him. "I saw you in the corner of my eye. What is it?" he asked, and Albus bit his lip, pondering what to say.
"Why don't you want the family to know you're here?" he asked, and Charlie looked at him.
He placed his hand on Albus' shoulder. "You wouldn't understand." he said.
"Please? I won't tell anyone you're here if you tell me." Said Albus. Charlie sighed.
He narrowed his eyes. "You're a sneaky one, you know." he said. "Well then, I guess I have no choice." Albus nodded. "Well, I'm here - in Diagon Alley - with my girlfriend. And that'd be totally fine, if it wasn't someone that is highly despised by people in the family." he said, and Albus raised a brow.
"But.. The only people the family hate are Malfoys - and that not anymore, Blacks - and they're all dead, You-Know-Who - and he's dead. So... I can't really put my finger on who the family hates." Albus said, and Charlie nodded.
He chuckled. "It's not one of them. See, it's sort of her dad. He-umm, well, it's not of particular matter what he did, but she's related to him, so everyone in our family probably hates her. A lot. Like, really much. And I highly doubt they have to know I'm here, so, thanks for keeping it a secret, I have to go because she's probably waiting for me." he said.
"But, surely they can't hate her for something her dad did, can they?" Albus said, and Charlie shrugged.
He bit his lip. "I think they can. Considering what he did. And well, she probably was the reason he did it, so it might partly be her fault. But I'm not going to say anymore. Bye, Al. See you in a week, I'll visit the Burrow then. Without her." he finished, and with that he walked away, leaving Albus pondering who and what and why.
Albus followed the rest outside and they walked to the ice cream shop where the whole family was already, waiting for them - the last group - to go inside. Audrey apologized for being so late, and the group went inside. Yet, to his luck, Charlie was their again, sharing an ice cream with a brown-haired lady. George was the first to recognize him.
"Charlie? OY! Charlie!" he yelled, and the redhead spun around. He seemed surprised to see the whole family - well, almost the whole family. "Why didn't you tell us you were here? Who's this? Do you have a girlfriend?"
The lady nodded slowly. "Hi. I'm Gwen." she said, and everyone muttered sheer 'hi's.
"Well, tag along, we're going to the Burrow!" said Fleur, and Charlie nodded, possibly realizing if he said no he'd be forced to go anyway.

A bit later Gwen was questioned by everyone, as was Charlie, which clearly, he didn't like. When they arrived, Grandma Weasley seemed surprised that Charlie was there.
"Charles! Why have you let your hair grow again?" she asked, and he chuckled.
He shook his head. "I'm old enough to decide how to do my hair now." he said, when her eyes fell upon Gwen.
"Who's this?" she asked, and Gwen held out her hand.
Grandma Weasley shook it. "Gwen."
"Welcome, Gwen." said Grandma Weasley, when suddenly James started yelling through the house.
"All Weasleys, Scamanders, Longbottoms, Gwen, Tyler, Scorpius, Quinn, Annabeth, Potters to the Quidditch pitch! The Summer Quidditch Match will begin!" he rambled. People started coming from every corner and shadow, moving outside.
