Chapter 8: Christmas

You looked out the window and saw snow outside the cabin.

Mountains of snow, in fact. They were growing by the second.

You remembered when your original family would allow you to play in the snow for about 30 minutes. You remembered how you never wanted it to end, but you were strongly warned about "the creatures that were snowed in". You didn't believe that, but you listened to them anyway.

Now, since you were divorced your old family, you wanted your new mother to play with you out in the snow.

You quickly grabbed your coat and entered her room just as she was getting out of bed.

"Mom!" you shouted.

She jumped out of her bed.

Bayonetta: "(y/n)?! What is it?!"

You grabbed her by her arm and dragged her out of her room.

"It's SNOWING!" you shouted as you showed her the winter wonderland.

Bayonetta looked out the door.

"Mom?"

Bayonetta: "You know I can't be out here without a coat!"

"I thought witches like you could produce body heat."

Bayonetta: "Not umbra witches!"

You quickly grabbed a coat for her.

Bayonetta: "Now what is it?"

You ran outside.

"Look at the SNOW!"

Bayonetta stepped out and took one good look at the snow around her.

Bayonetta: "Well, that's something I don't see every day."

"You've never seen snow before?" you asked her while making a snowman.

Bayonetta: "No."

"But have you seen a snowman before?"

Bayonetta: "Yes, but not in real life."

She then noticed the snowman.

Bayonetta: "That's a nice looking chap, I must say."

You hid behind a tree.

"Oh, is she going to have a surprise," you said to yourself.

Your mother continued to talk to her new friend.

Bayonetta: "Do you ever do anything aside from standing there?"

You hit her with a snowball in the back of her head.

Bayonetta: "WHA--"

"Come on, Mom! This is the reason why I wanted you out here in the first place!"

You ran off laughing.

Bayonetta: "If he's gonna play like that, then play I shall!"

From afar, you saw your mother gathering a snowball.

"This is perfect," you thought. "She'll never see me coming."

You saw someone walking towards your direction.

"Ha ha! She's coming this way!"

You threw your snowball.

"Score!"

But when you ran out, you didn't see your mother.

"Hm?"

You went and saw the person lying in the snow.

"Auntie Jeanne?"

Jeanne: "(y/n)?"

"Yeah, it's me."

Jeanne: "What was that for?"

"You see, I'm in a snowball fight with mommy, and she--"

Bayonetta hit you with a snowball for afar.

"Ow!"

She walked up to you and your aunt.

Bayonetta: "HA! Bullseye!"

Jeanne: "Yeah, I'm going back."

"Come on, Jeanne!" you shouted.

Jeanne: "Nah, I'd rather you two spend time together."

Timeskip to night time looming over the cabin.

You and your mother were nestled against the fireplace.

"Here's your present, mom."

She opened it up.

Bayonetta: "What's this?"

"It's a necklace. I know you like to accessorize."

Bayonetta: "And here's my present to you."

You opened up the box.

"Mom, what's this?"

Bayonetta: "It's a photo I took of us and your aunt."

"When was this?"

Bayonetta: "When you first met your aunt."

"I love it," you said as you hugged your mother.

Soon, you two just sat by the fire silently.

Bayonetta: "Do you know the holiday after Christmas?"

"No," you responded.

Bayonetta: "Well, it's going to happen at the end of the month."

You slept on your mother's chest.

Bayonetta: "Good night, (y/n)."

Author's Note:

Yeah, I know it's weeks late, but this was the story I was given. You don't look a gift horse in the mouth, do you?
